Enjoy your new bag OP, I love the zip pull. I would like the first option in the monogram canvas I think. Love yours too but it's too similar to my Gucci Marmont and my Saint Laurent.

To all those looking at Chanel WOCs, I have one and while it's lovely, it's one of my least used because it needs babying. Might be different in the Caviar leather but certainly the lambskin does not take a bashing unlike eg Gucci where the leather tends to be much tougher.

I think my next bag will be a Balenciaga City or a Dior clutch.

Love your choice. Enjoy it.

Disappointing lack of "what an obscene amount to spend on bag - couldn't you use a Tesco carrier bag and give the money to charity" sneers on this thread.

Well I wouldn't want to sneer and don't care how much people choose to spend on a bag but I do find it interesting. As someone who loves bags but has never spend more than 70 quid on one I'm really interested to know why someone would spend so much on a bag that to me doesn't look much more than a similar one at a fraction of the price. Not judging but curious.

It’s similar to why you’d buy Heinz beans over supermarket own brand

Or why you’d buy a Lamborghini over a Skoda

Quality, performance and mostly aesthetics

Literally couldn't care less about how much people spend or what they chose to spend it on...It's their money. That bag is my entire months wages though Grin

Delved into a bit of a designer rabbit hole after looking at the bags PP suggested, and started googling stuff I see celebs wearing just to see how much it costs etc, very interesting.

I initially preferred the first bag but now you've got the second and shown real life pictures I think you made a good choice. Website pics never do anything any justice.

amusedbush · 03/05/2019 09:30

Oooh it's beautiful, good choice!

I've realised I'll be travelling through Heathrow on my birthday next week and there is a duty free Gucci store. Also, DH won't be with me to pull faces at the prices Grin

SansasSnatch · 03/05/2019 09:49

Yes Heathrow has loads! Happy spending Grin

There is a huge difference in the quality, workmanship and usually also in the design quality. Obviously some of it is the prestige of the brand, it would be stupid to pretend otherwise.

I feel great when I carry a designer bag. I kind of wish I’d never got my first one, though, because I could never go back now (not entirely true, of course I could if I absolutely had to. And I do buy from places like Jigsaw/Jaeger/Whistles/Reiss/Toast as well, particularly for workhorse bags).

However, on the other hand I’ve had my first bag (Anya Hindmarch Belvedere, original style) since 2014 and it still looks brand new. I will likely keep it for the rest of my life. My second was a Mulberry Mitzy East West hobo that I had seen someone carrying and though ohh I like that, looked it up and it was no longer in their current stock. I found it a couple of years later in their shop in York and got it for a much lower price. I still love it, and it also still looks brand new. I’ve got a couple more and aim to get one more per year if I can.

Bags make me happy, and a beautifully crafted bag is a thing of true beauty. I don’t go out much, don’t usually go out to eat or drinking at the weekend, for example, so this is where I spend that money. And I get something beautiful that I can keep forever and that gives me joy.

SansasSnatch

The mini Gucci bag I've had my eye on is £115 cheaper at Heathrow and they have it in stock Grin

Happy birthday to me...

Ninkaninus · 03/05/2019 10:11

Ohhhh another live shopping experience!!

Which one is it you’re going to get?

I’ve got a wishlist as long as my arm right now so I really have no clue what I’m going to get next....

amusedbush · 03/05/2019 10:16

Gucci Marmont Super Mini

I usually carry a big bag (Mulberry Bayswater) so I fancy something nice and compact. I looked at the Gucci camera bag but I like the flapover detail on the super mini and there isn't much between them measurement wise...

Chesneyhawkes1 · 03/05/2019 10:17

First one!

SansasSnatch · 03/05/2019 10:18

Oooh lovely @AmusedBush 🎂

Nice!

Yes I have several big bags and a couple medium sized and I am also looking to move over to smaller bags now. But it’s hard to settle on a specific one.

Ninkaninus · 03/05/2019 10:22

Oh it’ll be a while... I’ve got to save for it and I am terrible at saving!

amusedbush · 03/05/2019 10:27

My colleague saw the one I want in Dubai recently and she said it's not actually teeny tiny in person, and it holds an iPhone 8 Plus, card holder, keys, etc. I'm terrible for buying big bags and filling them with crap anyway Blush

WokenUp · 03/05/2019 10:48

I've been lurking too OP so glad you chose the second, love it. I'm a bag fiend.

Fyi I have the Chanel camera bag in red 😍

(I'm a chaneloholic and I DONT CARE)

Which bag (Louis Vuitton) do you prefer?

Sooo lovely @WokenUp

JaneR0chester · 03/05/2019 12:01

WokenUp that is lovely!

SansasSnatch no, I'm nowhere near Kent, sorry :)

Loving seeing all these bags. I have a handful of designer bags but mostly v old from when I was working, before I became a poor SAHM. My last was an LV bandolier Speedy, several years old but still looks like new and I must get it out to use soon...

JaneR0chester · 03/05/2019 12:03

I had a browse in the Chanel shop in Heathrow last time I went through, but I didn't think they had much choice - or maybe I just hadn't done enough research beforehand? Have fun amusedbush :)

amusedbush · 03/05/2019 12:12

JaneR0chester

I've done my Heathrow research and they have the bag I want in stock! You can phone or email them and they will check, reserve and even get stock into the right terminal for you.

lalafafa · 03/05/2019 12:28

Ive bought my last 2 bags at the airport, huge savings. My sister bought a watch and saved nearly 3K!

Ifonlyiweretaller · 03/05/2019 13:59

That's interesting @lalafafa - 2 years ago we tried to buy a very specific Rolex at 3 different airports (Hong Kong, Dubai and Gatwick) and they could only match the price we'd already been quoted in the UK! Because of that I've presumed Duty Free is no longer the bargain it used to be. But maybe I need to have antoher look on my next jaunt abroad... Grin
