It’s been a long hot summer, and on top of that we’ve just got back from holiday.

And ooooh, it’s so nice to feel cool, cold even. Not to fussed about the rain, that can do one. But tonight it’s recollect and I’ve had to go and get a hoodie on. I might even grab one of our fleecy blankets to get all cozy.

Soooo nice.

So there’s been at least 4 threads on how we all hate summer. From about June onwards.

And now we all hate the cooler weather.

Typical Brits, of which I am one. Love it!

Yes! I was so cold early this morning that I made a hot water bottle and put a huge, soft fluffy throw on the bed. Then got back in with a hot drink. I've been dreaming of that moment since April.

HemanOrSheRa · 21/09/2018 22:19

Well, I'm enjoying feeling cooler. But same as OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny and CitrusFruit9 I am peri menopausal so still managed to end up sweating my tits off a several times this week Angry.

Boyskeepswinging · 21/09/2018 22:22

Love being back in my opaque tights and not having to shave and fake tan my legs for what felt like every bleedin' day for the past six months.
Love wearing longer sleeved tops so don't have to shave pits every day.
Love not having to juggle looking professionally turned out with doing my best to avoid being a hot sweaty mess at work.

toastfiend · 21/09/2018 22:24

I love it! I can wear jeans again and cosy jumpers and boots and scarves and all the lovely winter clothes.

I've been waiting for this since it started getting hot back in June. Actually being able to sleep without overheating. Snuggling up on the sofa with a hot chocolate. Taking the dogs for long walks again without having to worry about them getting heat stroke. Lovely hearty meals that I actually enjoy cooking. Love, love, love it! I've been so happy since I felt that first Autumnal chill in the air. Smile

DeadButDelicious · 21/09/2018 22:29

It's lovely. I could live without the rain but I am loving feeling a nip in the air. Autumn and winter are my favourite time of year. I am so looking forward to the first frost of the season, the clocks going back, cosy dark nights. Bliss.

EnidButton · 21/09/2018 22:46

Not keen when it's really really windy and I could do without the giant eight legged monsters that go on the pull at 3am, but love everything else this season.

Opaque tights, boots, layers, jumpers, biker jackets, plum coloured lipstick, berry nail polish, big soft blankets, hot chocolate, rhubarb crumble and custard, hot apple pie, stews, candles. Bring it on.

GoldenBuns · 21/09/2018 23:06

I live in the SE - doesn't feel chilly yet to me. Every time I put my (light) jacket on, I overheat. Looking forward to a nip in the air.

CakeNinja · 21/09/2018 23:07

I stayed well away from those threads about hating summer, I love it!

safariboot · 21/09/2018 23:13

Love, not really. But difference is if I'm cold I can find my slippers, put a hoodie on, or even cave in and turn on the central heating. In the summer heat just gone I could do nothing but sweat and stink. So autumn is better.

starbrightlight · 21/09/2018 23:16

I need warm weather back for another 10 days please, until our window is installed where there is currently an enormous gaping hole. The last few days we've had a lot of weather inside our house and I've had enough. Can't wait to be cosy again.

LoniceraJaponica · 21/09/2018 23:18

No. We had torrential rain yesterday. Sheffield was gridlocked due to several roads being flooded, and it took me an hour to drive 2.5 miles. Anyone who prefers this to summer is bonkers.

Titsywoo · 21/09/2018 23:21

Really bluntness? I thought this summer was great and felt like it lasted ages. Last year was terrible with a very short feeling summer (I barely wore my summer clothes) but this year I've pretty much been in summer clothing since May until a week or so ago. I do like autumn and winter but this year it feels like a bit of a shock in comparison!

RedneckStumpy · 21/09/2018 23:21

Hello from Maine, 16C during the day, dropping to 4C at night, by mid November the daytime temp will drop below 0 and it won’t be above 0 until March.

It feels nice and cool now but that will change in January when it’s -20C and everything is frozen.

EnidButton · 21/09/2018 23:38

Red 16c sounds quite mild so dropping to -20 must be a shock! What does that feel like to walk in? Or do you avoid it completely?

PoptartPoptart · 22/09/2018 00:21

Nope, I hate being cold.
Getting out of bed in the dark cold mornings is akin to torture.
The bloody noise of the pipes expanding as the central heating comes on in the morning wakes me up, but it’s either that or getting up and going into a freezing bathroom for a shower.
Roll on summer, warmth and sunshine!

RedneckStumpy · 22/09/2018 01:52

EnidButton

It can be very harsh, especially if your hair is wet and starts to freeze, and then snap when you take the hat off! I love it though!

You have to dress well, but not too warm, otherwise you sweat, then your sweat freezes.

Everything becomes very dry,

delphguelph · 22/09/2018 01:59

Oh god yes I love all this autumnal nip in the air.

Hated the extended summer. Ugh. I don't look good in summer clothes. Jeans, boots, scarves, love it.

Currently wearing a hoodie and watching Robin Hood 😏

ProudAunty2nine · 22/09/2018 03:31

Yes thank God for finally feeling cold ... even chilly.

Until 2 or 3 nights ago I was still sleeping with the fan on in the bedroom, wondering when this moment would happen.

But tonight I am cold and snuggled under the duvet ..... finally the heat seems to be over.

ALongHardWinter · 22/09/2018 03:45

Yes! This summer was hell for me. I was beginning to think that it was never going to end. I swore while it was at it's worst that I would never complain about feeling cold again. During the evenings over the last week my feet have felt a bit chilly. And I love it! Smile

Noboozeforme · 22/09/2018 03:50

I hate the summer. Love the winter. Nothing feels as good as being under the covers all snug and warm while your face is freezing !

LoniceraJaponica · 22/09/2018 08:34

"Ugh. I don't look good in summer clothes."

I don't buy this argument. There are sumer clothes for every shape and size. You were wearing the wrong clothes for your shape.

I don't really like cold weather, but don't mind it if I am warm. I don't like damp, grey weather, which is our normal autumn/winter/spring/summer weather where we live. I loved the summer we have just had and feel sad that I will have to put my summer clothes away.

BetterEatCheese · 22/09/2018 08:36

Yes! I work in housekeeping and it has been hell over the summer

LoniceraJaponica · 22/09/2018 08:42

The plus side is that the office is warmer than it was in summer. I froze at work in summer due to the over enthusiastic air conditioning. Now, I can even take my jacket off.

GorgonLondon · 22/09/2018 08:43

No, it's shit and miserable and depressing.
