Do you have a favourite drinking mug and why?

I have a few favourites.

I have only one, that fits in the cup holder in the car, that's my favourite one for the morning.

I have another favourite one because it was bought by my children.

And I have one more, favourite one, because it always cheers me up when I use it.

I have one with Alice in Wonderland illustrations (Tenniell, not Disney) that DM bought me from an exhibition about ‘Illustrators of Alice’ a few years ago. That is the mug I have my first tea of the day in.
I have a yellow plastic pint mug, which my brother gave me when I went travelling when I was 22. 26 years later, it has been on every subsequent camping trip ;many).

stucknoue · 22/07/2019 12:34

Yes I did and dd broke itSad

PineappleSeahorse · 22/07/2019 12:38

I have four. I have a dedicated tea mug which is my favourite. A dedicated coffee mug. One I use for fresh juice, squash, soda etc and another for milk, I love ice cold milk. I'm looking for a nicer juice and coffee mug though.

I have four, but one is only for the evenings. I have no idea why??

EskewedBeef · 22/07/2019 12:41

They're all china, my favourites. Earthenware just isn't the same, although most of our mugs are made of it. My favourite coffee cup can't go in the dishwasher, so I only use it occasionally.

Purpletigers · 22/07/2019 12:42

I like Emma Bridgewater mugs , I have too many . My husband hates them, his favourite is a pink one with a puppies on it and a slight chip on the brim .

Iwantacookie · 22/07/2019 12:45

I have my Aladdin mug for tea only.
My little mum mug for dunking biscuits in tea.
My bear mum mug is for coffee.
My big mum mug for luxury hot chocolate.
My dc brought me all of them so they have there uses individually.

Hairyheadphones · 22/07/2019 12:46

I love Cath Kidston Stanley mugs but only the ones which have multiple animals on.

Yes, I use this Emma bridgewater rose and bee half pint one, and only this one. Ever, I originally had four, but they had been broken, now I only have one, and if anyone dares use it I get pissed off. I've even been known to make my husband pour his coffee into another one. He doesn't use it now. I've also no idea why I'm so particular about it.

I have six. All the same shape but in two different colours, just a couple of quid each from Tesco. The reason I bought six of them is that gives my OH five to break before I start threatening him with all sorts of horrid punishments for breaking my mug. He has form....

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 22/07/2019 13:28

I have a Bagpuss mug that was the first present DH ever bought me, and three tatty old green thermos camping mugs that are almost as old as I am. They were part of a set of four "settings" that we used on holidays when I was young, and still going strong.

RezCowgirl · 22/07/2019 13:35

Not bothered what the coffee goes into but for tea, especially green tea it must be a glass mug because earthenware doesn't get clean enough and taints the flavour of tea.

Cocolapew · 22/07/2019 13:42

I have 2. A small Cath Kidston one for tea and biscuits, I'll only eat biscuits while drinking tea so I don't eat too many with a small cup 🐷.
The other is a larger Prince Purple Rain mug 💜

namechangeninjaevervigilant · 22/07/2019 13:43

For me a mug must be china and it must have curved sides. DH occasionally makes me a drink in a mug with straight sides and it’s just not the same. I had a beautiful set of four in pastel colours that cost about £2.50 each in Tesco about 12 years ago. Only the blue one has survived. I also have one that came free from an accounting firm when DS was looking for a grad position. He eventually joined a rival firm and left home so I got to keep the mug.

Sagradafamiliar · 22/07/2019 14:55

My favourite ones came in a pair, one has a kitchen design and the other a living room. They are so detailed and how I wish my home looks. I just love them and have looked on ebay for replacements as they will inevitably chip but can't find any 😭

DearLady · 22/07/2019 14:59

I like my China, especially a big tea-cup shaped one. More tea!

DH fave is a chunky American diner coffee mug. For tea, of course!

Batsypatsy · 22/07/2019 15:02

My favourite mug is a Jamie Oliver Hippy Chick mug. For coffee from the Nespresso machine I have a large Whittards cup.

I think we need more photos on this thread! Always looking for a good mug ...

Batsypatsy · 22/07/2019 15:04

Forgot my own photo Grin

I did have a mug, that was only for cold milk and only when eating dominos pizza, it was a barrelled shaped mug with Eeyore on it.

Not got a replacement yet.

choppolata · 22/07/2019 16:54

That sounds like my Eeyore mug (a big blue one). Mine is reserved for hangovers.

howwudufeel · 22/07/2019 16:56

I have a favourite Emma Bridgewater mug. I like the design and love supporting pottery making in Stoke-on-Trent.

Happynow001 · 22/07/2019 17:00

I love Eeyore - he's so like me...

I have two very large cups which hold half a litre of hot skimmed milk for when I have my extra strong hot chocolate with cinnamon and nutmeg. One has patterns like Portuguese tiles and the other is bright rainbows.

Small cups are pointless... 😁

YesThisIsMe · 22/07/2019 17:05

I recently chipped a hand painted stoneware mug I was given as a wedding present. Two days later, after some frantic googling, the postman has just delivered a replacement from the wilds of the Highlands of Scotland. It cost forty pounds including delivery, but given that I’ve been using the previous one three times a day for twenty two years I feel that a cost per use of 0.2 pence is fair enough.

wendz86 · 22/07/2019 17:05

My mum bought me one at our trip to Disneyland in May and I love it . Also love the ones with pics of my kids on .

ForalltheSaints · 22/07/2019 17:07

One my dad bought me many years ago- he passed away in 2012.
