Humph!

peridito · 20/11/2019 18:33

"It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family's work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support.

"Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.

"I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.

"His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.

Yes, I watched the dispatches documentary. It honestly make me feel sick. I didn’t really know who GE was or what he had done apart from being a sex offender.

Disgusting that PA thinks having him as a mate is ok.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/11/2019 18:37

I hope William and Catherine choose to avoid holidaying with an associate of JE in the future (Balmoral etc).

LarkDescending · 20/11/2019 18:37

I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission

"Mummy summoned me to her room, and was very cross. I am grounded until further notice".

CathyorClaire · 20/11/2019 18:38

Retiring from public duties means he gets even more time to fuck about doing fuck all on the public dollar Angry

sue51 · 20/11/2019 18:40

Does this mean he won't receive money from the civil list and will have to live on his pension?

LarkDescending · 20/11/2019 18:42

The civil list was abolished in 2013.

Andrew's funding arrangements since then are summarised here:

thedukeofyork.org/other/faqs/

ajandjjmum · 20/11/2019 18:44

The Civil List doesn't exist any more.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/11/2019 18:44

There isn’t a civil list per se. The Queen is given a sovereign grant and she distributes amongst her family as she sees fit.
Andrew will continue to be subsidised by mum.

I wonder if he will continue as Colonel in Chief of the Grenadier guards?
That is a pretty high profile role. He’s only been doing it for a couple of years.

He needs to go off to a 3 rd world country and do some proper charity work. Dig ditches and get his handS dirty.
He can’t play golf and hang out with dodgy billionaires for the next 40 years.... ( but he probably will)

LarkDescending · 20/11/2019 18:44

Sorry, should have said the Civil List was abolished in 2012 (consequent on the implementation of the Sovereign Grant Act 2011).

CathyorClaire · 20/11/2019 18:45

I think he's funded by the queen (and his navy pension of £20K) rather than directly from the civil list, Sue

DM had an interesting article this morning about how he may fund his £12K Apple watches and £13M Swiss chalets. I think there' are likely to be plenty more unsavoury revelations in the pipeline.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/11/2019 18:47

I don't think this man should be anywhere near vulnerable women and children in countries with little to no rights.

HiHoToffee · 20/11/2019 18:50

Damage limitation.
A little too late though

Now start talking and answer at least a few of the questions the victims still have.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/11/2019 18:52

don't think this man should be anywhere near vulnerable women and children in countries with little to no rights.

Good point.
He could still do some conservation work away from people.

Annasgirl · 20/11/2019 18:52

*He needs to go off to a 3 rd world country and do some proper charity work. Dig ditches and get his handS dirty

I don't think this man should be anywhere near vulnerable women and children in countries with little to no rights.*

I second that this man should be nowhere near people who rely on charity - how patronising to people who spend their lives helping others either overseas or in the UK, and how insulting to those who depend on this charity.

MakeMineALargeProsecco · 20/11/2019 18:53

It's just been announced on the BBC website that he's stepping back from Royal Duties!!!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/11/2019 18:55

Now to ship off to the USA

No chance at all; we'll doubtless be told the arrangements for "questioning" are being discussed, right up to the point when attention moves on - when it'll be quietly forgotten about

7Days · 20/11/2019 18:56

Thanks for the link to the first thread.
Off I go down the rabbit hole....

Elodie2019 · 20/11/2019 19:00

So he's stepping back from Royal duties. Bit like retirement then. Will he receive a pension?

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/11/2019 19:03

According to BBC radio 4 he came to the decision after a series of meetings with the Queen and other senior royals.

SirHumphreyDrinkalot · 20/11/2019 19:11

Philip obviously gave him the “WTF” talking to and PA has had to do as he’s told.

HabbyHadno · 20/11/2019 19:12

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that before Diana died she said she was planning to share some unsavoury details about the Royals. It keeps popping into my mind that all this Saville/PA stuff might have been exactly what she was on about before she died.

AnyMinuteNow · 20/11/2019 19:25

It is worryingthat there are deaths around these revelations through history. If diana was going to reveal, and je didn't kill himself, the person that accused the guy from the pp youtube bonkers video (royal mug and obvious ring)...and others.

I worry for VG. I hope she stays safe with her family.
