Tell me something lovely your DP has done lately

Okay I am in a bit of a mushy mood today Blush But it'd be lovely to hear some nice stories, especially given how many horrible DPs we hear about on MN!

Today DP took me windsurfing (which he used to do professionally - I'm completely crap a novice). In retrospect he must have known it was in no way windy enough for him to get out and have any fun. But he drive me 40 minutes there because I wanted to go - rigged all the gear for me, popped me on the water and stood on the shore in the pouring rain for an hour shouting tips and taking photos, then took all the gear apart while I got warm, put it all away, drove me home and gave me a blow by blow account in the way back of how much I've improved mainly lies, I'm still utterly crap

Not the biggest gesture ever but I felt very loved and told him so.

What about you lot?

Sent me a photo of a little village and then a cottage and told me he had booked us a little break at Christmas Smile

My lovely DP spent two hours today cleaning and polishing my boots and shoes. Star

Doidontimmm Aw snap! DH surprised me with booking a lovely weekend away for our anniversary in December.
Loving the tone of this thread Smile

Howtodeal · 30/09/2018 20:37

Bought me flowers for no reason when he went to Tesco yesterday

Si1ver · 30/09/2018 20:37

My husband put the food shopping away while I had a nap on the sofa and then vacuumed the bedroom and put clean sheets on the bed so I'd be comfortable while he's away with work this week.

ny20005 · 30/09/2018 20:39

My lovely dh got up after 3 hrs sleep to drive me to a volunteering role this morning

MatchsticksForMyEyesReturns · 30/09/2018 20:40

Booked me a package where I get a back massage, head massage, facial and foot massage and told me that he will look after my kids when I go. Cooks almost every meal when he's over, helps ds with his guitar. He's lovely.

Livedandlearned2 · 30/09/2018 20:42

Dh reads to me while I fall asleep, hasn't done that today but promised to do it tonight. I love falling asleep listening to a book. He picked me a little bunch of flowers from the garden today.

Doilooklikeatourist · 30/09/2018 20:43

Went up in the attic and handed me down loads of bags of tat ( accounts from 1990 , and a bundle of Woman’s Journal from 1976 among other treasures )
This involved climbing a ladder and perching on top of a wardrobe to let himself into the pop hole in the celiling leading into the attic
He’s scared of heights ( and doesn’t like dust )
I’m frightened of( -everything up there- ) spiders , so I couldn’t go up there

hailstone1 · 30/09/2018 20:44

Cooking, tidying and generally looking after me. I have morning sickness and have been a bit useless since it got it's peak this weekend. He's been amazing and don't know what I'd have done without him these last few weeks

Thisnamechanger · 30/09/2018 20:45

Wow, that's properly romantic!

Love hearing everyone's stories Smile

These are so lovely.

We've been trying to conceive for nearly three years, had two failed IVF cycles and it's really taken it's toll on our relationship. Last weekend we found out his brother and SIL are pregnant - DH had to tell me and it was ugly, I got very upset and took it out on him in some ways. He made me a really lovely Sunday dinner and he got me a detox pack from Oliver Bonas to try and help. I feel really bad writing this here as it was thoughtful of him but I've been so sad and angry and depressed I haven't acknowledged to him that he tried.

Parttimewasteoftime · 30/09/2018 20:50

Gave me a lie in and cooked tonight whilst me and ds's watched a Christmas film and the dishwasher is on 😇

overnightangel · 30/09/2018 20:51

This week he’s driven to a warehouse and back (3hr round trip) on his day off while I was in work to return and replace something I ordered wrongly (oops) and filled an old roses tin with my favourite chocs and sweets etc to leave in his car for if he’s ever giving me a lift ( I don’t drive)

Lazybonita · 30/09/2018 20:52

My DH bought me lunch today and then made dinner. He also installed our new tumble dryer while I was out with ds and I came home to two loads of washing already done.

Awe. Go give him hug!

Took me to the theatre to see something he knew I would love (and that really wasn’t his cup of tea). He even snuck out to the merchandise bit at the interval to buy me overpriced show tat which he knew I’d love.

But just generally he is the kindest and most thoughtful and loving man I’ve ever met. Luckily our relationship style is mostly mocking and sarcastic so I don’t have to say that to him often. I try to show him how fab I think he is though and he does the same.

mimibunz · 30/09/2018 20:54

Went to two shops to find a treat I wanted, and baked a cake for my office charity morning. Star

CantankerousCamel · 30/09/2018 20:54

Thursday he came home, made dinner, put the baby to bed, read the boys a story then made love to me. I know that doesn’t sound like much but when you’re crawling the walls with anxiety it means a lot.

This weekend despite being unwell he built and filled our new woodshed

He also bought us all a carvery dinner :-)

DH is full of love and kindness, not mad grand gestures or even little romantic ones. Just an unswathing, unchanging and endless love for me and our children.

He’s awesome, every day

MrsXx4 · 30/09/2018 20:54

He always does lovely thoughtful things for me but today he washed my hair for me. He got home from the gym and I was in the bath exhausted and achy after another night of no sleep, I’m 7months pregnant and been very uncomfortable lately. He came in the bathroom to say hi and ended up washing my hair then took me to lunch.

Lovely thread!

Thisnamechanger · 30/09/2018 20:55

if he’s ever giving me a lift ( I don’t drive)

Ditto, and he takes me to and from work. I always make sure I say thank you every day, even if we're in a fight and not speaking. Also he doesn't seem to mind my side of the car being an extension of my handbag Blush

It was my birthday last week. He doesn't normally buy me a present - since we were teens he has taken me shopping to buy something instead.

But this year he drove our daughter to school then came back with a big bunch of lilies, a packet of croissants and a box of posh tea bags and a huge soppy card. Not sure why he did that but I love him for it.

Rarfy · 30/09/2018 20:56

I picked dp up from a day drinking in a seaside town yesterday. Im almost 23wks pregnant. When i collected him he had been in a gift shop and bought me a cup and some peanut brittle. So cute! He also tried to get a Christmas bauble with the name i have proposed for our baby on it which made me very happy as we have not really agreed on names but i guess he has come round to it.

Justabadwife · 30/09/2018 21:01

Yesterday he helped me move all the furniture around in the living room, and then he helped me move it all again when I realised it looked stupid. All while I was being a stroppy dickhead.

Today he has just been really good. He's got really bad social anxiety, But today we've been to a busy kids play area and maccys and done probably 2hrs in the car. He was really calm and it was just lovely. 💖
