What would you take if you were to spend the night in a haunted house?

Because I'm going to stay in one tomorrow night that is apparently haunted by a poltergeist (I'm sceptical, my mum asked me to go...)
I have to take a sleeping bag if I want to sleep (there are beds but no bedding)
A torch and spare batteries (because batteries drain quickly inside the house apparently)
Food for breakfast, snacks, teabags, milk etc
Phone charger
Pyjamas/clothes and toothbrush obviously.

What else?

Some sort of zappy gun like the type they had on Ghostbusters. And something to wipe the ectoplasm off!

Weloveoptimus · 20/11/2019 09:06

Ooh! Are you staying at 30 East Drive?

IdblowJonSnow · 20/11/2019 09:08

This is the kind of thing I think is a load of nonsense in the day but would shit myself at night! I've sensed many things but not really seen anything. My last house was pretty spooky and my dd used to see things when she was 3.

SalemTheTeenageWitch · 20/11/2019 09:21

Oh OP, I am looking forwards to hearing how you get on!
Definitely take some salt, a torch and make sure that you are calm. Apparently it is easier to become possessed if you are frightened etc.
I watch to many horror films.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 20/11/2019 09:40

@IdblowJonSnow same here. Like right now I don't believe a word of it but tonight I'll probably be wrapped up tightly in my sleeping bag desperately trying to pretend I didn't hear any perfectly normal mysterious noises like creaking floorboards etc.

Torch
Cake
Phone
The Bible/prayer book
Tardis for a quick escape (although who knows what else is out there?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 20/11/2019 09:49

Salt
A cross
Plenty of underwear
Ear plugs
Camera

tearsofrobertsmith · 20/11/2019 09:52

Me too!

Dowser · 20/11/2019 09:54

I’d be taking some crystals with me and maybe some orgonite .
My pendulum in case it wanted to communicate with me as I’m not clairaudient
Some candles
A few spirit guides

daffydowndilys · 20/11/2019 09:58

Ooh can you do us a live feed tonight? 😁

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 20/11/2019 10:01

I will probably come back and update a few times during the night, with photos if I get any!

Donkey shot is spot on
Lost souls are all around us because they are just lost.
At the time of their passing for whatever reason they didn’t go straight to the light.
I’ve done a house healing on my home ( with the guidance of an excellent tutor) and there were 5 in here. I was totally unaware of them which is good but they do pull down your energy over time.
If I were going to that house, I’d begin my dowsing with a little prayer, asking for protection because at the point I wouldn’t know how detrimental they were...( you know you can bring them in with you don’t you btw)

Then if there are any there, I’d ask how many and I d ask how detrimental each one was
I’d ask if they’d like to go to the light and if so could I help them

Once that is established I’d do a healing ceremony which takes up to an hour depending on how many there are.
I’m still just learning. At the beginning I would dowse to see if they were male, female, how old , when they died etc
Now I don’t tend to bother interacting like that , if they are happy to go, I’m happy to help them

When I stay away from home I always do a clearing on the room and remove any negative bed patterns.
At home before sleep, I always do a clearing on myself, husband and because I live in a semi our next door neighbour..as if there’s a negative energy in her house it might impact on us.

I must be doing a good job. I’ve just DowseD and we have no negative entities or lost souls in the house.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 20/11/2019 10:18

It's a poltergeist though, not a ghost.

Shit loads of vodka.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 20/11/2019 10:27

@Dowser actually I'm pretty sure that would count as an exorcism of sorts and that's strictly not allowed either.

OP posts:
Dowser · 20/11/2019 10:34

Ah right...yes I can understand that

RhinoskinhaveI · 20/11/2019 11:27

In the house for a last lived both my husband and my daughter said they saw a ghost, actually I did also see a figure standing by my bed and I woke up once, I've always thought of it as a hypnagogic hallucination but perhaps it was more than that.
I think you can cultivate and invite these things but I live alone now and I don't think I want any ghostly company because I get spooked very easily 🙈 👻🙈

pooopypants · 20/11/2019 11:31

Spare pants

Updates most definitely needed OP!

You might be as well asking on the 'unexplained' board too

MurrayTheMonk · 20/11/2019 16:56

I'm convinced my house is haunted. It doesn't bother me a jot. But then it doesn't feel threatening really...
Would advise taking a light and maybe a portable radio to block out any noises they might make you nervous.

Place marking, I love this thread!👻

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/11/2019 17:06

Are planning on staying awake?

I stayed at my friends haunted house once, she had a poltergeist there and refused to stay alone when her parents were away. I went along to keep her company because these things don’t exist.

Let’s say, I changed my mind that night.

cockerspaniellover · 20/11/2019 17:38

@DobbyTheHouseElk Shock what happened??

managedmis · 20/11/2019 17:41

Forgive my ignorance : salt?

managedmis · 20/11/2019 17:42

@Wearywithteens I pride myself on being fairly practical most of the time but also a lot of weird "woo" has happened in my life - within the last year I've heard horsemen behind me in broad daylight at Bosworth Battlefield when there was no one about, and within the last week I've encountered particularly weird patches of mist on country roads as well as a presence in a friend's house that is not friendly. I now need to work out what to do about the last one as I usually live a long way away from her so I can't just go in there and ask it to leave nicely with a bit of persuasion like I would if it was in my own house. There are lots of other examples from throughout my entire life. Lots of the time it has just been "feelings" but in the last three or four years (since the menopause) I've started hearing things and occasionally seeing things too. And no, it's not my imagination: they have often occurred in the presence of others, who have also seen or heard them too.

As a consequence one of my areas of interest is what used to be described as the occult. As you can now pretty much find a New Age shop wherever you are dealing in these sort of books and items now, it's much less occult than it used to be.

Anyway, salt. One of the ways to cleanse a room is to sprinkle a bit of salt in each corner (ideally rock or sea salt). If you want to go the whole hog, as it were, you can use something to represent all of the four elements - salt representing earth, incense representing air, a candle representing fire, and water that has had the Lord's Prayer said over it [or equivalent, depending on your beliefs] representing water. If you are able to get hold of Chalice Well water or blessed water or similar that can also work. I always like to do this if I move somewhere new. I also studied both massage and Reiki and will sometimes use the Reiki symbols to clear and/or protect a room or space, or myself. Whether it actually works or not can't be scientifically proven with the instruments we currently have at our disposal, but then once upon a time electricity seemed like witchcraft. And what it does do is settle me down.

Anyway, when it comes to salt, things inside a circle of salt should be more protected, psychically, than things outside the circle. Rock salt or sea salt are best, but in a pinch, table salt will do....
