Blush

Yes I am that thick. There's another one Blush and he's old and doesn't play keyboards.

Gia, did you ever chance to read the Ode To Brian Cox thread which is now in MN Classics?

I thought my efforts on that were extraordinary.

freddiemisagreatshag · 12/02/2013 21:59

I shall have to change my name. Blush

ProfessorMavisGrind · 12/02/2013 21:59

There is an element of "I AM CANADIAN" to it Grin

Ponders · 12/02/2013 22:00

still...

at least we weren't all ripping into the Prof like that squeaky Jon Ronson thread that had his missus after our guts

that one was really classic Grin

ProfessorMavisGrind · 12/02/2013 22:00

I'm watching a flooding program on Ch4 and the last line was (wait for it)

Things can only get wetter Grin Grin Grin

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 12/02/2013 22:00

What a brilliant thread Grin. I knew PBC was a real Professor and I knew there was an actor called Brian Cox. However I had no idea just how bloody funny it would be when someone didn't OP.

What's the betting Gia is off browsing MN now and will become an addicted regular Grin.

NotGeoffVader · 12/02/2013 22:01

I think I may actually start crying with laughter soon!

Love how Gia likes to be pervy! :)

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 12/02/2013 22:02

I heard that too Mavis. Nearly spat out my tea at the sheer hilarity.

FiercePanda · 12/02/2013 22:02

OP, behold! A handy guide just for you.

Brian Cox, Scottish Actor. He's been in Troy, Braveheart, The Ring, Frasier and Deadwood, amongst many other things.

Brian Cox, Professor, Keyboardist, Hair Model. Knows lots about particle physics. Educates the nation via the wonders of his Wonders programmes.

olgaga · 12/02/2013 22:03

I thought Anthony Hopkins was Hannibal Lecter?

Brian Cox the actor is nearly 70 years old! How could you get the two mixed up? Grin

foslady · 12/02/2013 22:03

OMG - best thread EVER! thank you so much for the laughs, the OMG's and most of all to you Giagia for the post that nearly made me drop my laptop!!!! Grin

And I never knew the D:Ream bit!!!!

TunipTheVegedude · 12/02/2013 22:03

Well, why would anyone rip into Prof Cox? That would be like kicking a puppy. (A very intelligent puppy who is good at making science understandable and communicating excitement about the mysteries of the universe.)

freddiemisagreatshag · 12/02/2013 22:04

Grin I didn't get them mixed up. I didn't know there was an acTOR called Brian Cox and I thought that was why they always made a point of calling MrGia "Professor"

Brian Cox was Hannibal Lector is Manhunter - 1986 film based on Red Dragon

redlac · 12/02/2013 22:07

In Manhunter not is Manhunter

GiaGia · 12/02/2013 22:08

LineRunner, I try not to read too much about him especially on forums. People are weird and talk about him like he's not a real person and, well, I don't really want to read that stuff. For example, I'd heard about the Jon Ronson thread (Jon and Elaine are good friends) and I completely understand her reaction. eg someone in this thread doesn't like Brian's teeth, another thinks he's had a lip job (really?!) another doesn't like his hair and all I think is 'Yea?! Go on, show me a photo of your husband and I'll happily pick him apart for you.' Wink

FiercePanda · 12/02/2013 22:09

Science is bloody brilliant though, isn't it? Seriously, between Prof Cox befriending a baby tiger and talking about carbon in Wonders and David Attenborough talking to a blind baby rhino (and the baby rhino responded!) in Africa last week I'm a huge gibbering mess of "THE UNIVERSE IS AMAZING, I LOVE ALL THE THINGS!" Although, my normal reaction when watching Wonders is something akin to this.

Ponders · 12/02/2013 22:09

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/a266632-omg-jon-ronson-s-speaking-voice\the Jon Ronson thread}

his wife posts under "heston" (no idea why. maybe she used to peel his potatoes)

freddiemisagreatshag · 12/02/2013 22:10

I don't know who Jon Ronson is either and I'm sooooo not going there Grin

OP posts:
LineRunner · 12/02/2013 22:10

Oh Gia, it was all good about Brian in the Odes. Grin

I've got the original D:Ream CD. £4, eh? I got a £20 royalty cheque for a textbook once. Paid for a massive pizza in a time of austerity!

OliviaMumsnet · 12/02/2013 22:11

GiaGia
Will your DH come on MN for a webchat?

olgaga · 12/02/2013 22:11

redlac I didn't know that - I loved that book. Not sure if I've seen the film!

FrillyMilly · 12/02/2013 22:11

I can understand not reading about him online and especially forums. As much as I know my DH does not appeal to everyone I would find it difficult to read criticism of him.

Now thanks to you I have a new found respect for Yoko Ono (and all invisible wives).

FiercePanda · 12/02/2013 22:11

Smooth, Olivia, real smooth. Wink
