Just that really, what one unsolved crime/mystery/news story do toy wish would be solved?

For me, its Madeleine McCann. It may well just be because of the age I am, its one of the first ones I remember really clearly as it happened.

What about you?

I really dont know but I would like to use my choice for something modern enough that someone would be brought to justice for it.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 10/04/2019 13:10

Madeline McCann - I still remember the shock I felt at the time. I have thought perhaps she wandered off looking for her parents but now think she was taken.

I heard some one who knew a lot about children's' behaviour remark exactly that. There had been a family argument earlier in the day, Madelaine had woken in the night from a bad dream. Went to find her parents. Fell in a ditch and died.

So.….why wasn't her body found when the police searched the area with cadaver dogs ?

userxx · 10/04/2019 13:13

Claudia Lawrence. I cant get my head around someone just disappearing like that.

In Australia, in the 1960’s .. 3 children went to the beach alone. And were never seen again. Very sad, The Beaumont Children.

Bodies have never been found.

Smellslikemiddleagespirit · 10/04/2019 13:37

The eye witness report of a man resembling Gerry carrying a child resembling Madelaine heading towards the beach that night....is that just rumour ?

I thought that man had been found and discounted. He was with his own daughter, still had the pyjamas she was wearing. Nothing sinister at all.

userxx · 10/04/2019 13:45

@34plus4 I've just googled Elisa Iam and watched the video. Wow.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 10/04/2019 13:50

OK, fair enough. So, where's his body ? The police have spent many many hour sifting many many tons/tonnes of rubbish and also searching the land fill site. So, again, where's his body

The bin in question may not have gone to the landfill. There is a chance that it went to the incinerator.

BlackCatSleeping · 10/04/2019 13:56

But if Corrie wasn't in the bin, then where is he? How did he disappear in such a built-up area with no one seeing him and nothing on CCTV? He was a big guy, so let's say someone got in a fight with him and accidentally killed him, they could never have moved and hidden his body. There was no sign that he was in debt or having an affair or living a double life. And he was wasted that night. He could barely walk. There just isn't any other reasonable explanation for what happened to him, I think.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls l agree with you.

notacooldad · 10/04/2019 14:46

It Is horrible reading these stories. Many I have known and heard about throughout the years and some art new to me.
So many lives lost and families destroyed!

Lives changed at a moment notice forever. Heartbreaking.

Not only that but there was plenty of testimony to confirm he never left the restaurant. Not just the tapas 7 either.

Its weird, which so much cctv you would think people wouldnt be able to disappear.

colbyandmontysmum · 10/04/2019 18:11

@scissorlover - I read Dead Mountain and didn't think a lot about the author's theory. Igor Dyatlov was a highly experienced Grade II hiker (as were the others). This trip was to complete their Grade III certification which was the highest certification available in the Soviet Union. The author didn't give Dyatlov credit for being a calm, level headed leader. He once saved a panicked group of hikers from being trampled to death by a herd of wild horses when he ordered them to stand close together which made the horses run around them. I can't see that this young man would succumb to infrasound.

KindnessIsUnderrated · 10/04/2019 18:37

The Corrie McKeague case is really strange. He did have a bit of a double life going on. A girlfriend in Scotland and one in Bury St Edmonds. He was on swingers sites and there were strong rumours that he was bi but closeted. He had just discovered that his girlfriend in Bury was pregnant (according to his dad, anyway, though his mum says he didn't know).

His car was parked around the corner from where he went missing, so he could have slept in the back seat of that rather than a bin.

He was also involved with the London gay scene and was friends with a drag queen there.

So much strangeness. I don't think his body is in the landfill. I suspect it may be found in years to come in Thetford Forest, by dog walkers.
