DP bought me a ‘treat’ from the shop... (lighthearted)

I got a call from DP earlier to say he managed to get away from work early so stopped and done the shopping (a treat in itself!) he then tells me he picked me up a treat.. Just what I needed after a stressful day at work I thought!

I’m thinking maybe it’s something tasty to have after the tea I was then cooking or a nice bottle of wine rather than the cheap stuff I’d buy myself!

He gets in, I start putting he shopping away whilst he changes out of his work things, he then comes in the kitchen with a big smile on his face just as I’m getting 3 packs of asparagus with 50% off labels on out of the bag and says ‘oh you found your treat then’

My treat was bloody reduced asparagus, that I apparently don’t buy much. The reason behind that being I don’t really like it.. Grin

The thought was there though and I did thank him through gritted teeth Grin

😂 That’s am awful treat

PigeonPieForMe · 06/11/2019 18:48

I love asparagus but even I'd be forced to beat him to death with the bunches he bought.

user1498572889 · 06/11/2019 18:48

☹️ cook it all at once and give it to him for dinner then go and buy yourself a nice bottle of wine.

Southmouth · 06/11/2019 18:53

I was planning on cooking a roast tomorrow, tempted to just serve him a plate of boiled asparagus whilst he watches me eat Grin

He’s very thoughtful in other ways so I can’t complain that mine and his idea of a treat are on completely different levels!

I was offered a millennium falcon chopping board as a treat gift today, unsurprisingly I declined Grin

EggysMom · 06/11/2019 19:12

I was offered a millennium falcon chopping board as a treat gift today

And yet to some of us, that would be welcomed, grabbed, and given price of place Grin

Nighttimefreedom · 06/11/2019 19:16

Is it possibly because its supposed to make semen taste better.... maybe that's the treat...

PerpendicularVincent · 06/11/2019 19:19

No chocolate or crisps?! The only option is divorce.

theboxfamilytree · 06/11/2019 19:21

I know people who would have been thrilled by that. I am not one of them.

OctoberLovers · 06/11/2019 19:23

Wonder what his thought process was....

InsertFunnyUsername · 06/11/2019 19:31

Does he like it 🤔

I craved gherkins in my last pregnancy so DP still comes home with them. Dont have the heart to tell him that I find them meh now.

BeeFarseer · 06/11/2019 19:33

Dare you to stick them in a vase and display them like flowers. Flowers Grin

Mothership4two · 06/11/2019 19:34

Asparagus apparently makes semen taste unpleasant @Nighttimefreedom, it's pineapple that is supposed to make it taste sweet/pleasant. This is not from personal experience!

From the title of this thread, I was really expecting a sex toy Grin

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/11/2019 19:35

No!!!!!! Shoving the asparagus somewhere dark is the only option.

DH was asked to make me a sandwich for work last week. He used a Dairylea triangle. I hate Dairylea! Doesn’t he know me at all?!?

ChunkyKnit · 06/11/2019 19:35

My husband rang me on his way home from the ship and said he’d picked me up something nice.

Silvermints Hmm

LabellaChicca · 06/11/2019 19:36

Men.... my last treat was : firming cream... don’t know how to take it

KipperTheFrog · 06/11/2019 19:37

I love asparagus, but its not a treat. Never boil it though Shock griddle with garlic and butter is the way to cook it.

SubstantialDroop · 06/11/2019 19:39

Not even in season, is it? Get him a box of nails as a treat next time you pass b and a Grin

Southmouth · 06/11/2019 19:40

Loving the idea to display them in a vase, I could put them on my kitchen windowsill Grin

He’s not a massive fan of them either Hmm I think he missed of been drawn to the half price sticker..

Me and DP went shopping for tea once and he picked up this creamy chicken ready meal type thing that you chuck in the oven. We’ve tried it before and I absolutely hated it. So I reminded him how much I didn’t like it so he put it down and we chose something else.

3/4 days later he offers to pick something up on the way home for tea.

He came home with the disgusting chicken in creamy sauce oven meal thing. I said “oh did you get me something different then?” He said no he thought I liked it last time! He never bloody listens!

Nighttimefreedom · 06/11/2019 19:41

Mothership4two it already tastes unpleasant

AIBanUemployee · 06/11/2019 19:41

How funny.

I did a minor good turn for someone a few years back. They asked me if I liked grapes. I said don't be silly, I don't need anything for taking you to the shop. When they got into the car, I was handed a bag of celery with the comment, they didn't have any grapes on offer. Said person was over 90 and I did giggle not least because I have a pathological dislike of celery.

TiceCream · 06/11/2019 19:42

I remember when my DH “treated” me to a peg basket. He didn’t make that mistake again.

MitziK · 06/11/2019 19:56

Surely he wouldn't need to - now you've got a peg basket, thanks to him?

Mothership4two · 06/11/2019 20:02
