I want a gorgeously scented candle basically! I’ve never lived in a house that I can use a candle in until now and I want to celebrate with a candle!

A friend uses Esteban candles which are stunning but seems to be super hard to get more then a basic range of scents.

I don’t like Yankee candles

I like fresh clean scents, not to sweet.

Thank you Grin

ESPA candles are amazing. Seriously like walking straight into a spa.

Definitely Diptyque. I love their Tuberous (? Spelling) one.

Parks candles are amazing.

AmateurSwami · 15/08/2019 10:20

The Aldi jobMalone rip offs are gorgeous and not too sweet

TK Maxx sell candles super cheap - you need to give them a good sniff as some are fresher than others.

Aldi's candles in their numbered scents are actually really great - I think they're as good as Jo Malone.

If you're really pushing the boat out, Diptique are AMAZING. But unjustifiably expensive.

Poochnewbie · 15/08/2019 10:21

Jo Malone do great candles. Pomegranate Noir is my favourite.

Propertyofhood · 15/08/2019 10:21

Diptyque - they really are the best scented candles by an absolute mile. I have tried loads from a range of prices, and Diptyque pisses all over all of them! £42 a pop though, ouch!

I LOVE Baies, but you might find it a bit sweet.

Belgravian · 15/08/2019 10:22

If you’re on a budget then Tk Maxx and Homesense sell Parks Candles which are inexpensive but have some nice fragrances.

TheVanguardSix · 15/08/2019 10:23

Zara white jasmine.

It is glorious!

NaturalBornWoman · 15/08/2019 10:32

I really like St Eval candle company, who have a lot of fresh and herbal fragrances. My last Diptyque one smoked horribly despite taking care of the wick. Le Labo candles are gorgeous.

FraggleRocking · 15/08/2019 10:35

Capri candle from Anthropologie. Not the cheapest but it is absolutely worth it. Lasts ages and smells amazing.

BertrandRussell · 15/08/2019 10:37

Cire Trudon Spiritus Sancti

I won’t link because I am ashamed of the price-but it is so lovely. Sharp and subtle.

ChelseaCat · 15/08/2019 10:39

Juliette at Home do some great ones - Gooseberry jam is delish!

Frazzlerock · 15/08/2019 10:40

I love my candle that was a gift. Its Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede.
Its so gorgeous and the smell drifts through the whole house. Not sweet, just really fresh.

Pinkarsedfly · 15/08/2019 10:42

Neom or Diptyque are my favourites.

Jo Malone Lime, Basil and Mandarin is lovely and fresh.

TK Maxx often have This Works candles in, and I once got a lovely mandarin scented one which I now always look out for if I’m in there.

I buy soy wax candles from this company and they are lush:

Heyland and Whittle Whiff Away is a lovely clean smell.

I also love St Eval Tranquility.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 15/08/2019 10:48

I second the suggestion to go to TKMaxx and get a This Works candle. I love them and they last ages.

Luckingfovely · 15/08/2019 10:49

Aldi dupes are good.

Diptique and Jo Malone are brilliant if in budget, but I don't think you need to spend that much.

As it is your first time buying, I would go to TKMaxx/Home Sense and sniff!

You can't know from anyone else's tastes online what you like - sniff away and choose the ones that you like best!

St Eval are a great buy there if you spot them.

Vasya · 15/08/2019 10:50

How much are you willing to pay? I have a lot of recommendations but it all depends on budget!

Luckingfovely · 15/08/2019 10:54

Oh and one to avoid - someone gave me a WoodWick candle which is supposed to crackle like a real fire.

It sounded like a swarm of giant prehistoric killer wasps had invaded my office!! Grin

Lovemenorca · 15/08/2019 10:55

Please ignore Aldi / supermarket suggestions

Nice enough but not a treat. And I’ve tried them all.

Neom
Jo malone
Dipytique

Aldi!
