Treacle definitely 😊

ReganSomerset · 11/07/2019 07:39

Treacle. Love it.

LottaHogs · 11/07/2019 07:41

Leo or Rufus get my vote, but I like them all.

KeeperofthePeace · 11/07/2019 07:41

Rufus. Only Rufus.

InPaws · 11/07/2019 07:43

Thank you. Ds came up with Treacle.

Can you reassure me that there aren't any inappropriate connotations with Treacle that I may not be aware of?

Rufus

LittleFairywren · 11/07/2019 07:46

Rory. Leo is a cats name.

Singlenotsingle · 11/07/2019 07:46

Rufus is best.
Leo
Arthur
Rory
Derek
Not keen on Treacle

StillMedusa · 11/07/2019 07:54

Rufus or Treacle :)
We are in the same position.. picking up our puppy on Sunday.
I swear we have spent more time on trying to choose a name for her than we did for our kids Grin

(She's going to be Orla as we have two other pets starting with O )

Flywheel · 11/07/2019 07:57

Arthur gets my vote

InPaws · 11/07/2019 08:07

So Rufus gets the most votes so far, followed by Treacle?

Is Treacle ok for a dog rather than a 'bitch'?

The best dog's names for training natural give your voice and upward inflection on the end of the name so Rory would be the best of the bunch from that lot.
As a vet Teacle is a very common cats name, I see lots of Rory's, Leo's and Rufuses. Arthur is again more commonly a cat name.

Short is good not too many syllables as you are going to be calling it.
I am not a fan of human names too many other dogs with these names I tend to name my dogs unusually names with a connection to me. My current dog is named after a Shetland island - I have family in Shetland and this particular island has a special meaning to us.

Rufus

definitely not treacle.

tabulahrasa · 11/07/2019 08:20

Try shouting them...

Most of those if I shouted them would kind of tail off indistinctly, which isn’t so good for a dog’s name.

That might just be the way I say them, but it’s worth trying them out.

SamBeckett · 11/07/2019 08:22

Rufus ( the horse next to mine was called this ) or treacle. I can not see any problems with this name

ReganSomerset · 11/07/2019 08:22

I think Treacle is unisex, yes.

InPaws · 11/07/2019 08:31

Lonecatwithkitten I like your approach and will try to think of something that has a personal meaning to us.

Interesting about Rory and training, that could also work.

"Rory's, Leo's and Rufuses."
Are they common dog or cat names in your experience?

OP posts:
InPaws · 11/07/2019 08:32

001 Why would you say "definitely not treacle"?

OP posts:
Lonecatwithkitten · 11/07/2019 08:33

Rory and Leo are cats and dogs and Rufus dogs and is really quite popular currently. Not quite as popular as Ralph which is definitely the pets name of the moment around me.

NoSauce · 11/07/2019 08:33

Not Treacle. Reminds me Pete Beale off Eastenders “ awight Tweacle “

I like all of the others.

stucknoue · 11/07/2019 08:34

I like proper names, rufus is my favourite there

Soola · 11/07/2019 08:40

Not keen on them.

Roger
Bentley
Dali
Felipe

Scotstar · 11/07/2019 08:45

@lonecatwithkitten vaila?

FleurNancy · 11/07/2019 08:48

Rory! Only because that one of my DS's names and the other two have very common dog names but I've only met one dog called Rory!!

Shannith · 11/07/2019 08:49

Winstone Churchill had two poodles named Rufus and Rufus II.
