Realising you have called something the wrong thing for years

Light hearted....recently realised that I’ve been calling ‘Andrew’s Liver Salts’ .... ‘Saint Andrew’s Liver Salts’.

I have obviously no idea where I got the ‘Saint’ part from it just sounded right I expected to see ‘St’ on the product and was surprised it didn’t have it when someone asked me why I was using Saint when I mentioned i find it useful for hangovers

Anyone else ever realise they have been calling things by totally different names ? Just laughed at my stupidly

Dh thought Peter Capaldi was called Peter Calapadi until very recently. He’s a huge Thick of it fan too!

My dad called chimneys chimleys until he was an adult . I thought Addenbrookes Hospital was Adam Brooke's Hospital for many years.

My xh calls Davina Macall Davinia. He’s done it for years

My brother until i corrected him age 14 called human being, human beans. That really tickled me.

I used to think gymnatstics was called gymlastics. To this day I say gymnastics, however in my head it is so very wrong.

I had been calling Covent Garden ‘convent garden’ for years - I’m not local to London but had visited the city including Covent Garden plenty of times somehow without seeing it written down. When I eventually saw it on the map as Covent I initially thought it was a spelling error and was really surprised to find it wasn’t.

My dh calls chutney 'chuckney'. Drives me mad.

For no reason... Until I heard it said out loud I thought Nicki Minaj was Nicki maninja. Must have skim read it like that.... Maninja.

My best friend used to call Matalan, Mataland 🙄 I pulled her up on it, but now she finds it funny.

Oh and also I thought penguins were called panguins until early adulthood too 🤣

Cafe Nero was Cafe Nerd to my up until about a year ago. I still say Cafe Nerd in my head when I see the sign

I always thought you gave someone "a roundabout plause", inserted of a round of applause. I still hear it every time

In fairness, MyNew, it was called Convent Garden at one point, well before the Reformation, because it was owned by Westminster Abbey, which walled off part of it as a kitchen garden and orchard.

I have many of these. My lovely DM struggles to read, can’t write and pronounces words incorrectly... and she taught me to talk, so I also pronounced them incorrectly until I was old enough to realise the mistake. For example Morniment in London (Monument). Also ambalance (ambulance), chimley (chimney), Denebhams, and my favourite - obeast (obese).

There is a restaurant I drive past regularly called Forts of India. For ages I thought it was Farts of India and thought the owners were either very edgy or very stupid.
Turns out all the locals call it Farts so I'm not the only one.
