Does anyone have anything good to say about Tui?

Wanting to book a Florida holiday for 2020 and the Tui package deals are coming up very reasonably priced. They have direct flights to Sanford which is appealing since many of the affordable flights to Orlando Int are indirect.

The trustpilot reviews for Tui are pretty bad though, has anyone used Tui recently and had a positive experience?

We've used them four or five times and never had any problems. But we are fairly undemanding holiday-makers. We did get 700 euros back after a flight delay, which was nice as it was almost half the cost of our holiday!

I worked for them and holidayed with them and had great holidays. However, they aren’t the best for Florida if you want Disney. Their reference number doesn’t link up to Disney early enough to be able to book everything and they aren’t the easiest to deal with for things like that as their contact centre is outsourced to South Africa and are poorly trained.
If you want Disney go to an independent travel agent and they can quote a USA specialist - my first choice would be Gold Medal but they don’t sell direct, only through agents.

Mooncupblues · 22/09/2019 22:51

Used them once and all fine. Only thing was it wasn’t an actual Tui plane we got it was some unknown lot I’d never heard of and the plane was a bit rough around the edges but no other complaints.

Moana123 · 22/09/2019 23:08

I’ve used Tui a few times and have never had a bad holiday with them. But I agree with a PP they’re not the best for Disney (if that’s where you’re heading in Florida). Take a look at MyMagicHolidays, really good independent Disney specialist.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 22/09/2019 23:16

Moana My Magic Holidays are part of the Freedom Travel Group owned by Thomas Cook, changes are they will be either gone or looking for new consortia partners tomorrow

HeddaGarbled · 22/09/2019 23:20

They are a decent package holiday company. The advantage of a package holiday is everything is organised for you, the disadvantage is the ‘Brits abroad’ quality and vibe.

The flight will be budget airline standard. This is fine for short flights but can be more of an endurance experience long haul, particularly on the return overnighter.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 22/09/2019 23:25

Tui use the Dreamliner for Florida it’s fab, certainly not budget ‘Brits abroad’ territory

Moana123 · 23/09/2019 07:05

EnglishGirlApproximately thank you I didn’t know they we’re part of that group, definitely don’t book with them then.

nononever · 23/09/2019 07:15

In the past we have booked two spur of the moment last minute long haul holidays with them purely because of the direct flights on the Dreamliner and they were great, flights were excellent as were the cabin crew. We did choose a la carte hotels though. On one of the flights I twisted my knee and could barely walk and when we were getting off the crew noticed, told me to wait and they arranged assistance to get us to the hotel. We were out of the airport and in the taxi within 30 minutes. Thankfully the knee ended up being okay.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 23/09/2019 08:06

Moana is imagine they will join another consortia in the next few days, fingers crossed as they’re a fab company

lovelyupnorth · 23/09/2019 08:15

Wouldn’t personally book with TUI but then I wouldn’t book with any tour operator. And having worked in the industry found most chain travel agents to be hopeless.

Find a good independent travel agent and book via them.

ColinKnocksTwoPence · 23/09/2019 09:48

We went to Croatia last year with Tui.
The hotel was great and the rep was very friendly and helpful.
Only one experience I know, but certainly couldn't fault them.

Maskin · 23/09/2019 09:52

Interesting timing for a thread about how great TUI is Hmm

Interesting timing for a thread about how great TUI is

Maybe people are looking for alternative agents to book with given the news today Hmm

DementorsKiss · 23/09/2019 10:05

yes, went to Cape Verde last year & couldn't fault the service from the entire resort & Tui rep. The flight was also good for that range of holiday

FloridaNewbie · 23/09/2019 13:35

What is it specifically that you're concerned about? The Trustpilot reviews for Tui are appalling. I'm aware that generally people will be compelled to leave bad reviews over positive ones but it still seems like they have a very bad reputation.

I'm absolutely not starting this thread as some weird reverse to highlight how good Tui are, I just don't want to book with them and think ffs I should've listened to the bad reviews.

Things like; huge delays, Tui not letting people know about changes to flight times, transfers leaving without them etc.

We went to Florida with them in April this year. Absolutely fine. Would use them again. We had an 18 hour delay caused by weather on return but they put us up in a (very nice indeed) hotel, fed us and flew us home the next day. Obviously could have done without the delay but they did what they could to make it as painless as possible.

WorraLiberty · 23/09/2019 17:46

I just came back from a TUI holiday the day before yesterday.

No problems at all and a few people I met who had some sort of problem a few months before their holiday, couldn't speak highly enough of them and how they dealt with their problems.

heidihigh · 23/09/2019 17:49

I've been abroad with TUI twice this year. Both times the flights were on time, crew were friendly and hotels were as described. Granted I've never had a problem, but based on my experiences I would recommend them.

TravellingSpoon · 23/09/2019 17:54

We always use them and are going away with them in 5 weeks time. Never had a problem and have had holidays with packages and alfresco. I like that there is a range to suit every budget.

TheCanterburyWhales · 23/09/2019 17:55

Wouldn't book a package with anyone else. Been to Menorca and Portugal recently and will be booking with them for next year.
Fantastic customer service and lovely hotels (like others I'd only book Platinum or A La Carte though)
The rep in Portugal was wonderful, there was a problem with dd's Id card and we were the last to board and she stayed with us until the problem was sorted out.

Ginfordinner · 23/09/2019 17:56

I really rate Jet2 holidays as well.

PenguinsRabbits · 23/09/2019 18:02

We've used them (as First Choice and Thomson) a lot and never had issues, excellent value for money, everything on time.

cathyno5 · 23/09/2019 18:34

Just back from a holiday in Spain. Perfect from beginning to end.
