Shit. My wedding dress is like Danielle Lloyd's and its getting slated online

It's too late to change my dress and everyone online is commenting that the style is outdated and tacky. I was sent the link from my sister and its the daily mail (so won't link) but if no ones seen it, it's a sweetheart neckline mermaid tail dress. It's almost identical to mine.

The fact I'm not a fan of hers makes it worse!!

I don't know why I'm posting. Nowt I can do about now but.... Waaaaahhhh

Give me a virtual slap and remind me I love the dress and it's not outdated, it's fun and pretty and there are bigger problems in the world Confused

You'll look lovely op! It's similar to my wedding dress a few years ago and i looked fabulous Grin it certainly is a dress to stand out in though so not everyone will love it.

Surely DM hating something you like is a massive compliment anyway?Wink

Graphista · 24/04/2019 20:51

I like it too.

However IF you wanted to alter it slightly you could reduce the depth of the sweetheart neckline to a more dipped neckline, you could reduce the number of layers in the skirt.

Not saying you should but letting you know you have options.

I used to work in the industry and I was amazed how much the seamstresses could do.

It's also amazing how very different the same dress can look simply with different styling and a different person wearing. Can look like a totally different dress I'm sure you'll look gorgeous on the day

It’s a lovely dress. Don’t let it bother you.

nettie434 · 24/04/2019 20:58

I think some of the criticism stems from the fact that it won’t suit everyone but Danielle Lloyd looks great and you will look even better. I noted the article said that it ‘accentuated her tiny waist and svelte arms’. That is such Daily Fail language! Smile. But, if you ever have any more doubts about it, just say to yourself ‘With my tiny waist and svelte arms, I can carry this off’.

PetrichorRain · 24/04/2019 21:00

ALL that matters is that you love it, OP. Many if not most of your guests probably won’t even know who Danielle Lloyd is, let alone what her wedding dress looks like. I had to google.

feelingverylazytoday · 24/04/2019 21:02

They're just taking the piss out of her in the DM, in their usual passive aggresive sneery way.
The dress is fabulous, love her evening dress as well. I would imagine quite a few of the negative comments are down to jealousy anyway.

Monkey500 · 24/04/2019 21:02

@MotherOfGodFella yes the Ivory, the ruching was very forgiving Grin

Mermaiddress · 24/04/2019 21:03

My dress has more of a peaked sweetheart neckline, which plunges so it almost looks like a v neck (but it's not revealing either). It doesn't have that odd nude coloured panel thing on the bust area. Also the torso part isn't beaded. But the bottom part is exactly the same, except the train isn't as long. Which actually I quite like. Can I get that bit added on, Graphista??

As I clicked on the comments I knew it was a mistake.

It was definitely the toilet roll holder comment that done me. I cracked and posted after I read that.

some people hate her so would slag off nothing she wears
please don't let it spoil it for you

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 24/04/2019 21:05

You chose it because you liked it same and she did.
Did other people come with you and tell you how nice it looked on?

I got married last year had nightmares about MM or Eugine having a completely different style and making mine instantly unfashionable. Normal bridal anixiety.

Valanice1989 · 24/04/2019 21:11

I've just Googled it and think it looks lovely (as much as I dislike Danielle Lloyd!). Daily Mail readers would tear apart pretty much any wedding dress. And anyway, what matters is that you like it.

Graphista · 24/04/2019 21:14

Adding a train is usually doable yes if that's what you were asking.

Fabric might not match totally but they'll do as close a match as possible and most lay people wouldn't notice

MrsEricBana · 24/04/2019 21:16

Well, I'm very much of the less is more school of thought and I like it and I'm guessing the rest of your set up will perhaps be more tasteful too.

shivermetimbers77 · 24/04/2019 21:25

I would consider it a badge of honour to wear something hated by Daily Mail readers! It's a sign of good taste

LittleBearPad · 24/04/2019 21:29

It doesn't have that odd nude coloured panel thing on the bust

Hurrah - that bit is weird.

Fimbrae · 24/04/2019 21:34

It's a beautiful dress. You will make a beautiful bride. Stop stressing!
I hope that it all goes well for you on the day.

NataliaOsipova · 24/04/2019 21:43

Who is she anyway? And before someone tells me to Google, I have done; says “model and TV presenter” but I’m none the wiser really.....

PinkieTuscadero · 24/04/2019 21:47

She's made a living from appearing in reality shows and going out with footballers. Her heyday was about a decade ago. Fair fucks to her managing to get OK magazine to pay for her wedding photos to this non footballer man.

DaisyDreaming · 24/04/2019 21:48

Daily mail commenters are not the best of society! I would take it as a good sign if dailymail commenters hate it 😂

IamPickleRick · 24/04/2019 21:49

Well I like it Blush

NataliaOsipova · 24/04/2019 21:50

Thanks Pinkie. As you say, fair fucks indeed by the sound of it! OP - I’m sure you’ll look lovely and fear not - more people will be like me than you expect, so no comparisons will be made....

feelingverylazytoday · 24/04/2019 21:59

Love the bridesmaids dresses as well and her little boys look so sweet in their suits.

PurpleWithRed · 24/04/2019 22:05

You'll look amazing and feel amazing.

I had to google, still have no idea who she is but she looks glamorous and happy.

But I'm wetting myself over "Teasing her brunette tresses into coiffed waves falling over one-shoulder, she pinned back one side of her locks with an elaborate and luxurious pearl hair slide". The Daily never Fails.

TVname · 24/04/2019 22:12

The dress is fine and you were happy with it. I'm more concerned that your sister thought it was a good idea to send you a link to people bitching about it, what was she hoping to get out of that?
