Coffee drinking

Hi All.
I'd like your opinions on coffee drinking - I've never come across this snobbery before but today I was ripped apart by a fellow teacher in the staffroom.
As I poured my milk into my mug straight after the instant coffee , which I do because I don't like it tasting burnt, a colleague almost ran across the staffroom shouting"Urgh how disgusting putting milk in before the water, thats revolting . Were you dragged up or brought up"
I was mortified but carried on smiling and took my coffee back to my room feeling as if I should crawl back under the rock I came out from!!!
Have I missed something in 46 years of life that makes this a complete no-no unless you come from the dregs of society?

I used to teach and I had a Nespresso machine in my office. Quicker than instant coffee actually.

I'm now one of those SAHMs you clearly despise and have a bean to cup machine that makes a perfect coffee/flat white/latte etc .

I have difficulty in believing that a teacher would make that remark seriously btw. As a breed, teachers tend to be most forgiving over other peoples preferences!

I remember the coffee machine at work, the thing was always breaking down and it absolutely stunk; not what you want to smell whilst pregnant!
