This will probably bring people out the woodwork to say they hate so and so celebrity but who are the ones that you never really hear a bad word said about them? My nomination is: Dolly Parton.

Love Barack Obama too and Dolly 😊

browneyes77 · 21/10/2019 22:00

I met Rik Mayall years ago in a curry house in Cardiff. He was an absolutely lovely man. No airs and graces, just properly down to earth and lovely. And the charisma just shone out of him like a beacon. He was a truly lovely human being.

I LOVE Rik Mayall. Was gutted when he passed away.

Also my little girl loves Tap dancing and I took her to see 42nd Street on west end when LuLu was the lead and we waited back stage for autographs.
Lulu came out and was very kind to my daughter and was happy to have her photo taken with her and chatted to her .
But before that I always thought she didn’t come across as very friendly so it just shows you .

ivfbabymomma1 · 21/10/2019 22:02

Ellen?

areyoubeingserviced · 21/10/2019 22:03

Can’t believe anyone said Ellen D. There’s something really disingenuous about her. She’s dead behind the eyes

areyoubeingserviced · 21/10/2019 22:05

Forgot Jordan and Ashley Banjo.
Lovely guys and a credit to their parents

avamiah · 21/10/2019 22:06

Yeah Ellen is so annoying , I have to switch off as she comes across as so fake .

FizzFizzPlinkPlink · 21/10/2019 22:08

I know no one has a good word to say about Jezza Clarkson but my friend sat next to him at an awards dinner a few years ago and she said he was absolutely lovely. She was newly pregnant and was struggling with morning sickness but all of the time. She came over very faint and nauseous at the table and he was really kind apparently. She had to leave early in the end and he went and flagged down a taxi for her and paid for it.

Don't care how good an egg Monty Don is, I still can't bear him. He's ruined Gardeners' World for me. Geoff Hamilton, now there was a lovely person.

exaltedwombat · 21/10/2019 22:21

Interesting how often Dolly Parton comes up. The same is often said about her chosen musical style. Not everyone is a country music fan, but few people actually DISLIKE it. Likewise Abba's music. People may groan, but it gets them up to dance every time

Rownenen1 · 21/10/2019 22:30

Steph McGovern, Martin clunes, allister Stuart. :)

CharityConundrum · 21/10/2019 22:31

All this talk of The Rock reminds me of my favourite ever tweet:

And I'd like to nominate Valentine Warner - never heard anything of him in private, but he comes across as so bonkers and enthusiastic on TV and he once ate so many plums he had to have a lie down! I hope he's not an arse.

ElleMac44 · 21/10/2019 22:37

Sir David Attenborough

avamiah · 21/10/2019 22:40

My mum loves Bradley Walsh ( Chase ) , he is very neutral ( I mean he’s likeable) .

Petlover9 · 21/10/2019 22:45

@SaskiaRembrandt - I agree with you plus Adele and the Beckham's

PrincessAnnaOfArundale · 21/10/2019 22:46

Another vote for Jennifer Aniston always seems genuinely down to earth and lovely.

PrincessAnnaOfArundale · 21/10/2019 22:47

Oh and Hugh Jackman always seems like a total gem.

Arthur2shedsJackson · 21/10/2019 22:53

Used to love Joanna Lumley in Ab Fab, then when she became Queen of the Gurkhas and pushed for the Garden Bridge I went really off her.
David Mitchell is delightful.
Fiona Bruce is self-serving and totally egocentric.
Judi Dench is a joyful celebration of womankind.
Bill Oddie is weird and unlikeable.
Alison Hammond makes my skin crawl.

Clawdy · 21/10/2019 22:55

Why has this turned into a "celebs we hate" thread? There have already been dozens of those.

isittooearlyforgin · 21/10/2019 22:56

@Isitnearlyweekend I heard Louis Theroux on dessert island discs and he sounded genuinely haunted by jimmy saville and how he hadn’t spotted it.
Contrary to popular opinion, I love Sandi Totsvig, think she comes across better on radio - Hilarious on The News Quiz.
Think there’s never going to someone who won’t offend anyone because if they’re that bland, that’s going to annoy someone and if they’ve got personality then that’s not going to someone’s cup of tea.
While I love Victoria woods comedy, in documentaries and on Dessert Island Discs (where I get all my celebrity know how!) she seemed quite miserable

Lonelykettleshed · 21/10/2019 23:00

Haven't read the whole thread but I'd vote for Susan Calman, Miranda Hart and Richard Armitage.

Can't go for anyone in sport as that always means rivalries and irrational dislike.

Also, sorry, but not Tom Hanks - surely nobody can be that nice.

GabsAlot · 21/10/2019 23:05

Oh i love RM rip and luke perry who i met once lovely man

PeriComoToes · 21/10/2019 23:11
