^THE^ Drone

Why the fuck has it taken 18 hours to decide to shoot the fucking thing down?

"With pressure increasing to find the perpetrator, Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw, the airport's policing commander, said: 'Each time we believe we get close to the operator, the drone disappears; when we look to reopen the airfield, the drone reappears. I'm absolutely convinced it's a deliberate act to disrupt Gatwick Airport'."

Clearly a deliberate act. Just shoot the fucking thing down

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine very good point

Chewbecca · 20/12/2018 17:40

I'm so cross about this.

We were due to pick DSS up from GW tomorrow morning, he lives abroad and hasn't been home for Christmas for 5 years (couldn't afford flight at that time and doesn't get much leave) and his granny was so, so excited to see him (well, we all were but she is old and I feel for her especially).
All coz of some idiot.

LadyPasserine · 20/12/2018 17:48

It will turn out to be very well organised and intended to create this kind of disruption. This will not be the last time either. Burglars are also turning to drones to case out rear entrances for house robberies. Given the limited places where drones can be legitimately used, there is no justification for consumers having them in the first place. They should be banned and only licensed to film makers, rescue services, steeplejacks etc. Shotguns are licensed so why not drones.

AgentProvocateur · 20/12/2018 17:51

Am I the only person who’s not actually seen a drone IRL? What size is the Gatwick one?

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 20/12/2018 18:08

Is anyone else wondering if the idiots that are doing this are actually in the airport while the Police are searching outside?

TickleMyPickle · 20/12/2018 18:08

I walked through Gatwick earlier, thousands of people everywhere, saw a lot of children crying who were supposed to be flying to Lapland to see SantaSad

NoLeslie · 20/12/2018 18:11

We could train eagles to at least fly over and shit all over the damn drones?? Also we need Bruce Willis. Yippee ki ay mother fuckers Xmas Angry

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 20/12/2018 18:20

Following on from my last post - if everyone is searched on the way out of the airport they may well find the bastards. I huge task I know but inside a crowded airport would be the ideal place to sabotage the flights and know what was happening.

canigetaliein · 20/12/2018 18:25

I can’t believe they’ve not sorted this out yet.

Eve · 20/12/2018 19:38

@agent - only seen comments to say it’s an industrial size one which is probably about a meter in width.

I’ve seen military ones and they are the size of a small car!

IamPickleRick · 20/12/2018 19:58

Stupid question... could magnets with a gps attached/string in the blades/a net between two helicopters etc not work Blush

cjt110 · 20/12/2018 22:15

So instead of my SIL and her family landing at 2130 tonight they will land at 0230 tomorrow (tonight) at the wrong end of the country. Be bussed back, and past her final destination to get a train back the route she has come for 100 miles. With a 5 and 7 year old.

What an absolute gobshite... The adults can cope... but the poor children... utterly cunt behaviour

Suggest your sister talks to the coach driver. They will stop for rest breaks etc. and may be willing to drop her off somewhere nearer to her final destination along the route. It might mean someone haveng to collect her from a motorway service station but it could cut hours off her journey

00100001 · 20/12/2018 22:24

I do wish people would stop droning on about this...

canigetaliein · 20/12/2018 22:25

read that about 5 times today 😒

DonkeysEars · 20/12/2018 22:28

The drones are being flown as a distraction/false flag to what is really going on in the airport ...

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 20/12/2018 22:30

Please correct me if I’m wrong... but surely 747 v small drone = victorious 747?? Why can’t they just risk hitting it?

(It might be huge, I have just only only seen local tiny ones!)

Easilyflattered · 20/12/2018 22:33

So everyone they plan to reopen the runway, a drone reappears...somebody must be listening to air traffic control?

canigetaliein · 20/12/2018 22:33

DonkeysEars what’s going on then?

Easilyflattered · 20/12/2018 22:34

*everytime

No idea.
I just like conspiracy theories Grin

TheLittlestLightOnTheTree · 20/12/2018 22:36

risk hitting it? seriously? a plane full of passengers......hole in the plane....possibly the wing where fuel maybe stored.....

PoutySprout · 20/12/2018 22:36

A bird can bring a 747 down very easily.

madeyemoodysmum · 20/12/2018 22:42

I’m convinced it’s the ruskies
