Do you believe in physics?

I don't think I do. All that bumf about electricity and nuclear things and other stuff that is invisible. I simply don't think it exists and is just made up.

The 'dark matter' in this house is usually remedied by the use of a loo brush. Angry

Bagofnutsnbolts · 10/03/2014 18:17

Physics? Is that flying pigs n stuff
Like the dark matter!!

LineRunner · 10/03/2014 18:18

It's obvious it's all such a big con, isn't it? I mean, you book a consultation with a physicist, and all they do is look you up on the internet before you get there, and then when you turn up they say, 'You are made mostly of carbon atoms,' and it's just such a big fucking con trick.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/03/2014 18:19

I think Higgs Bosun should get back on his boat rather than buggering about with atom smashers.

cdwales · 10/03/2014 18:19

OK I am married to a Physics teacher and did the Philosophy of Science myself at Uni so I sort of see both 'sides'. You are absolutely right.
You should not believe in science because it is not fact or truth at all. It is merely the best theory or model that we have at the moment - that is until some better model/explanation comes along. When that happens we dump it and move on! Or we keep it for its practical usefulness but bear in mind that it has limitations (eg Newton's 'Laws'). Psychologically I feel no need to believe anything or search for some universal 'truth'. I am happy to give the answer '42'.
What you 'believe' is of course entirely up to you...personally love/kindness is my god.

AtYourCervix Any chance you would ask MNHQ to move this to "The Science Club" so it doesn't go pfft?

AtYourCervix · 10/03/2014 18:20

I could do with a physisist looking at my back.

There's a science club?

I don't believe it!

LynetteScavo · 10/03/2014 18:22

I don't understand it.

It might be true. But as I don't understand it, it probably isn't true, and so I don't really believe in it.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/03/2014 18:22

There's a Science Club?Shock

Where?

Dawndonnaagain · 10/03/2014 18:23

It's those neutrinos I don't trust!

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2014 18:23

Science Club sounds scary. Who wants to sit at the back with me messing with the gas taps?

meditrina · 10/03/2014 18:23

Science Club here

ChickyEgg · 10/03/2014 18:24

Is it when fings fizz? I believe in that.

meditrina · 10/03/2014 18:24

Two atoms walk into a bar. One says to the other, "I think I've lost an electron!" "Are you sure?" "Yes, I'm positive!"

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2014 18:25

It's a bit quiet in there. Someone else knock.

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2014 18:26

Fings fizz in Chemistry in a much more visible, exciting way.

SusieSusieSheep · 10/03/2014 18:27

It's such rubbish, next they'll be telling us that you can power a clock using a potato. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 10/03/2014 18:28

Science club? Cultists.

AtYourCervix · 10/03/2014 18:29

I have requested a move to The Science Club.

I suspect though that if they try there'll be a big bang and it will cease to exist.

I'm a closet physicist, but DS2 disagrees with my beliefs. He is particularly skeptical about gravity.

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2014 18:31

I belieeeeeve
Going to use this thread to peddle my theory that got me a telling off on anothef thread

  • a circle has infinite sides
  • so does an oval, but fewer infinite sides than the equivalent circle
  • it is monday
falaaalaaa · 10/03/2014 18:31

Maths - what's the point?

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2014 18:31

Yeah gravity is crap. Who believes that rubbish.

Orangeanddemons · 10/03/2014 18:31

I remember Physics...

I had cookery the lesson before. All my baked goods were consumed in this lesson. The boys used to lie in wait for me...
