What 'boring/stupid' adult things do you get excited about?

For example I bought a spray mop in the black Friday sales and I was so excited for it to arrive that I used it as soon as it was delivered on Saturday morning. Just used it again this morning and it brings me so much joy I don't know why Grin

Going to bed stupidly early with a cup of tea and good book, especially on Fridays when the cleaner has made up the bed with all clean linen. She makes the bed immaculately, proper boutique hotel style.

Buying some new make up you've never tried before, you go to put your face on in the morning and suddenly remember ooh I can try my new lippie/mascara or maybe that's just me.
Heading off to bed with a good book or iPad to watch a newly uploaded a video from a good Youtuber.

I would happily pay some of you form-filling geeks to complete a few job applications for me. Grin I loathe forms. Always have done.

On the other hand I must confess that getting black mould stains out of a white linen napkin (strong bleach solution for half the day, since you ask Wink) was a Major Personal Triumph. GrinGrin

@ComisSousDePartie I totally read that as

My best night ever would be bath, new Pjs AND socks, then undisturbed fiddling

Grin

I love hanging washing on the line. Each side of the whirly has its own peg colour and things are hung in a specific order 😂

When it is done I like to go upstairs and admire the washing from the bedroom window 🤗

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 03/12/2019 17:06

New pjs, clean sheets and freshly shaved legs. Looking at the garden out of the kitchen window drinking a cup of tea.

redexpat · 03/12/2019 17:08

Perhaps controversial on MN, but I really like my job! And my boss is awesome.
Also quite fond of my bullet journal.

JumpiestBat · 03/12/2019 17:09

Having a Nana Nap after Sunday lunch. I look forward to it more than the food tbh.

JumpiestBat · 03/12/2019 17:09

I am 45 and not a Nana.

Checking a rental car for dings. Confused

riotlady · 03/12/2019 18:17

Going to Costco!!

My whole family is obsessed. DH had never been before so I took him along with my parents and while we were there we bumped into my grandma and aunt there together, and another aunt with my cousin and his wife. We had a full family reunion in the meat aisle xD

I love my calendar. It's big with lots of columns and stickers. I like writing everything on it and then finding a sticker that matches the event.

I like pairing socks and when I find one that's been AWOL for a while and reunite it with its partner, it's ace. I like to think of them all cosy together in the drawer and happily hugging. (May have read Stickman too many times to DC while simultaneously sorting laundry).

I like being the one who has to let the dog out for first/last pee. I get a few minutes to stand in my garden and admire the morning frost/evening stars and enjoy the quiet.

DrivingMsCrazy · 03/12/2019 18:28

@TheNavigator aah that's lovely, but I've always loved trees! Maybe I was born old Grin

RedRosie · 03/12/2019 18:28

Driving my own car. Or just driving at all really (was late to it). Smile

Franklymydearidontgiveadam · 03/12/2019 18:31

On a day off I'm always Baking those raw frozen pain du chocolate or cinnamon swirls and sitting with a fresh coffee while watching Fraiser in the morning.

Ragwort · 03/12/2019 19:05

redex, I love my job too and spend my time off looking forward to going back to work Grin, I am fortunate in that I can go into work anytime I like so I often pop in ‘out of hours’ to sort things out ... might even go in on Christmas Day Grin.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 03/12/2019 19:08

The first cup of tea of the day while I’m still in bed. Perfectly made with M&S loose leaf tea. And drunk at the perfect temperature.

lifeisgoodagain · 03/12/2019 19:11

I like cooking, does that count, I love kitchen gadgets, asked for a new vacuum cleaner off my mum for Christmas!

lifeisgoodagain · 03/12/2019 19:14

@letsgomaths

I don't play but I love sitting in the dark church listening to the organist practice, or on Christmas Eve sitting in silence with just the apse lit (because the choir are still propping up the bar in the pub). Quite magical

SexlessBoulderBelly · 03/12/2019 20:33

Going to Asda, b&m and home bargains. I love walking down the homely isles looking for small items that can liven up my home.

And I also stop off in the cleaning isle for some washing beads, zoflora and new sponges.

23 going on 65 I think.

Kelp23 · 03/12/2019 21:06

My new shark Hoover. Love love love it!

Lotus90 · 03/12/2019 21:08

Cleaning!

MsChatterbox · 03/12/2019 21:13

I second walking back into rooms I've tidied. I then stand there for a ridiculous amount of time just staring at it all.

clary · 03/12/2019 21:16

Loving these! Mine would be:

Clean fresh ironed sheets esp if line dried (sadly not at mo)
Lots of lovely food in cuboards and fridge (esp at Christmas)
All the ironing done and away
Night in when all the boys are out (usually at a footy match) and I can watch whatever carp I like without someone coming in and saying "what's this crap?"

Pascha · 03/12/2019 21:19

Ironing. The satisfaction that comes with a neatly folded ironed pile of clothes I baskets all ready to go upstairs is immense.
