I'm pretty sure your credit card provider will refund you if the fucking hotel doesn't. Take lots of pics and once you have alerted your family that you are bolting, I can talk you through checking the mattress. Take pics of that too.
Sleep on the floor in the lobby.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/08/2018 22:36

P.S: I'm so, so sorry, but you can still salvage this. But yes tonight will be uncomfortable. Get all your stuff out of the room asap.
The bugs like darkness & body heat.

Winegal · 21/08/2018 22:36

From someone who used to live in Cambodia ie the land of the bed bug, best place to check is the seam next to the piping of the mattress if you know what I mean? Look in the crevice. If you them there it's a bed bug for sure.

White vinegar is so much better than pesticides in my experience.

Good luck!

solittletime · 21/08/2018 22:38

Whatever you do DO NOT start investigating and disturbing them especially with all your stuff lying around. Definitely do not take sheets off and look under mattresses. The more they are disturbed the more they will scatter.

Put anything you can in the freezer. If at all possible buy some vacuum pack bags and put your clothes in those. Douse your suitcases in insect repellent and put them in the bath. Put shoes on top of suitcases leave nothing lying around that they can migrate in to!

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/08/2018 22:40

There may also be tiny, tiny blood streaks on the mattress and pillows. It's because bed bugs feed on blood. The streaks are their poo. Which is mainly blood. There will also be eggs, larvae and nymphs, but thease are really hard to spot.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/08/2018 22:41

Exactly, do NOT investigate with any of your stuff still in the room!

solittletime · 21/08/2018 22:41

Obviously you can't do any of that tonight but just advice in case you have no choice but to stay there longer.
Good luck - if you're careful and aware you could avert a crisis!

Good god this sounds frickin horrible! I never knew

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/08/2018 22:49

Two types of people in the world:
Those who happily put their suitcase on a bed and ... we who know.
Yes it's grim.

DrAdmin · 21/08/2018 22:53

There are more... told the husband, he is NOT taking it well!

DrAdmin · 21/08/2018 23:31

Yip there’s an extended family, we can’t get hold of the owner. I think my dh might combust

OP posts:
VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/08/2018 23:44

Please tell me your stuff isn't in the room any more.
Just get out. Sit outside all night. Raise fucking hell (I would).
I'm not being overly dramatic when I say this is almost up there with your room being on fire.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/08/2018 23:47

When you show your DH pics of people's bitten bodies (the bites look awful for months if not years, get infected) and the bills for multiple extermination attempts of your home (plus all the stuff you have to put away before they spray your home each time) plus all the stuff + suitcases to deal with, he should be thanking you on his bare knees.
Not in that hotel mind.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/08/2018 23:50

O, and please DO name & shame on Tripadvisor - it's pretty rare to see such obvius infestation in western hotels ime.

Brenna24 · 21/08/2018 23:58

Oh no. Definitely don't bring your suitcases into your house when you get home without decontaminating them. Hot wash for all your clothes and good long tumble dry. Steam cleaner for anything you can't put in the washing machine/suitcases. Chuck anything like books you don't have to bring back. And be very glad you found out now, bot a month after getting home like we did.

DrAdmin · 21/08/2018 23:59

I will trip advisor them and update mumsnet too. I’ve just read their trip advisor and others have complained of the same. We stayed here 10. Years ago and loved it so thought had had no need to look at trip advisor šŸ˜”

Yuk I would be out of there you poor things

DrAdmin · 22/08/2018 00:32

Dh paid by visa, has anyone had any experience of the money protection? I’m gonna google too. We are currently sleeping (well lying awake scratching, still no bites) on plastic sun loungers in the lounge

OP posts:
VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 22/08/2018 01:31

Thank f youre not sleeping in there. Ask establishment for compensation first, the lazy evil twats. Failing that contact Visa, provided it was a credit card, not a debit card.(section 75)

DrAdmin · 22/08/2018 01:56

I couldn’t, once I’d found others inside the pillow cases

Was like a horror story

Phoned visa and they said to phone a specific no at 7am. Have a new hotel booked for tomorrow night

Well done Dr, you deserve a BIG drink.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 22/08/2018 02:34

And that hotel needs to burn. Like I said in pp, to even spot live big juicy ones isnt THAT common and it means the hotel doesnt give a toss. No regular deep cleans, no hot washes or fresh pillows there. YUCK.
