Because of our lounge we have a tall but slim tree. Just seen a thread with SO many beautifully decorated bushy full trees.

Ours looks crap in comparison. It's not going up til the 14th but this was it 2 years ago..

Does it look shit to you?

This is really lovely from Daisy ....

I remember our beautiful Christmas tree as a child, it was like a real one, coveted in beautiful decorations and lights and a true beauty to see.
Found a photo the other day and burst out laughing at how awful it was, a pole with a few spindaly branches!

Read it and breathe OP, your tree is fine and your DC will feel the same way as Daisy.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 02/12/2018 19:48

We have a small house and too much furniture. We have a tree that's six foot as any taller and it would be too wide, but it's not a narrow made tree and we just arrange the branches so it can sit closer to the wall at the back. We put ours on a box too so it's taller and doesn't look so sad.

I also have tree envy but can't justify the expense of a balasam hill luxury one and once I saw the weight of them I knew I wouldn't want to have to be wrestling one of those in and out of the loft.

Stephisaur · 02/12/2018 19:48

Ours is a 6ft tree but our ceilings are around 8 foot. We have the tree on an ikea lack table covered in a tree skirt for height.

I think you could improve it by fluffing out the branches more. You don’t just want to open them out sideways, but up and down too to fill some of the gaps.

Then, put your lights close to the trunk and your decorations on the edges of the branches.

Hope this helps :)

I’m just jealous of the OP and others with high ceilings Grin

Would love to live in a house with high ceilings.

Our lounge wall goes up and into our bedroom. Just taken this photo whilst sat on the sofa looking up to our room. We live in a penthouse so are in the roofpsace. The window on our shortest wall is 3m tall.

That tree needs as much tinsel as it can get op!!

Santaselfhasarrived · 02/12/2018 20:19

It doesn't look awful, it's just skinny.
If you're really not happy with b&q have a lovely bushy 7ft tree for £23. I bought the same one last year as I was like you kept looking at my tree and getting upset.

Obviously if you can't afford to buy a new one now, there's a brilliant trick to do to make it look a little fuller.
When opening up the branches, pull them into a star shape, so one up, one down and two to the side, then with the back branches wrap them around each branch going in a circle. I hope that makes sense?Grin

cjt110 · 02/12/2018 20:50

I need someone to dress my tree lol.

Your idea of wrapping faux pine tinsel around the centre might work and give it more depth. TBH though I would let it be what it is, a lovely elegant pale beauty. And get yourself a nice big fat fire hazard version next year Grin

cjt110 · 02/12/2018 20:58

Urgh. I'm so cross that I'm so worked up about it... It's a bloody tree that's up once a year for a fortnight ConfusedHmm

I think it would look better in the corner, it looks kind of awkward just sat there on the end! Can you shove your tv unit over? Also agree it needs to be put on a box to raise it up. Is it fake?

ApollO88 · 02/12/2018 21:01

We have one tiny recess that is the only place for a tree. So a tall and skinny tree is our only option. I hate tinsel so it's just string garlands, balls and lights on our tree

swimminggala52 · 02/12/2018 21:26

It looks lovely but what about pulling your branches in all different directions so it's not all level branches? I think that makes it look bushier

ohhelpohnoitsa · 02/12/2018 21:29

Cjt110 what area do you live in?

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 02/12/2018 21:40

We got our 7ft tree from b and q a couple of years ago for £20 and it’s lovely and bushy. Just a thought if you fancy replacing yours

cjt110 · 02/12/2018 21:41

ohhelp We're in Yorkshire x
