Tell me something lovely your DP has done lately

Okay I am in a bit of a mushy mood today Blush But it'd be lovely to hear some nice stories, especially given how many horrible DPs we hear about on MN!

Today DP took me windsurfing (which he used to do professionally - I'm completely crap a novice). In retrospect he must have known it was in no way windy enough for him to get out and have any fun. But he drive me 40 minutes there because I wanted to go - rigged all the gear for me, popped me on the water and stood on the shore in the pouring rain for an hour shouting tips and taking photos, then took all the gear apart while I got warm, put it all away, drove me home and gave me a blow by blow account in the way back of how much I've improved mainly lies, I'm still utterly crap

Not the biggest gesture ever but I felt very loved and told him so.

What about you lot?

I've been ill with the flu - he ran me a hot bubble bath, got me a face mask and read me a story in the bathGrin He then left me to chill. I came out and he'd been to the bakery to get my favourite bread rolls and some bacon for bacon sandwiches and cups of tea Smile he's a numpty sometimes but he's a lovely numpty

DonnaDarko · 30/09/2018 21:52

He bought cheesecake, and he let me have a nice, long nap.

Food + sleep = winning

Got me a 'pre-anniversary ' card and flowers on the dare we will be married next year. I've picked a good one Smile

HolyForkingShirt · 30/09/2018 21:56

Booked us a surprise trip to the theatre, because I'd been stuck in the house doing nothing while between jobs

Left a note by the sink saying "I'll wash up when I get home - I love you"

Smile

Feel like I’ve had a little bit of post natal depression creep in me this week and DH literally did everything for my on today (feeding, changing, playing etc.), and also the house (changed sheets, cleaned kitchen etc) so I could have some time to myself. He took my DS to supermarket and come back with my favourite yellow roses! I’m very very lucky Grin Blush

Whisky2014 · 30/09/2018 21:57

He did the seating plan for our wedding!

iwillbemummy · 30/09/2018 21:58

So many typos!!! Currently in my DS room with him asleep on me (he’s been poorly this evening). Hence the lack of attention to proof reading before posting lol

Mayhemmumma · 30/09/2018 22:01

He cuts up fruit for me and the kids.

He re-parks my car so I don't have to reverse out onto busy road.

cricketmum84 · 30/09/2018 22:02

I started doing the ironing and was almost in tears with sciatica pain. He took over and poured me a glass of wine and refused to let me do anything the rest of the day!

Poolofjoy · 30/09/2018 22:09

Just back from a weekend away which my dh booked as a surprise ‘just because’. It consisted of a spa, a hotel, an outdoor cinema viewing and shopping at Bicester Village on the way home Smile we’ve been married over 10 years. He’s the best!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 30/09/2018 22:15

DH came home with scratch cards yesterday, I won £15. I was really pleased.

I also had to go away with work last week. When I came home he had made my favourite dinner because he missed me.

He took my grandmother for a meal and to the theatre while I was away, too, because my parents were on holiday and she was feeling a little lonely. He went down to check she was ok, then decided on a whim that he would take her out for the evening.

He's so thoughtful.

Thisnamechanger · 30/09/2018 22:17

Poolofjoy that sound amazing!

Me and DP are starting something really cheesy called Mystery Date. Basically you go on Timeout or similar and take turns to book something, even if it just a 10% off food voucher or something, so that one of us has a surprise evening out each month. I've pushed the boat out a bit for the first one Blush

Mine was my friend all through my autism diagnosis and subsequent break up of relationship. This involved a complex arrangement where I wasn’t able to live in my house for 6 months and when I moved back in, the ex had made an absolute state of my much loved house.

I also needed some new furniture and managed to order a sideboard from a clearance place for a great discount but they announced they would deliver it the very next day when I had booked a day out at a festival with a friend. By now the friend was my new boyfriend and he went and sat in my house for 4 hours waiting for it to be delivered! Not only that, he has the wifi password but instead of bringing his laptop, he brought some extra cleaning equipment he had ordered off Amazon to tackle some particularly bad parts of the house. This involved scrubbing all my skirting boards, deep cleaned the shower screen, included the very grubby seal and pulling all my hair out of the plug hole! As well as carrying my very heavy sideboard into the house via the back garden when it finally arrived and ordering a pizza for when I arrived home, having had a lovely evening with a friend.

I felt so loved I cried! The fact he was willing to clear up my ex’s mess because he wanted me to be happy just blew my mind!

gttia · 30/09/2018 22:22

Looking after me after my hysterectomy. He's been totally amazing

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 30/09/2018 22:23

Renovated our kitchen Grin

Restlessinthenorth · 30/09/2018 22:25

By DP, without hesitation, gave up his Saturday to take my daughter to a sporting competition at the other side of the county, as circumstances meant I couldn't get there. Her own dad said it was "too far to drive". My DP was amazing, sending me video updates, giving her loads of support, and telling her how proud he was, even when she didn't do great. Heart melting ❤️

QueenOfMyWorld · 30/09/2018 22:30

Ends in lingus

ladybee28 · 30/09/2018 22:31

I had to lead a 3 hour seminar from 7:30 this morning (online) to 450 people. I was tired and pre-menstrual and nervous about it yesterday, so this morning DP got up waaay earlier than he had to (he works nights and didn't get home until 3am last night) and delivered me coffee to the shower before the call.

When I got out he'd made me breakfast, and then once I was finished he.... erm... "congratulated" me for a successful seminar... three times Blush

QueenOfMyWorld · 30/09/2018 22:33

ladybee 😁

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 30/09/2018 22:34

DH and I are semi retired but today he did a long shift so I don't have to do much work wise this week.

He put in 12 hours.

After tea we sat watching the telly and he jumped up and disappeared. Returning with his glasses case ( he needs then for the tv) he sat down, opened his case and brought out not glasses but two Whispa bars. We had a giggle

He had bought them on his way back from work and had forgotten he had got them.

PickAChew · 30/09/2018 22:35

Got me an early birthday present of a gorgeous radio I'd been lusting after for our bedroom.

CantankerousCamel · 30/09/2018 22:36

Martin

I love that, so simple and sweet and lovely
