I have tree envy :-(

Because of our lounge we have a tall but slim tree. Just seen a thread with SO many beautifully decorated bushy full trees.

Ours looks crap in comparison. It's not going up til the 14th but this was it 2 years ago..

Does it look shit to you?

MyLearnedFriend I think both have as my last post from you is at 21.46 asking how their post helps me.

I find my replies don't post from the app. Only the web page x

Apology accepted Smile

It took me a while to get picture altered to remove my kids cheesy faces in the background and then to find a link to the tree.

It really is quite a good tree for the price, I’m impressed every year when I get it out again Grin

I just had a whinge to my mum said she loves our tree. That its traditional with decorations we have selected even the hideous purple fairy and that it would be a crime to go all magazine like.

Exhibit A... shit purple fairy.

MyLearnedFriend Yep... how curious as I read your second apology

OP could you temporarily rehome the kallax in order to get some more room for your tree?

cjt110 · 02/12/2018 21:57

MyLearnedFriend You mean the layout of my house? Thank you xx

OP posts:
cjt110 · 02/12/2018 21:58

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam Kallax under finshtank will be being rehomed for the purpose. We didn't have the stupid fucking ginormous chair last year.

Cgt...Yorskshire is a bit too far. I bought a tree in the b and q sale last year. I may well have gifted it to you. The thought was there.....

beeefcake · 02/12/2018 22:21

Yes the plain pine garland would work, if you wrap it round in a disorganised fashion to make it look more natural (not just in circles) if that makes sense?

I put berry garland round my flocked tree to fill it out this year and am pretty pleased with it

FannyFanackerpants71 · 02/12/2018 22:47

Op I think your tree is lovely. I wonder if you haven't opened out all your branch's enough. Re siting it will also help. It really is very nice as is your home.

cjt110 · 03/12/2018 06:45

Silly isn't it how something so little and insignificant can make you so cross lol

Will try the tips suggested and not look at anymore trees!!

Have you tried looking on the free sites in your area? I saw 3 trees up for grabs on there last night, also have a look on gumtree and fb selling sites, you can really find a few gems on there.

cjt110 · 03/12/2018 11:20

Am staying with our tree. This whole thing has snowballed my anxiety... Bloody stupid

PlateOfBiscuits · 03/12/2018 11:33

The photos of your little boy hanging decs on the tree is so lovely!!

And your home is beautiful.

I think the new position will solve all your problems as it won’t look so lost to the ceiling height.

cjt110 · 03/12/2018 11:36

Just ordered that plain garland to stuff the gaps a bit.

Now need to try and think of other stuff

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 03/12/2018 11:42

Do the branches pouffe out? Our tree looks a bit thin unless it's given a vigorous pouffing to minimise the gaps between branches.

What about trying lights that have actual shades on them to wind around filling up the gaps? Like these?

I think I have the same tree! I got plain wreaths from Poundland, snipped one side with a wire cutter, and slotted them between the layers. It hides some of the gappiness.

I'm like you, I'm limited in options due to budget AND our small/narrow living room. If it is the same one, it can look really nice with loads of decs and about 1800 lights :)

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 03/12/2018 11:54

Oh yes definitely, chuck all the shit of the day at it. I have no time for real open branched trees sparsely decorated with charming traditional trinkets.

Slather the fucker in lights and beaded garlands, show it who's boss, OP!

PlateOfBiscuits · 03/12/2018 12:01

Yes, don’t let it feed your anxiety. Put it out of your mind and do something distracting.

cjt110 · 03/12/2018 12:03

FaceLikeAPairOfTits That really made me smile - thank you.

My favourite tree is our childminder's one, decorated for and by her mindees. It's fabulous, really cheery and jolly and it makes me smile every year when it goes up. You can't see a scrap of the tree, it's groaning under the weight of several miles of tinsel and a transit van full of mismatched decorations. I love it. Grin

Santasushi · 03/12/2018 12:13

I love your house op. I would have a fat tree rather than a tall tree. The ceilings are so high that any tree will look tiny. Go for short and podgy.
