How do you make your coffee?

I am bored Grin sooo tell me how you make your coffee?! I do coffee, milk then water as my mother always taught me that the water burns the coffee without milk in there first?

My friend does coffee, water then milk and i can't help but think it tastes different! Wether it's that my brain knows she done it that way or it actually does taste different i don't know!

How do you make yours?

Fill mug with milk , nuke until just boiling , add coffee and 2 sugars .

While the kettle is boiling, I chuck a couple of scoops of beans into the grinder and blitz on medium setting. I spoon the ground coffee into the cafetière by which time the kettle has boiled. I leave the kettle for a few seconds, then pour, stir and allow to brew for a couple of minutes. Plunge, pour, enjoy.

Bean to cup coffee machine.

Water at 93 degrees. Temperature really does make a difference. If taken, Milk frothed to no more than 65 degrees.

Myself I have coffee black or with a float of double cream.

Instant coffee is an abomination and should be banned. AIBU? Grin

For me, Bialetti or Aeropress, depending on how I'm feeling. I find Bialetti makes it stronger, Aeropress smoother. Oh, and I've tried the inverted method: a lot of faffing for no difference!

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 20/09/2018 08:52

I put milk in with teabag before water too...

Envy (not envy)

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 20/09/2018 08:53

OP, do you think all people who take their coffee black are drinking burnt coffee?

DaisyStarburst · 20/09/2018 09:27

Aeropress, if going away I take a V60 and my own coffee. Water not boiling and 3rd of teaspoon of coffeemate lite. Anyone else use coffeemate? I hardly drink milk and DH has soya milk so not worth buying milk for me. DC drink full fat milk which I hate.

Coffee, then water - either by French press or instant. Nothing white is allowed anywhere near my coffee! Envy

LemonysSnicket · 20/09/2018 09:55

A Nespresso machine.
Maybe in a Cafetière on a Sunday

My 40+ year old cafetiere produces great coffee and my local Polish shop sells my German favourite, Jacob Kroenung. If it's just me then it's often granules, boiling water and a bit of milk. I get embarrassed if I'm offered coffee as I have to ask if it's instant or ground, the latter I drink very strong and black, the former with a bit of milk. Old coffee granules and tea leaves are good for the garden.
If we're somewhere I'm not sure of the coffee then I order tea as I can't tell good from bad, sorry!

Unicornandbows · 20/09/2018 10:24

I have a dualit machine that I cannot use anymore as coffee gives me migraines.. I miss it so much 😢😢😢😢

NicoAndTheNiners · 20/09/2018 10:34

I do sachets of Nescafé mocha.....so just put boiling water in, sachet has some powdered milk mixed in I think.

I really only drink the mochas and toffee nut sachets......do any of the machines make mochas. Actually I drink flat white with coconut milk when I’m out and like this. I think I could do with a nice coffee machine.

Jaffacakesfordinner · 20/09/2018 10:38

Coffee..milk..mix...water...sweetner..stir. dunni why but its just not right if i add the sweetner before the hot water.

I drink it black quite often. I do let the boiled water cool very slightly, tilt the coffee pot and pour the water against the side instead of directly into the beans. I'm not sure it makes a whole lot of different for coffee, but I'm certain it makes a difference with tea!

A stove-top coffee pot is far better! Grin

Dammit I've just spent ages googling clever coffee cone and finding this
www.oxouk.com/products/christmas/gifts-30-and-under/pour-over-coffee-maker-with-water-tank
which I so fancy because it has a water tank and I wouldn't have to stand over it with a kettle .

And then more time looking for a reusable filter to fit .

I've just tried instant coffee (Douwe Egberts Pure Indulgence Dark Roast, for anyone that's interested Grin) with milk before water and that's quite a game changer.

My guilty pleasure is Coffee Mate in instant coffee, but I might need to try making my own half and half!
