On a school night that is. Ds is almost 9, year 4, and I'm wondering about average bedtimes.

About 8 except on Tuesdays when she has Cubs and gets home at 8.30
Needs to get up at 7.30.

TokyoSushi · 02/10/2019 18:16

I'd like 8:30 but in reality it's in room for 8:30, lights out at 9, he's always up for 7am no problem

FourEyesGood · 02/10/2019 18:17

Around 7.30 or 8pm in general. She gets up between 6am and 6.30.

7.30 reading until 8. By Friday she's exhausted.

NotMaryP0ppins · 02/10/2019 18:18

Usually around 8:30, asleep by 9, wakes naturally about 7

GaraMedouar · 02/10/2019 18:21

Really late! She just doesn’t need that much sleep. Goes up 8.30pm in the week. Then she reads in room faffs about until prob 9.30pm lights out. Up at around 7am. Will be later at weekend too. I need more sleep than DD !

DaanSaaf · 02/10/2019 18:22

Brilliant. He goes at 8.30 but is giving me the allll my friends go at 9 speech. Good to know I'm not a monster.

8 year old DS - upstairs between 7/7.30 and asleep by 8
One night a week he has cubs so upstairs when we get back at 8.45 and asleep by 9

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 02/10/2019 18:28

About 8

ScatteredMama82 · 02/10/2019 18:31

My DS is Yr 5 (nearly 10) and goes up about 8.50, aiming for lights out at 9.30. He's a bad sleeper though, and we tried earlier bedtimes which actually made it worse as he'd lie there fretting about not being able to sleep. A bit later means he's more tired and settles down more quickly.

notso · 02/10/2019 18:32

Anytime between 7:45 and 9 depending on activities etc.
He wakes 6/6:30 regardless though so I prefer earlier bedtimes. He gets naggy after a few 9 o'clock bedtimes in a row.

lovemenorca · 02/10/2019 18:32

Mine doing his teeth as i write this. In bed 6.50ish, lights out by 7.15
He’s asleep in nano seconds

Goes to a very very full on sporty prep school. Tomorrow he will be in the school pool at 7.15am and I will collect him after cross country running at 5.15

lovemenorca · 02/10/2019 18:34

At the weekends.... same time and be emerges at 8am the following day!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 02/10/2019 18:39

9 in a couple of weeks, goes up for a story around 7.30-8, lights out around 8-8-30. Except on Tuesdays, because Bake Off.

DaanSaaf · 02/10/2019 18:40

I love 'because Bake off' Grin

Lights out 8.30 but still wakes at 6.30am

Older one was lights out 8pm at that age.

HuloBeraal · 02/10/2019 18:52

Almost 8 year old. In bed by 7:45. Reads till 8:30 and lights out. I suspect he only falls asleep closer to 9. I have to wake him up at 7. On weekends he sleeps in till 8/8:30.

Stravapalava · 02/10/2019 18:53

8 and a half year old (year 4) goes about 8.30 / 9pm. I know she reads after she's gone upstairs, so don't know what time she actually goes to sleep! I'd like it to be earlier, but she messes around and doesn't go to sleep otherwise.

ThomasRichard · 02/10/2019 18:55

He’s in bed, had a story and lights off for 8.30 but he sings to himself / gets up for another wee / looks at football cards under the duvet by the light of his alarm clock / wriggles around until 9-ish. Apparently everyone else stays up playing Fortnite til 10 or somesuch. Tough luck he’s got me for his mum then!

ImportantWater · 02/10/2019 18:57

My nine year old is 7.30, stories etc go on til about 8.15, apart, from, as PP says, Tuesdays, also because Bake Off

SlavesToTheKitchen · 02/10/2019 18:58

Aim for bed 730, but is sometimes 8 if they've activities and we're not home til 645. Then we read them a story for 15 mins or so and lights out. They're asleep by 830. One 9 nearly 10 and one 7 nearly 8.

Mumshappy · 02/10/2019 18:59

Dd9 is never asleep before 9.30. Gets up at 7.30 for school. At the weekend will lie in till 9/9.30.

reefedsail · 02/10/2019 19:02

9y2: Bedtime is 8.30pm, usually asleep by 9-9.15pm.

Awake 5.30- 6am.

We've faffed around with all sorts trying to get him to sleep in later. If we kept him up until midnight he'd still be hopping around at 6am. Started his day at 4.30am for 3 fucking years. Just not a sleeper.

jackparlabane · 02/10/2019 19:02

Dd nearly 8 had to turn telly /devices off by 7.30, upstairs brushed teeth by 8,then stories, so can be 9 by the time she's in bed and often won't sleep until 10-11.
Wakes around 7.30 OK except on weekends when it's enthusiastically...

Natsku · 02/10/2019 19:11

8 year old DD goes to bed at 8 except Wednesday and Thursday evenings when she goes to bed at 7 as she has to be up earlier the next morning - she has to get up at 6:30 those days while it's 8:30 other days. She often asks to go to bed earlier though. BUT she doesn't actually fall asleep until around 10 or so, drives me nuts, and then she's a nightmare to wake up in the mornings.
