I like them all but I love treacle.

MikeUniformMike · 11/07/2019 11:10

Arthur - cat name but ok
Treacle - cat name. Bit sickly
Leo - only if he has a mane
Rory - Yappy not Roary
Rufus - not sure. It's the best on your list though

InPaws · 11/07/2019 13:17

Mixed opinions -this is not helping arrrrg-

I'd like a cute, soft but not soppy name. Something that doesn't take itself too seriously which is over thinking it and taking it too seriously.

We have a dog called Arthur! We affectionately call him Arf, that gets my vote Smile

Honeyroar · 11/07/2019 13:23

Lol I’ve got a Rory dog. Interesting theory on training- didn’t work on him, although he thinks his real name is Rory No!

notso · 11/07/2019 13:30

Treacle. I don't like human names for pets.

LindaLa · 11/07/2019 13:32

Alliteration is fun where pets names happen.

What will puppy's surname begin with?

InPaws · 11/07/2019 14:24

Surname begins with M LindaLa.

New poll

Rufus
Treacle
Louis
Alfie

I will attach a photo as soon.

Hate treacle. Horrible demeaning name IMO. Like the others.

hennipenni · 11/07/2019 14:45

Rufus, I have a Rufus. Easy to shout either long and drawn out as Ruuuuuffuuuuus, when he’s lolloping about or a shirt sharp Rufuswhen he’s being a prat. Can (and do!) shorten it to Ru, Roof, doof or doofus depending on my mood and gitbag when he’s being a, well git!

Molasses
Murphy
Monroe
Mack
Monster
Montgomery (monty)

I know not on your list but you had no M!

NoSauce · 11/07/2019 15:47

Rupert?

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 11/07/2019 15:49

Every other male dog near me is called Archie or Alfie, apart from the German Shepherds who are all called Diesel. Female dogs all seem to be Ruby or Tilly, apart from the husky breeds who are all called Russian-ish names like Nikita and Natasha.

I met a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Louis today and it is a very "poodle" name, but I think it suits a cat better.

I like Rufus and Treacle, and I also liked Rory from your other list. That said, my dogs have pretty stupid names because teenage DD got the final say.

NeverSayFreelance · 11/07/2019 15:49

Aw someone I know had a dog called Treacle! Was a lovely dog.

ThreadKillerSleepsInACoil · 11/07/2019 15:52

Aw, I liked Arthur! But Alfie is also good. Obviously a pic will decide it Wink

DramaAlpaca · 11/07/2019 15:53

I'd pick Rufus.

Bubblysqueak · 11/07/2019 16:10

I suggest you go our in the garden or park and call out the list of your names. If there is a name that you feel silly yelling or booking a vet appointment for or if it sounds odd shouting it loudly it's not a good name.

Personally I would be embarrassed calling treacle but that's just me.

I like Arthur , leo and Rufus.

Bubblysqueak · 11/07/2019 16:11

Really like Alfie.

MikeUniformMike · 11/07/2019 16:27

Louis was my first thought.
If you call him Archie or Alfie you might get 5 or 6 dogs running towards you when you call his name in the park. Rufus is quite popular too.

MattMagnolia · 11/07/2019 18:34

Rufus The Red. We used it for a gorgeous ginger cat.
Poodles are clever so call him Einstein.
