Sent DH out to get strong white flour for bread making, he came back with plain flour.

I only use it for a roux sauce and occassional biscuit baking.

How am i going to use all this up! Xmas Confused

Play dough

Letthemysterybe · 21/10/2019 20:57

We often have a crumble on a Sunday and get through quite a lot of plain flour.

Mix with water and fill balloons to make stress balls. Draw on a funny face too if you like.

I use 500g in one batch of scones.
And 1.5kg to make 3 lots of pastry for sausage rolls.
We bake a lot and this amount of flour (although it’s lots) wouldn’t really last too long at our house!

pelirocco123 · 21/10/2019 21:41

BouleBaker · 22/10/2019 13:11

Make pastry and freeze? Breakfast pancakes. I’ve added bicarbonate and baking soda in the past to make self raising and it’s fine.

GrumpyHoonMain · 22/10/2019 13:14

Make naan from it by adding yoghurt, salt, oil, leaving it to rise for an hour, rolling out individual portions, and cooking them in a pan. If you roll them evenly then they’ll rise.

safariboot · 22/10/2019 13:19

Keep it til next July then give it to your children for the end of the school year Grin.

geordiejock · 22/10/2019 13:26

Rather sadly I did a test a few years ago, 3 types of plain flour, cheapest, normal and strong, all kneaded and baked in exactly the same way. The cheapest was a bit flat but tasted fine, there wasn't much in it between normal and strong, both were fine, strong was just a bit nicer.
