Which brand(s) are you on just now ? I'm off gin until April but I shall begin by finishing ( if that's possible) the bottle of Beefeater I opened last September. I usually go for slightly higher quality offerings such as Tanqueray and Morrison's Best and I'm happy with Schweppes tonic. Fever Tree doesn't really do it for me. I've yet to try Aldi gin but there's a new Aldi being built nearby so there may be an opportunity there.

Whittaker’s Winter Solstice is gorgeous.

Wonder if they do a Summer one?

If you try Sipsmith or Hendrick’s you’ll never go back, seriously.

They are my everyday gins now, which is just as well as the price stops me guzzling them too much.

Plymouth. Wish I could justify paying the extra for Navy Strength, as the flavours in that are amazing. And have a bottle of Sloe on the go year round.

Never cheap tonic, though. I like elderflower tonic. And if it's to mix with sloe gin, it would be lemon and elderflower, bitter lemon - or rose lemonade.

Thinking about it, I could probably make rosewater infused lemon/lime ice cubes. Hmmmm....

Ginger gin sounds lovely. My favourite is Larios 12. Bought in duty free on the way home from holiday. Should have bought 2L but DP picked up some berry flavoured horror instead...

SeraphinaDombegh · 09/03/2019 20:51

My favourite gins at the moment are Caorunn and Lilliard (bit of a Scottish thing going on!). It's got to be at least a half-decent tonic with it, though. My tastes have become more refined the more interesting gins I try!

spendthemoney · 09/03/2019 20:52

I second Hortus gin from Lidl. I am a gin drinker on a budget. Their gin liqueur is delicious and I like the proper gin too. I just can't spend £20+ on a bottle. I also love the Aldi Gingerbread gin. I am buying a bottle of gin a week because I want to build up a proper collection for the summer evenings. I will start to buy a bottle a month instead and get the more expensive shop versions at some point. I prefer it with lemonade.

Worlds0kayestmum · 09/03/2019 20:53

I'm drinking the Aldi Victoria pink gin at the moment. It's very nice

scissorsandpen · 09/03/2019 20:55

Has anyone tried jamjar gin it’s noticable different and just so fab. Someone mentioned Ophir I love that too

flatmouse · 09/03/2019 20:57

Been drinking Boyles tonight (from ALDI) - nice "straight" gin, ut the plum & clémentine ALDI had befor Xmas is exceptional. Love Mermaid gin (one of the botanicals is samphire and it smells like you're beside the sea). Also love chase grapefruit gin, and quite a few Scottish distilleries. Not a big fan of carounn but love rock rose and johnsmas (latter being Orkney).

I do seem to have a preference for gins that mix well with "Mediterranean" tonic and garnish with orange, and I am a tonic snob.

Also have a number of bottles left from my gin advent calendar (Sainsburys) which I really enjoyed - fab way to try different gins. Oh, and fave Whitley neill is the raspberry one!

JaneEyre07 · 09/03/2019 20:58

I had a bottle of Ophir for christmas that I'm slowly working my way down.

Other favourites were Gin Mare, Cocoa Gin from Hotel Chocolat and you can't beat Hendricks. I'm not into the sugar-syrupy flavoured stuff.

scissorsandpen · 09/03/2019 20:58

Gordon’s is fine but some that have been mentioned are slightly more flavoursome if that makes sense. Rose can be a strange flavour but I recently got one from M&S and it was delicious very subtle

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 09/03/2019 21:02

Copper House is bloody good, as is Foxdenton's 58% and their raspberry at 21%. My preferred mixer is Belvoir elderflower or Fentiman's rose lemonade.

LovingLola · 09/03/2019 21:04

Dingle Gin is very nice

happymummy12345 · 09/03/2019 21:07

I only like Gordon's pink. I have it with fentimans pink lemonade (my fave) or normal lemonade. I hate tonic it's so dry.

scissorsandpen · 09/03/2019 21:12

Get mans grapefruti tonic very nice too

keepforgettingmyusername · 09/03/2019 21:20

Dingle gin is the superior gin by a country mile.

Littlebelina · 09/03/2019 21:26

Another vote for Adnams copper house

WinterBerry7 · 09/03/2019 21:32

I always end up going back to Bombay for a normal have at home gin. Currently in the house we have Bombay, Whitley Neal Rhubarb and Ginger and Greenall’s.

The best gin I’ve ever had was Trevathen Cornish Gin. Had it on holiday last year and decided to treat myself to a bottle, then I saw it was £45 and I just couldn’t justify it Blush

longtompot · 09/03/2019 21:45

My favourite is Winchester dry gin. It was released in 2017 and is the best I've ever had. www.winchesterdistillery.co.uk/products/winchester-dry-gin

Mind, I've not tried many, just Bombay Sapphire, Gordons, Tanquery, and Lidl own. The Winchester one I could drink on its own as its so smooth.
I'm going to look up the forest gin mentioned above as that sounds interesting.

Slowknitter · 09/03/2019 21:48

I love a G&T, but I'm a bit baffled by this massive craze for different gins. I don't think they are worth the hype tbh. I'm happy with Gordon's or whatever.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 09/03/2019 21:48

All the gins Gin

Boom76 · 09/03/2019 21:54

Marylebone. Love it

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 09/03/2019 21:56

Lots of small distilleries here in Alberta, Canada. My favourite is Park. It’s made in Banff. Contains Spruce Tips.

AwkwardPaws27 · 09/03/2019 22:01

Black Forest Needle gin from Aldi is gorgeous.
Steer clear of the Aldi Topaz gin (Bombay Sapphire knock-off, disappointing), but the London Dry is lovely and the Gin Lane pink gin is great too. Actually, all the Aldi gins except the topaz one have been great. And cheap. Mmmmmmm gin.

MusicToMyEars800 · 09/03/2019 22:05

Just polished a bottle of hortus citrus gin from..Lidl and it's sooooo good!!! Grin
