What 'boring/stupid' adult things do you get excited about?

For example I bought a spray mop in the black Friday sales and I was so excited for it to arrive that I used it as soon as it was delivered on Saturday morning. Just used it again this morning and it brings me so much joy I don't know why Grin

I really love it after doing a food shop and the cupboards have food in and its just a really pleasant feeling.
I love it when all my clothes are ironed (which is NEVER).

Sunnysidegold · 03/12/2019 06:18

I got a cordless vacuum recently and I love the fact I can nip round and hoover so quickly and easily. I hoover a lot more because it's so satisfying.

I get excited putting my key in the front door and do a little excited "I own this house, this door is mine" dance in my head.

Elllicam · 03/12/2019 06:22

Doing a big shop and having the cupboards full of food.

TheNavigator · 03/12/2019 06:22

My DD says you can tell you are old when you start to notice and admire trees. I love a beautiful tree, it brightens my day.

MarshallPNutt · 03/12/2019 06:49

Bin day 😀

evilharpy · 03/12/2019 07:14

The Lakeland catalogue

Ginfordinner · 03/12/2019 07:24

Getting anything new for the kitchen
Putting the room back together after finishing the decorating
The feeling of satisfaction after deep cleaning the kitchen
Decluttering
Watching people unwrap presents I have bought them
Getting into bed with clean sheets after a shower
The smell of line dried washing

userxx · 03/12/2019 07:30

Washing on the clothes line on a sunny day. I can literally lose 10 minutes just watching the duvet cover waft in the breeze. WTF is that about 😬.

Ragwort · 03/12/2019 07:32

A night in on my own, like tonight, I am stupidly excited Grin

DuploRelatedInjury · 03/12/2019 07:38

I love using the steam mop. It just glides, no puddles, dries fast. Amazing.

Having a favourite tea and buying that one, not the one on offer. Also finding a decent decaf tea.

When get around to reorganising the books/dvds etc so they're all on the shelves properly and in order.

DappledThings · 03/12/2019 07:39

SandyClawsIsComingToTown Me too! We just did DC1's primary school application and I was disappointed how short it was.

The best form is the census one. I'm already excited for it in 2021

Pepperwand · 03/12/2019 08:44

My new instant pot. I am ridiculously excited about it. Made spaghetti and meatballs in it last night as a trial run as it was great! I'm in love already.

Also with two young children, just any time I can have without them around. I love the bones of them but fantasise about going to the supermarket alone just for a break and a nice walk round at my leisure!

wanderings · 03/12/2019 09:23

@DappledThings I like the census form as well. I remember learning about it in 1991, when I was in my last year of primary school. Ten years later (which feels like a long time when you're eleven years old), I got to fill in my own one! Smile

I like sleep masks, especially the cute ones in Claire's Accessories; I have loads of them. We have a novel use for them: if I have one covering my eyes, I can be in the room while my DH wraps my presents: hearing him do this is another thing I get stupidly excited about. He usually makes me wear two or three of them, so he can be quite sure I can't see a thing! Xmas Wink

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 03/12/2019 09:30

You sad bastards. Don't you have proper lives?

Grin

I love doing the weekly shop (the horrific and time consuming life admin MN detests Wink) I have had to wean myself off my terrible online shopping habits and this is a good substitute. Every morning I add something to my basket and it pleases me, even if it's bread and milk Hmm)

DH loves folding washing. If I do the washing and hang it up, he comes along and re-folds/hangs it all - apparently his is The Correct Way I keep telling him MN will judge him controlling and advise me to get my ducks in a row.

DamsonOnThisDress · 03/12/2019 15:07

😁 And he will reorganise your ducks, WeBuilt.

FirenzeArno · 03/12/2019 16:01

Finding a new Zoflora I like 🙈

Echobelly · 03/12/2019 16:02

Singing a really good piece in my choir concerts

ComisSousDePartie · 03/12/2019 16:05

My best night ever would be bath, new Pjs AND socks, then undisturbed fiddling on ancestry.com

SexlessBoulderBelly · 03/12/2019 16:06

I love getting new kitchen utensils.

Show me that shines new spatula Grin

MustardScreams · 03/12/2019 16:10

Clearing out, cleaning and organising the fridge. I should put it on my dating profile as a hobby the amount of time I spend doing it. Everything has a specific box//shelf/place.

It’s weird because I’m slovenly in all other aspects of my housework life, but the fridge!!

CardiFree · 03/12/2019 16:11

I like rearranging my bookshelves, by author then theme.

We're a dying breed us bibliophiles.

MotherOfTheNoise · 03/12/2019 16:12

Buying some nice smelling floor wash for my new spray floor mop. I also bought the matching smelling worktop spray too.

And I LOVE using the squeegee after anyone's had a shower. So sparkly!!

Love a food shop. Seeing all the food makes me do a happy dance after years of scrimping.

reginafelangee · 03/12/2019 16:19

New socks Smile and fresh sheets.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/12/2019 16:27

Wine.
Black bin day.
Booking a holiday.

dalmatianmad · 03/12/2019 16:35

My shark Hoover, I love him.

I like cleaning windows.

I love cleaning the cooker and dread it getting dirty.

I just like cleaning in general!
