What would you take if you were to spend the night in a haunted house?

Because I'm going to stay in one tomorrow night that is apparently haunted by a poltergeist (I'm sceptical, my mum asked me to go...)
I have to take a sleeping bag if I want to sleep (there are beds but no bedding)
A torch and spare batteries (because batteries drain quickly inside the house apparently)
Food for breakfast, snacks, teabags, milk etc
Phone charger
Pyjamas/clothes and toothbrush obviously.

What else?

An Ouija board.A bible and loads of alcohol.

IScreamForIceCreams · 20/11/2019 18:19

Nappies!

alreadyinchristmasmood · 20/11/2019 18:24

The rules also say no idiots yet we're still going

Love your sarcasm, OP! Please do come back and update. Also, so curious: why no ouija boards?

dontalltalkatonce · 20/11/2019 18:26

Awesome! Tell us all about it tomorrow. I'd bring weed myself, roll a few spliffs or enough for a few bowls in a bong.

theluckiest · 20/11/2019 18:26

Stanz, Venkman, Spengler and Zeddemore...

And a massive bottle of gin. Shock

In all seriousness, I'd love to do this. My parents are both rather woo and pick up on vibes of places. I reckon I am utterly psychically challenged though as I've never so much as felt a vibe or shiver even in very haunted places...Sad

Pinkbonbon · 20/11/2019 18:44

Good thing they said no Ouijas as there is always some d*ck that thinks that shit is ok. Those boards can let stuff in that isn't already there. Not to mention lead to you being followed around by it for the rest of your life.

Just go along and enjoy the experience. Chances are nothing'll happen - but maybe that's a good thing xD

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/11/2019 18:45

It’s very outing because I’ve told the story in RL. But I did not except anything to happen. I’d heard the stories from my friend on a regular basis about the latest events of the poltergeist and took it with a pinch of salt.

Yes, things happened. All 3 of us were in the bedroom, no one else around and things moved, doors shook and noises occurred. My friend slept through the whole thing and my other friend and I held on to each other all night petrified. No way it was a joke or someone else. I can’t explain why what happened did. But I know what I saw.

Inebriati · 20/11/2019 19:36

OP, DS says if its a poltergeist you should take a tennis racket. OP. OP? you ok hun?

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 20/11/2019 19:50

Evening all! We've been here a couple of hours and not much has happened, except my mum was taking some photos on her phone and we both saw a dot of light fly past on her phone screen but not in the room itself iyswim? It happened a couple of times in different rooms!

COOL!

SalemTheTeenageWitch · 20/11/2019 20:45

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens Have you got salt?! Please update us with any woo goings-on Grin

HavelockVetinari · 20/11/2019 21:16

I don't believe in ghosts, but I'd take my phone with headphones to listen to ASMR to fall asleep (e.g. rain or crackling fire). And a nice warm sleeping bag!

prezziebox · 20/11/2019 21:38

Please update on anything that occurs! I love a good ghost story

mostlydrinkstea · 20/11/2019 22:00

I stayed in very old inn once. I had quite a disturbed night. Next morning I did check to see if it was haunted and it appeared it was famously so.

Words were had. Prayers were said. I suspect it was only a temporary fix but sleep was much better for the rest of the stay.

dontalltalkatonce · 20/11/2019 22:04

Yes, please let us know. I've lived in a few places that were . . . odd and unexplained. Had to cleanse this one but it's still grim AF and had nothing but bad luck.

Chuffingchuff · 20/11/2019 22:11

Exciting! My DH wants us to stay in a haunted pub but it's a no from me!

A bottle of Benedictine...

RhinoskinhaveI · 20/11/2019 23:12

Aren't you supposed to be saying the de profundis prayer?
'Out of the depths I have called to you' etc then again probably supposed to be saying it in Latin?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/11/2019 23:16

My mum and her friend have paid a fee

In that case she'll almost certainly "see" something - after all she's paid for it hasn't she? (And whoever took the fee will probably arrange for a few bangs against the window or whatever just to make sure)

safariboot · 21/11/2019 00:43

I hope you took your proton packs!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 21/11/2019 01:13

Not too much happening, a few random noises and friend went in the coal shed and said she had a hand passed over her face and momentarily blocked out the light from outside the door.

I can report that pretty much nothing happened apart from what I mentioned at 1.13am. Except there is a cabinet upstairs in one of the bedrooms and the door was slightly ajar, we pushed it closed and I've just been upstairs to check and it's open again Shock The door catches slightly on the frame so it shouldn't really be able to swing open by itself Confused

Well, of course you aren’t allowed to ‘exorcise’ spirits if the house owners are making money from gullible ghost hunters!

What a brilliant money-making wheeze. Like running an Air BnB without having to provide bedding or breakfast, and presumably ‘guests’ can’t claim your money back if you don’t get the Full Ghostly Experience.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 21/11/2019 13:34

Ooh and yes the PP was correct, we stayed at 30 East Drive. They have a big TV and a DVD player with 3 DVD's about the house that you can watch. We watched Paranormal Lockdown, a special episode about the Black Monk house. Was really weird watching a documentary about a house that I was sitting in Grin
