Has Tom Hanks ever made a bad film?

This is an ongoing discussion that DH and I have. We genuinely dint think he has! Watching him on Graham Norton just now, and I heard his interviews with Chris Evans
this week, and he seems like such a nice guy. (Please don’t tell me he bites the heads off jellybabies or anything).

Not that I know of. I like him a lot, very versatile

SunsetBunny · 21/06/2019 22:53

Often thought the same, but didn’t like Road to Perdition

CarolynMartens · 21/06/2019 22:54

I think The Circle with Emma Watson didn’t get good reviews.

Bastable · 21/06/2019 22:55

The new Toy Story isn’t wonderful...

leghairdontcare · 21/06/2019 22:55

You've got Mail is a crime, but otherwise he's made some very good films.

Processedpea · 21/06/2019 22:56

Bachelor party ? Grin

StillWould · 21/06/2019 22:57

These spring to mind...

The Circle
Sully
Joe versus the volcano
Bonfire of the vanities
You've got mail

But he makes far more hits than misses if those are his duds!

BikeRunSki · 21/06/2019 22:57

See, I quite liked The Road To Perdition
Havn’t seen The Circle (but then, I don’t really rate Emma Watson).
Looking forward to TS4

I loved Sully!

I’ll give you Joe v the Volcano though.

'Catch me if you can' was dire!

Comedyusername · 21/06/2019 22:59

And Terminal

Babysharkdododont · 21/06/2019 22:59

That bastard torterous turn he did on the island with a ball for company, longest 90 minutes of my life. So bad I've blocked out the name of it mentally

IhaveALooBrush · 21/06/2019 23:00

Forrest Gump.

My favourite is Splash.

LittleAndOften · 21/06/2019 23:00

Yes, all the Dan Brown awfulness. The Da Vinci Code is a horrendous waste of celluloid and the sequel is just as absurd, poorly conceived, poorly scripted and badly acted by everyone. Tom Banks should have known better!

LoafofSellotape · 21/06/2019 23:01

I enjoyed the Circle.

I seem to remember he made My Big Fat Greek Wedding and sequal- utter offensive drivel.

I love Castaway.

LittleAndOften · 21/06/2019 23:01

Haha autocorrect *Hanks obvs Grin

Soola · 21/06/2019 23:01

Can’t stand him. Used to like his early films but now his ego is so massive he has become a joke.

ElizaPancakes · 21/06/2019 23:04

I am so in love with Jake Gyllenhal I just don’t care about Tom Hanks even though I like him a lot.

Cruddles · 21/06/2019 23:04

You realise he did a lot of average comedy films before he made it as a serious actor? Bachelor Party, Dragnet etc

StillWould · 21/06/2019 23:06

@BikeRunSki I felt most confident in naming Joe vs volcano, definitely his worst!

TheGirlWhoLived · 21/06/2019 23:07

I assume you all haven’t seen the delight that is “the man with one red shoe”? I suggest you don’t Grin

velocitygirl7 · 21/06/2019 23:07

Big. Seriously creepy. Basically it clearly shows an adult woman being intimate with a boy, it's an awful film!!!

Ginxed · 21/06/2019 23:07

The Da Vinci Code and Forest Gump - really disliked them both.

BikeRunSki · 21/06/2019 23:08

I’m obviously blinkered, because Catch Me If You Can is one of my favourite films, but not for Tom Hanks’ role. I also loved the Dragnet films.

The Ladykillers. Awful. Only time i’ve walked out of the cinema!
