Tell me something lovely your DP has done lately

Okay I am in a bit of a mushy mood today Blush But it'd be lovely to hear some nice stories, especially given how many horrible DPs we hear about on MN!

Today DP took me windsurfing (which he used to do professionally - I'm completely crap a novice). In retrospect he must have known it was in no way windy enough for him to get out and have any fun. But he drive me 40 minutes there because I wanted to go - rigged all the gear for me, popped me on the water and stood on the shore in the pouring rain for an hour shouting tips and taking photos, then took all the gear apart while I got warm, put it all away, drove me home and gave me a blow by blow account in the way back of how much I've improved mainly lies, I'm still utterly crap

Not the biggest gesture ever but I felt very loved and told him so.

What about you lot?

I'm sorry I have nothing at all to add but this is a lovely thread, I'm separated & just about to divorce a horribly selfish & lazy cheat but this is so nice to read! I'm determined to believe that there are lovely thoughtful men out there & this thread shows it. Stories like these help me stay positive about my future x

Dh reads to me while I fall asleep

Mine does sometimes; too Smile he's wonderful. There's something pretty much every day that makes me very grateful for him.. he's just wonderful, he makes every day better. Today he's looked after me all day - running me a bath, making ginger tea, keeping me warm... whilst I've been poorly.

Wouldn't swap him for the world!

Moonflower12 · 30/09/2018 21:03

Today my DP is doing his 2nd 12 hour shift this weekend as overtime to make sure we have enough money to move house and get some new bits for the new house. So he's worked 7 days on the trot. He's in the ambulance service so no 'swanning about'.
He always makes sure DD, Ddog and I feel loved.

Moonflower12 · 30/09/2018 21:06

@Rosiepicnic
It will get better and there are good men out there.
I was in as abusive relationship- DV etc.
DP is the total opposite so there is hope for you too.

StrugglingOn13 · 30/09/2018 21:08

DP is not a big cuddler, but knows I’ve been feeling low recently. This morning he pulled me in for a lovely morning snuggle before getting up and refitting our bathroom on his day off. Might sound really silly for some people but meant a lot Smile

It really made me smile and feel happy this morning, he’s an absolute gem and I can’t wait to marry him next year!

Livedandlearned2 · 30/09/2018 21:14

Rosiepicnic definitely stay positive, my first dh was and still is a selfish, and horrible man. Used me without a second thought. Divorcing him was the best thing I could have done.

juneybean · 30/09/2018 21:15

She's pumicing (sp?!) my feet as we speak!

DParse · 30/09/2018 21:16

Mine tried to distract me when I had sudden and shocking news about a family death. He is absolutely not demonstrative, but I was very, very touched by his slightly clumsy attempt to take my mind off it. Some men are just lovely.

DParse · 30/09/2018 21:17

PS XH was not so nice.

AudTheDeepMinded · 30/09/2018 21:21

I was really poorly yesterday with a bug. DP spent the whole day keeping the DC occupied and away from me, which I would do for him too. But above and beyond the call of duty emptied my sick bowl for me and rubbed my back and brought me water. When I was feeling better he did a chocolate run for me too (you can't beat three chocolate bars after a days' vomiting). He's no romantic but always cares for me.

MawkishTwaddle · 30/09/2018 21:22

Bought me a new pair of Converse and Prince's new cd, just because.

Cleaned my car on his day off.

Wrote me a song.

I luffs him Smile

FoodGloriousFud · 30/09/2018 21:23

He's just generally amazing, but today (and on many other days) he carried my very feminine handbag for me cos my back was agony. I get almost daily back rubs, a cup of tea every morning, cuddled to sleep and made to feel so loved and appreciated every day.

He has been spending numerous hours over the past few weeks trawling eBay for a replacement pair of boots for me.

My boots are six years old and have about had it. I can't find the same boots anywhere and nothing similar is quite right. He's trying to find the exact same boots for me ❤️

BikeRunSki · 30/09/2018 21:26

He gave me his bonus to buy a new mountain bike. Cycling/mountain biking is what we do. I sold my “proper” mountain bike several years ago because I was t using it, couldn’t put a kiddy trailer etc on it. Bought a much simpler, less fun, more child friendly 2nd hand bike instead. Now the dc are much bigger, and the eldest will be needing an adult size bike next, he’s getting mine and I get anew one!

Took the kids to his mates yesterday for a sleepover. I had noon to noon on my own. He's way with work this week plus I've been a bit down so it gave me time to go to the gym both days, get a pedicure, have a bath and a lie in.

Tracked down a book he knew I'd love. Read a review in the paper and although he knew he wouldn't like it he thought I would really enjoy it.he had to go to 3 different book shops to find it. 😍

LatteLover12 · 30/09/2018 21:36

My DP works away & we only see each other on set weekends. He unexpectedly walked through the door on Friday night after an 8 hour drive to surprise me and our boys.

Before he left this afternoon he ran me a bath and sorted out the garden/recycling/school things which makes my life so much easier tonight.

He’s wonderful in lots of ways (and a world away from my awful exh) 😊

motortroll · 30/09/2018 21:37

Insanely jealous of you all. Anyone wanna swap??

BillywilliamV · 30/09/2018 21:38

Left the TV in the middle of the Rider Cup to wrestle a jasmine out of its pot for me, he also cooked Sunday dinner.

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/09/2018 21:39

Took me to Woolly Hugs and occupied DS, drove me home

Babydontcry · 30/09/2018 21:42

Thisnamechanger · 30/09/2018 21:44
