I am in so much pain tonight. Just no idea what is wrong with me.

My entire body aches from head to toe. I have terrible pain in my sides like I've pulled all my muscles from vomiting so much but I haven't been sick at all. My joints hurt, knees and fingers in particular. I was reasonably ok yesterday.
This happens on a regular basis. Sometimes its accompanied by an upset stomach. Sometimes it's just so much pain. I am so uncomfortable my bed is hurting me. My clothes are hurting me.
Even on a good day with very low pain I have to wear stretchy clothes now and nothing too tight or they hurt me. My skin feels so strange at times that it's like there are insects crawling over it or sometimes like its burning inside. Even my eyes hurt. They itch and burn so much.
And I cant think straight. I forget what I'm saying halfway through a sentence or forget a word I'm looking for. I just dont know what's going on now. I've had blood tests and they are all normal. I dont really know how to deal with this pain that seemingly has no cause.

I don't know much about it but could it be fibromyalgia?

CuriousMama · 12/09/2019 23:13

I was wondering about fibromyalgia? Really feel for you this must be very worrying Flowers

Butterymuffin · 12/09/2019 23:20

Also thought it sounds like fibromyalgia. Get another appointment with your GP and ask about it as well as telling them you need help and can't just plod on in pain. See if you can take someone with you to back you up.

Thank you. I will have a look into fibromyalgia. I thought the doctors might have suggested that but they just seem to be dismissing me as fine all the time as my blood tests are ok. It surely cant be normal though to be in so much pain I cant lie comfortably in my bed. I felt like I'd fallen down a flight of stairs or something and was all bruised up from it and yet I've done nothing like that at all.

I have fibromyalgia and all of your symptoms are familiar to me. I got diagnosed by a rheumatologist, could you ask to be referred to one?

Seeline · 13/09/2019 08:53

Did they test for Vitamin D?

HarryPotterFan436 · 13/09/2019 08:58

I saw a rheumatologist last week but she was very dismissive and told me it is down to pregnancy softening my ligaments. Unfortunately she wasnt very interested when I explained that the pains have been there for probably 7-8 years but worsening gradually over that time and my son is 3.5 so this was before pregnancy that the pains started. My older daughter is almost 13 and I was fine for a number of years after she was born. Also the implication is that it will just get better but my most recent pregnancy ended a year ago and I am still in so much pain at times that I can barely move. This can happen several times a month as well so it's not terribly rare. I hope that all makes sense.

Have you had your Vitamin D and your calcium levels checked, and if yes what were the figures?

HarryPotterFan436 · 13/09/2019 09:00

They haven't tested for vitamin D but I got myself tested in March and the results were 56.9 nmol/L. I put myself on a vitamin D supplement after that but cant say as I've noticed any improvement. I do have an underactive thyroid. I requested the doctor up my medication 3 months ago but again no noticeable improvement from that.

HarryPotterFan436 · 13/09/2019 09:01

I dont think my calcium has ever been checked.

OP posts:
MrsMozartMkII · 13/09/2019 09:02

We cross posted.

What quantity did you put yourself on and what additional supplements did you add?

MrsMozartMkII · 13/09/2019 09:02

Calcium needs to be checked.

InglouriousBasterd · 13/09/2019 09:04

I have fibro and those were my symptoms to a T

HarryPotterFan436 · 13/09/2019 09:11

1000mg vitamin C, 2000iU vitamin D and 20ml floradix a day. Plus I've just started a vitamin b complex about 3 weeks ago.

Those of you that say these are your symptoms did you have any others before you were diagnosed? I am exhausted but to be honest I presumed that is down to the children as the youngest in particular doesnt sleep well.

MrsMozartMkII · 13/09/2019 09:19

Go into the Vitamin D group on FB. Very knowledgable and helpful.

You need to get your calcium level checked. Not saying there is an issue with it but you sound similar to one of my symptoms when mine was going wonky.

HarryPotterFan436 · 13/09/2019 09:27

Ok well that's something I can ask the doctor about. It's possible they will agree to do it.

I was beyond exhausted, my eyes would close walking down the road. Initial bloods showed low vitD but even the push therapy didn’t improve the symptoms. The symptoms are truly horrible but they can be managed once you know what you’re dealing with Flowers

HarryPotterFan436 · 13/09/2019 11:34

Oh InglouriousBasterd that is exactly what my eyes do. So often I just dont know how I'm going to get home because I cant keep my eyes open. I really hope I can get the doctors to listen to me.

From what I hear, fibromyalgia is horrific. You might have to be a bit pushy trying to get it investigated. Doctor's seem to be reluctant to get things properly dealt with, probably due to time and cost.

InglouriousBasterd · 13/09/2019 12:10

I think you need to spell it out to them, all the symptoms, don’t hold back. They took me seriously thank god.

HarryPotterFan436 · 13/09/2019 14:37

Thank you so much for all of the responses. I am supposed to see the rheumatologist again but it's in 6 months time so Feb/march next year I guess. Perhaps I will have to go and see my doctor again in the meantime.

OP posts:
Singlenotsingle · 13/09/2019 16:42

In the meantime? Make an appointment for Monday!

HarryPotterFan436 · 13/09/2019 17:19

Unless I go and sit in urgent care it takes 3 weeks to get in to the doctors here but if I'm still in this much pain I'll have to do that Monday morning. I hate making a fuss though.

I read your post and immediately thought fibromyalgia too. I suffered with constant exhaustion and aches and pains for years. I have weird things like a intolerance to cold, noise and bright lights too.

A friend with fibromyalgia said it sounded like I had it and I googled it and could cross off nearly every symptom and trigger point. I believe mine was caused by 4 pregnancies in 6 years and SPD/sciatica.

I went to the GP she referred me to a rheumatologist who confirmed the diagnosis, it was good to give it a name but it’s shitty to have to live with it.
