Here is another thread to discuss the PA interview and its repercussions.

Epstein also managed (Sarah's) huge debts of £15M or whatever it was, by facilitating help

He also did it soon after Andrew's four day visit to New York, yet we're still expected to believe he really only went there to say the friendship was off

Interesting about Fergie also visiting the palace yesterday, though. I've always believed she knows too much to be cut free and I'd have given a lot to be a fly on the wall for that

Strawberrycreamsundae · 21/11/2019 17:47

I can't help thinking something even bigger is going to erupt from the morass PA is wallowing in.

Re other members of the RF, I'm another in their 60's and well remember local gossip about Princess Margaret and parties at Surrendell Farm, near to where I lived; she was completely out of control for years, Snowdon was bisexual and notorious for his dalliances too.

It's a pity PA can't be exiled to a rock somewhere in the Atlantic, along with his ghastly wife.

Hoooo · 21/11/2019 17:52

Haven't rtft, sorry, but surely now his other daughter wont have a state funded wedding??

Alluded to in the film The Bank Job" a few years back ...

The British Security Services (MI5) have taken interest in a safety deposit box that is located in a Lloyd's Bank branch on the corner of Baker Street and Marylebone Road. It belongs to a black militant gangster, Michael X, and contains compromising photos of Princess Margaret,[7] which he is keeping as insurance to keep the British authorities off his back. Martine Love, an ex-model who is romantically involved with MI5 agent Tim Everett, is caught at Heathrow Airport smuggling drugs into the country, and to avoid going to jail, she makes a deal with the authorities whereby she agrees to retrieve the photos.

SerendipityJane · 21/11/2019 17:59

Mention of Princess Margaret links to John Bindon one time security guard for Led Zeppelin in their latter years. There was an ITV documentary about him a while back, and his pint glass party trick.

With due respect, there is a big difference for an adult having an affair with another adult, rather than an adult having sex(raping) a minor.

CathyorClaire · 21/11/2019 18:29

Princess Margaret was the arrogant, entitled blueprint for PA.

Foul woman.

RaymondStopThat · 21/11/2019 18:41

For those of you who remember the Squidgygate tapes, this section is even more astonishing now....

DIANA: "Jimmy Savile rang me up yesterday, and he said, 'I'm just ringing up, my girl, to tell you that His Nibs has asked me to come and help out the redhead, and I'm just letting you know, so that you don't find out through her or him;and I hope it's all right by you.'
And I said, 'Jimmy, you do what you like.'"

GILBEY: "What do you mean, 'help out the redhead,' Darling?"

DIANA: "Sort her out. He said, 'You can't change a lame duck, but I've got to talk to her, 'cause that's the boss's orders, and I've got to carry them out. But I want you to know that you're my number-one-girl, and I'm not....'"

GILBEY: "Oh, Darling, that's not fair, you're my number-one-girl!"

DIANA: [ speaking to her son in the background, mouth away from the phone] "Harry,it might be in my bathroom.[ louder, speaking into phone ] What did you say? You didn't say anything about babies, did you?"

GILBEY: "No."

DIANA: "No?"

GILBEY: "Why, Darling?"

DIANA: [ laughing ] "I thought you did."

GILBEY: "Did you?"

DIANA: "Yes!"

GILBEY: "Did you, Darling? You have got them on the brain."

DIANA: "Well, yeah, maybe I.....well, actually, I don't think I am going to be able to, for ages."

GILBEY: "I think you've got bored with the idea, actually."

DIANA: "I'm going to!!!!"

GILBEY: "You are, aren't you? It was a sort of hot flush you went through."

DIANA: "A very hot flush!"

GILBEY: "Darling, when he says, 'His Nibs rang [ him ] up,' does he mean your 'other-half',or 'PA'?"

DIANA: "Eh? My 'other-half'??"

GILBEY: "Your 'other-half.'" [ Prince Charles ]

DIANA: "Yes."

GILBEY: "Does he get on well with him?"

DIANA: "Sort of mentor. Talk in the mouthpiece! You moved away."

NormaBean · 21/11/2019 18:52

I’m confused. So Prince Charles called Jimmy Savile to ask him to ‘sort out’ Fergie?

RaymondStopThat · 21/11/2019 19:00

That appears to be the case Shock

OxfordCat · 21/11/2019 19:03

I wonder why Fergie was summoned to Buck House? Any ideas?

I'm not a royalist, but on a human level I feel SO sorry for the Queen this week. Her husbands living away in Norfolk, her grandsons are at war and her son is away in Oz. She was filmed at some event last night, doing her duty before going back to the palace alone. It was her wedding anniversary too. I don't know, but on a human level I just feel sorry for her and wanted to giver her a hug. Who does she have around her, to talk to? I hope someone nice in her family goes and visits her to cheer her up- eg Prince Harry.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 21/11/2019 19:07

She’s reportedly very close to Sophie so hopefully she can give her some support. HM role though one of privilege is I’m positive at times a lonely one.

BertrandRussell · 21/11/2019 19:08

“ I wonder why Fergie was summoned to Buck House? Any ideas?“
To talk money, I suppose.

I wonder why she wasn’t taken in round the back.

RaymondStopThat · 21/11/2019 19:15

Won't the Queen have a host of ladies in waiting who are friends and confidantes?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/11/2019 19:15

Andrew is going to Bahrain tomorrow for his pitch@thepalace event.
She probably just needed to speak to him in person.
I reckon Andrew will spend more time in the Middle East.
Women have fewer rights and he is a Prince so he may get a more sympathetic audience.

SerendipityJane · 21/11/2019 19:17

How does that square with "giving up all duties for the time being" ?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/11/2019 19:18

There was a line in a recent episode of the crown when all the royals were being filmed sitting together watching tv.
Helena bonham Carter as Princess Margaret said «this is not normal; we all sit on our own in our own palaces».
I think now Phillip is unwell, and retired, the Queen actually spends a lot of time alone.
Hopefully she will see Harry, Meghan and Archie at Windsor this weekend.

He’s desperate to hang onto it

TartanTexan · 21/11/2019 19:20

@NormaBean it seems Jimmy S was some sort of trusted confidant/‘marriage guidance’ advisor for RF. Why not use professionals?

spacepyramid · 21/11/2019 19:23

The Tower would have been pressed into service if all this was happening a few hundred years ago.

DianaT1969 · 21/11/2019 19:26

Jimmy S was a Northern DJ. He wouldn't normally have access to the RF. So did he know where the bodies were buried? He gave me the creeps as a child watching him on screen. Really disliked the man. Seriously, how broken must the radar of Prince Charles and any other Royals who gave him close access be?

beanaseireann · 21/11/2019 19:52

What concerns me re Jimmy Saville is that he was involved in The Central Remedial Clinic, set up in Dublin by Lady Valerie Goulding for people, including children, with disabilities.
Jimmy Saville did a sponsored walk, with many supporters, in Dublin, run by a now defunct national newspaper over a few years. He was feted.
He would have had access to very vulnerable children and young people.
There has been no inquiry into his behaviour while on his trips to Ireland. These vulnerable people are perhaps forgotten victims.
It makes me very sad.
I do wish an investigative journalist would delve into it.
I know our national broadcaster RTE has done some amazing investigative work in recent years.
Perhaps one of the RTE Investigates team is a Mumsnetter and sees this and ......

Sorry for derailing the thread.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/11/2019 20:02

I don't know how Savile got the access he did. Apparently he had a flat in a hospital and used to volunteer to take the dead bodies to the morgue. What sort of hospital administrators allowed this? Surely volunteering to do the morgue run was an indication that he was a very dodgy individual??

NormaBean · 21/11/2019 20:06

Oh I see @TartanTexan, that’s a very good point. Thank you, I completely missed it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/11/2019 20:08

Nor do I understand why he served as marriage counsellor to Charles and Di. Even if they had no knowledge of his paedo activities, he'd never been married and had written an autobiography detailing his liaisons with young women!
