DP bought me a ‘treat’ from the shop... (lighthearted)

I got a call from DP earlier to say he managed to get away from work early so stopped and done the shopping (a treat in itself!) he then tells me he picked me up a treat.. Just what I needed after a stressful day at work I thought!

I’m thinking maybe it’s something tasty to have after the tea I was then cooking or a nice bottle of wine rather than the cheap stuff I’d buy myself!

He gets in, I start putting he shopping away whilst he changes out of his work things, he then comes in the kitchen with a big smile on his face just as I’m getting 3 packs of asparagus with 50% off labels on out of the bag and says ‘oh you found your treat then’

My treat was bloody reduced asparagus, that I apparently don’t buy much. The reason behind that being I don’t really like it.. Grin

The thought was there though and I did thank him through gritted teeth Grin

Asparagus is an aphrodisiac so if you eat 3 packets he probably thinks he will get the ride of his life.

@TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead god I'd kill for a hot dog. Am pregnant though Grin

Bluerussian · 08/11/2019 01:48

That really is quite funny :-).

BrendasUmbrella · 08/11/2019 02:29

Make sure you share the "gift" generously and give him a plentiful serving for dinner when it's your turn to make it.

JenniR29 · 08/11/2019 02:39

I was offered a millennium falcon chopping board as a treat gift today, unsurprisingly I declined grin

I’ll take it off your hands! I need this chopping board in my life 😂

I have a doctor who chopping board (which was a surprise gift from DP!) and it’s too nice to use so is displayed on the kitchen side.

He keeps making jelly lately ‘for me to take to work’...... that one is a bit odd.

DH came home after a conference, declared he'd brought a treat back for me. I'd had nice pastries in the past so presumed it was that.

Told me to close my eyes and proudly presented me with a slightly bruised pear wrapped in a napkin. He had no understanding that it was disappointing.

We had a meeting in Germany once. Everyone was given a heavy glass stein with the company name on it and the event date, at the airport a couple of the guys went off to get their partners presents. One man said oh I don't need to, I will just give her this, holding up the stein. 🤣

I need a doctor who chopping board.

This reminds me of my DSF... he said for weeks how excited he was to give DM a "big surprise" for her birthday... on said birthday, he presented her with a small box, just the right size to contain jewellery.

DM unwrapped a portable weather station that tells you everything the weather app on your phone does... 😂

Cheer up OP at least it wasn't a voucher for a spa day! Smile

I once sent Dh to the shop for shampoo and conditioner...
He came back with shampoo and Lenor

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 08/11/2019 13:29

I use Lenor (other conditioners are available) on my hair.

Dizzywizz · 09/11/2019 21:51

As in the fabric conditioner @JosephineDeBeauharnais?

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 10/11/2019 08:30

Yes Dizzy. Not all the time, but often enough. I don't use it in my wash though Grin.

One Christmas I opened a present from dh that he was all excited about giving me and watching me closely as I opened it.
It was a game - Carcassonne. I’d vaguely heard of it but I’m really not into games so thought ah maybe it’s one of those presents that he’s bought for me as he wants to play it himself and thinks I’ll have to play if it is my game rather than his.
Shrugged, said thank you and moved on to the next present.
Dh looked surprised and asked if I was really pleased with it and that he was really chuffed with himself for figuring out my clue so thought I would have been a little more grateful.
I had to ask him what on eatleth he was on about as he knew I didn’t like playing games so was surprised that he had given me one.
He insisted that I wanted one and that I had left the details out for him as a hint.
Couldn’t figure it out for ages then realised that I’d been reading a magazine in the bath, got to a stopping point so had left the mag open folded back on itself and put the mag face down on the page I wanted so it was ready to pick up the next time. Turned out there was a half page ad for carcassonne on the page that was left upwards and as it was a few days until I got back to reading my mag, dh had seen the ad there for several days and thought I was leaving him a message... Me - completely oblivious having not reached the page in the mag and when I did I hadn’t even bothered to read the ad as I don’t like games.

Poor dh was so upset because he had been so pleased with himself for picking up on my clue. Game is still unopened in the cupboard.

Christmas present inspiration, just bought a chopping board!

One Christmas, my uncle bought my aunt one of those tartan shopping trolleys. She was in her 30s and DEVASTATED! He is a very practical person so thought it was a great present. She would’ve preferred a Cath Kidson shopper.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 10/11/2019 11:09

I want a USS Enterprise pizza cutter!

HerondaleDucks · 10/11/2019 11:13

Last December, I'd had a bad day at work so my DH said I could have an early present as it would cheer me up. It was a blackhead removal kit ... to help him remove his blackheads.
😂

Aww makes me appreciate my DP. I do most of the shopping (he does most of the cleaning) but when I ask him to go to the supermarket he always buys me flowers.
