What do you do in the NHS and which other professionals do you work alongside who you have (job) envy for? I'm trying to decide which career I should choose and need inspiration!

Forgot to say I wouldn't mind working as SALT either. Though there definitely seems to be less job opportunities

I’m a sonographer ( trained as a radiographer first). Quite like my job - don’t really want anyone I work along side with.

If I were to start from scratch the proffesions I would consider would be optician, dentist, physicians associate, anything a little obscure that pays a band 7 relatively early into your career.

No you have to be good with numbers and excel, stats knowledge an advantage but not essential. Also helpful is a knowledge of NHS Data sets.

Anaesthetist - for which you would need a medical degree and then 7+ years of postgrad training.

I do love my job, I don't think I envy anyone else although I would be happier without the 24h on call (during which I am first on call for pretty much everything, no juniors here) and I'm not sure how long I'll be able to work 20+h straight as I get older.

If I envied anyone it would be the forensic pathologists, but I was put off that as a career by the interminable microscope slides!

I am just a patient, but I envy the brain surgeons

@RoseGardenDreams we work with a variety of professions including police, community based health care (sexual health, GP, mental health services) and voluntary/third sector organisations. It's a very interesting but emotionally demanding job. Good support and supervision is vital.
