Got a new store opening very close by, so please give me your recommendations! I'm usually a Lidl shopper.

Bloomer bread
Chocolate
Biscuits
Organic eggs
Hummus
Little packs of nuts by the till !
Wine
Flowers
Butter
Cheese

Not good ..
cereal
Pre prepared salad
Cakes

shecamefromgreece · 20/02/2019 20:35

To be honest pretty much everything. The only things we don't like are the quavers and the fabric conditioner.
Special mention to
The steak especially sirloin
The brioche rolls
The chocolate chip brioche

Arealhumanbeing · 20/02/2019 21:09

Truffle salami
Different kinds of cheese
Candles
Merino wool leggings and tops
The party food at Christmas!

CheddarAndCrackers · 20/02/2019 21:21

Chocolate, cheese biscuits, tinned tomatoes, pate, part cooked baguettes, norpak, mature cheddar, most of the Fox's biscuits dupes.

Prepackaged walnut halves etc nicer than and cheaper than tesco.

3in4years · 20/02/2019 22:01

Packets of risotto - the stuff you just add water to sold alongside pockets of microwave rice. So cheap and so good.
Balsamic vinegar.
Baby food and baby biscuits.
Fruit juice.
Ryvita style biscuits.
Flapjack bars.
Granola.
Crumpets.
Loo roll.
Most of the crisps, chocolate, ceral bars and wine are rank imo.

BIWI · 20/02/2019 23:19

The wine definitely isn't rank! It depends on what you buy, I suppose. But there are some very good, award-winning wines there for a really good price

GreenTuftyFlowers · 21/02/2019 21:47

Most of it is actually very good including the booze.

Faves - fake choc bars (fake mint aeros - vvv good, fake bounty bars, fake twix, fake milky way, fake penguin etc)

Free range chickens

SaffronWood12 · 21/02/2019 21:51

Frozen cheesy garlic bread - lots of cheese and garlic on them!
Aldi's version of strong bow dark fruit- better than the real thing!
Toilet rolls
Sugar
Washing stuff
Cheese
Butter
Meat
Their version of kinder buenos think they called spirals
Chocolate
Chips
Yoghurts

Seashell80 · 22/02/2019 08:29

Highly recommend the chocolate Swiss roll, we had it at work yesterday it was amazing!

thewinkingprawn · 22/02/2019 08:35

I recently moved from shopping at Waitrose to doing all our shopping in aldi:

Norpak spread
Titan bars (own version of mars bars)
Pizza
Mince (5%)
Sausages
Fresh rice pudding
Yoghurts
Cheese

Not so nice:
Filled pasta

SoupDragon · 22/02/2019 10:36

Their rip off Snickers bars are amazing. They might be called Racer (presumably a nod to good old Marathon!)

Hersetta427 · 22/02/2019 11:06

Their specially selected 30 day aged sirloin steaks are amazing. Norpak butter is good. Super seeded loaf, CHoc chip brioche loaf, choc croissant, finest hot cross buns are all lovey. Multipack Crisps excellent too - as is their yellow label prosecco!

Dragonlight · 22/02/2019 11:20

Most things! The dairy, juice, organic chocolate, toilet paper, eco cleaners, ravioli (fresh), bread, choc croissants, kombucha. Meat can be a bit iffy and same with fruit and veg but otherwise it's excellent.

Vivaldi1678 · 22/02/2019 11:21

Cheese, especially the black pepper and garlic roules and the gorgonzola douce. Very good with the black pepper crackers. The Oliver Cromwell gin is excellent value (and I'm a Monkey 47 girl!). Veg are fine and good value, but the meat is a bit variable.

Hersetta427 · 22/02/2019 11:22

Their mars bar copies (Titan) are good too. I did blind taste tests for the kids at the weekend and they both chose the Aldi versions over Mars and Snickers bars.

Vivaldi1678 · 22/02/2019 11:22

Also the chocolate is good, especially the sea salt and vanilla flavours.

Vivaldi1678 · 22/02/2019 16:49

And the flowers are excellent.

BIWI · 22/02/2019 18:35

Agree re the flowers - I've just come back from there and bought 10 mixed colour roses - Fair-trade - for £3! The last lot I bought are still hanging on, two weeks later, so they last as well

Vinorosso74 · 22/02/2019 20:02

I have recently started getting some bits at Aldi. It's a small store and no car parking so am limited with what I buy. Regular purchases have been fruit and veg; juices; biscuits-have discovered their Penguin rip off "Seal" biscuits; actually the biscuits are good. They do sensible sized bags if nuts for reasonable price. Sliced Emmental cheese for sarnies. Not tried the wine but range looks ok.

Chickenvindasaag · 22/02/2019 20:15

The packs of sliced mozzarella and pepperoni. Moser roth chocolate. All the face creams and aussie dupes. The lime, basil and mandarin jo malone dupes. Bread and cheese are excellent!

starcruiser · 22/02/2019 20:53

Tablet ice cream- although couldn't find it last time.
Chocolate
Organic Prosecco and Organic Pinot
Thick cut crisps
The 'Jo Malone' Candles and reed diffusers
Caramel and walnut slices
Orange juice with bits in it
Salami and parma ham
Oh and I got a retro 1970s phone for £20.

starcruiser · 22/02/2019 20:54

Ooops olive oil - forgot that

JRMisOdious · 22/02/2019 20:55

Specially selected crunchy westcountry cheddar and the specially selected Red Leicester (red fox, I think it’s called?). Black and orange packets respectively. Better than cave aged Wookey hole and fraction of the cost.

longwayoff · 22/02/2019 21:00

Had rolled stuffed porchetta roast the other day very good. Their aged steak is excellent. Try everything, I've no complaints other than my nearest js miles away and cant get there often. Although watch the parking not always free.

Tavannach · 22/02/2019 21:03

Cat litter
Flowers
I've liked the wine that I've tried but that's only rosé and organic prosecco.

The coffee is dire
