How do i use up 4.5kg of plain flour- DH fail!

Sent DH out to get strong white flour for bread making, he came back with plain flour.

I only use it for a roux sauce and occassional biscuit baking.

How am i going to use all this up! Xmas Confused

Plain flour works well for making dough for pizza bases.
Have you got kids? You could make home made play dough.

Biscuits indeed - the recipe I use is Nigella and it uses LOADS of plain flour.

@NannyR that's a good one actually as DH does make a lovely pizza dough.

@katmarie with all this flour i may have to.

I did think maybe scones, but i usually use self raising. Could i just add baking powder to it?

Christmas baking. Mince pies, sausage rolls, pies and quiche for the freezer, Christmas cake can be made now too.

You just need to add baking powder to make SF if you use that a lot.

You can still make bread with plain flour, apparently. There are some recipes in Cooking on a Bootstrap by Jack Monroe.

Biscuit dough does freeze really well - you could make up a batch of gingerbread dough for christmas. However if the flour is in a properly sealed container it should last a good few months, so no rush to do anything with it.

Equal weight plain flour to Greek yogurt, seasoning and a good glug of olive oil makes the most delicious flatbreads.

Shape, and dry fry over a high heat until the bubble up and have dark spots over them. Put the extractor on! They freeze beautifully as well. Just defrost on the side for Ahalf an hour or so.

To make self raising just add 1/2 tsp each of baking powder and bicarb per 150g plain flour, and mix it well. (Used to do this a lot, I could never find self raising flour in american supermarkets when I lived over there for some reason).

Why don't you just take it back? I run a cookery school and often over buy. I've just been back to Asda and taken back packets of biscuits, chocolate and have taken back all sorts of food.

If you make all white bread then you can use half strong white and half plain.

If you use whole milk to mix the dough, the result is lovely, soft, white bread.

I've done this many times and works great.

You can store flour in the freezer. Might be a plan if you can't use it all quickly.

Just as katnarie says -half a teaspoon of bicarb and half a teaspoon of baking powder to make self raising.

Half and half with strong flour for bread.

You can freeze flour on it's own- we used to in order to prevent the weevils multiplying Envy - you dont need to convert to biscuit dough first.
