I love M&S Percy Pig sweets. But they are £1.69 per pack.
So I buy ‘Dinky Dogs’ from Poundland which are practically almost the same.

Do you know of other cheaper versions / imitations of products (be it food, drink, anything really!) that you can share?

Lidl Newgate tomato soup is 35p a tin, Heinz is 95p. They taste the same.

TitchyP · 13/11/2019 23:57

Clyde the Caterpillar from Asda is just as good as Colin, IMO.

Lemongrasssugar · 14/11/2019 00:00

Lidl's raw virgin coconut oil is the same as the expensive one you buy in holland and barrett. Vita something.

Aldi hob nobs are better than McVities. Their jelly babies are better than Bassetts.

bakedbeanzontoast · 14/11/2019 00:10

Aldi shredded wheat and Waitrose corns flakes are better than the brands 👍🏻

Eckhart · 14/11/2019 00:11

Morrison's Baileys knock off is nice. It's not quite as good as Baileys, but it's plenty nice enough to justify the price difference. Unless you're drinking Baileys regularly, you wouldn't know the difference.

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/11/2019 00:16

Morrison's savers Jaffa cakes are really good. I did a taste test with my brownies and they all thought the savers Jaffa cakes are the most expensive because they were so much better than the others (mcvities)

PigletJohn · 14/11/2019 00:33

Aldi Mayo

Aldi chocolate

Aldi croissants, pains au chocolat, pains aux raisins etc

ElizaStrawberry · 14/11/2019 00:41

Any of Lidl's olives, sundried tomatoes, roasted peppers, artichokes etc. Also their butter with the same colours as Anchor spreadable.

SapphireSeptember · 14/11/2019 00:59

I can't say for sure if they're as good, but if an expensive make-up brand comes out with an eyeshadow palette I like the look of I wait for Revolution to dupe it. Way cheaper and their eyeshadow formula is the best I've used from 'high street' brands.

Agree with Aldi chocolate buttons! They are delicious.

I prefer own brand yeast extract to Marmite. Tesco's is the best but Sainsbury's will do. I haven't tried any others but Asda is supposed to be good.

Most supermarket value ranges are good value and better quality than you think. This is very half remembered but I read something about how they are deliberately packaged to deter people from buying them and so you think they are super cheap quality. They have them to bring savvy shoppers into the shop on the basis that if you can get them in they will spend more on brands with bigger mark ups. I probably haven't explained that well and it maybe totally misremembered.

SerafinaPekkalasbroomstick · 14/11/2019 01:26

Own brand shreddies. The real ones taste weird and go soggy so fast, yuck.

Broken11Girl · 14/11/2019 03:04

Agree with Lidl.
Ikwym Dorothy, it's the packaging that you pay for, or don't.

Greyhound22 · 14/11/2019 06:03

Aldi 'Baileys' and 'Malibu' copies. Can't tell the difference.

BettyCrockaShit · 14/11/2019 06:19

Twin Peaks from Poundland - arguable better than the Toblerone it's trying to pass itself off as.

motherheroic · 14/11/2019 06:28

Aldis pringles and Asda wine gums.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/11/2019 06:30

Superdrug "Blossom" just like Thierry Mugler "Alien"

Honeybee85 · 14/11/2019 06:33

Make Up Revolution Highlighters (especially the one in Pink Lights) just as good as MAC or other high end brands.

acrazy · 14/11/2019 06:36

Aldi's hula hoop crisps are made in the same factory as the original branded ones, they're exactly the same but way cheaper

Anyoneever · 14/11/2019 06:38

Aldi mayonnaise is lovely. Waitrose mayonnaise, however, is completely inedible - truly foul. That surprised me.

Rimmel eye primer is better than the Utban Decay potion one (IMO).

FamilyOfAliens · 14/11/2019 06:45

Aldi dry gin won a Daily Telegraph wine club taste test a couple of years ago, beating all the branded ones including a Heston one costing three times as much. It’s £14.99 for a litre.

And M&S Butterfly fragrance - smells just like the DKNY apple fragrance - think it’s Be Delicious.

BelfastNonBlonde · 14/11/2019 06:48

Gutted we‘ve no Aldis in N Ireland..! 👎

MustardScreams · 14/11/2019 07:02

Primark Ultimate Matte or whatever it’s called is better than Double Wear and is a fiver.

Aldi wotsits are way better than the originals.

Also Aldi scented candles and their reed diffusers smell about 10x more expensive than they are.

MustardScreams · 14/11/2019 07:03

Ooh and the NYX born to glow is loads better than MAC strobe cream and about a 1/3 of the price.

MagicKingdom17 · 14/11/2019 07:08

Aldi’s knock off Pixi’s Rose Tonic.
It’s about £15 cheaper than the original & I can’t tell the difference.
