If you haven't heard of the Frothers, let me introduce you to them.

We are a bunch of MNetters who are protesting against the cuts. We are not (all) lentil weaving, Guardian totting, Birkenstock wearing Lefties. There are some Lib Dem voters and even some Tories among our ranks.

If you are cross and the cuts and willing to write a blog post about the way in which these cuts will affect your life, please pop over to the Frothers blog and have a look.

Frothers

We are planning a 12 Days Of Xmas blog theme in the days after Xmas and need a blog post for every day until 12th night.

Interested? Sign in here and post on the Frothers Thread if you need more info.

Thanks.

Good work.

Glad to see that we have a good few writers for this. Anyone else?

garlicnutcracker · 22/12/2011 22:55

I don't half like Yummy's idea of 3 ghosts. Depends on whether you're a writerly type, I guess, there's so much that could be done with it.

yummymummyreally · 22/12/2011 23:25

So I started writing about the squeezed middle and ended up with a bit of a rant with no reference to ghosts at all! (that was Ava's idea by the way.. not mine! credit where credit's due!)

Will keep working on it in the am? what do I do with it once I'm happy(ish)?

PM MmeReindor, SK, me or Isla with your email address. We'll send you an invite.
Probably not me, actually. I need to try life without a laptop for a day or two Blush

yummymummyreally · 22/12/2011 23:53

Thanks!

AvadventKalendar · 23/12/2011 00:33

AM working on mine but finding it really difficult Blush I can't write like everyone else does ie coherently and smart!

garlicnutcracker · 23/12/2011 02:59

Just write it like a letter :) Or tell it like a children's story.

Would this be too political for a TMC/Frothers Christmas card? By Steve Bell, today's Guardian

... or yesterday's ... Have lost track of time ...

I've been picking up hints that my dark prophecy about the return of debtors' prison might have been true. As the govt's sailing very close to an illegal wind with workfare and quite a few other things, they may be holding it in reserve as another way to remove freedom from the (by then) starving masses. Shudder.

Anyway, I'm NOT going to look into it until after Christmas!

Yummy, I've asked my Tory, professional, squeezed sister if she'd consider posting as well. I don't know what she'll say but you middles need to make yourselves heard instead of muttering into your skinny lattes Xmas Wink

AvadventKalendar · 23/12/2011 03:17

Liking that GNC.

Wouldn't say it's too political at all, scarily accurate rather! I was trying to find some suitable stuff earlier, found a couple I posted on twitter earlier, think I #frothers-ed them.

MmeReindor · 23/12/2011 07:27

but you middles need to make yourselves heard instead of muttering into your skinny latte

Xmas Grin

That made me laugh.

Yummymummy
Will send invite. If you want to put what you have written into drafts, some of us can have a read and see if there is anything that you could change. If it really doensn't fit in with 12 days, then we can save it for afterwards. Don't feel you have to shoehorn it in.

IslaDoit · 23/12/2011 07:38

I suppose I'm in the squeezed middle but it's hard to tell because we've been single income for so long and I've had a savings cushion. It's run out now and I feel squeezed but I will have to separate circumstance from government policy causes.

I will include in my piece which will be a combination of Lib Dems who've let me down (nick, Vince, Sarah Tethers, Lynn Featherstone etc) and lib dem manifesto promises that disappeared into the ether.

yummymummyreally · 23/12/2011 08:32

Xmas Smile made me giggle! Shall I cut up my costa coffee card in protest?!
It's a good point though actually. It does feel like you can't speak up unless you're literally about to loose your house. Anyhow..child clambering on knee now..so will be back a bit later.... After the latte obviously!

MmeReindor · 23/12/2011 08:56

yy. We would be in the squeezed middle if we were to move back to UK. It is one of the reasons that we haven't tbh.

Living in London, with high rent or mortgage, high childcare, horrendous commuting costs. And lower pay than DH could earn in Germany.

garlicnutcracker · 24/12/2011 02:24

Xmas Day post:

All I've done is two lines of text, Steve Bell's cartoon and some falling stars :)

I abandoned my short satirical christmas story after two attempts; kept getting bogged down in vodka.

As my nod to Christmas this year, I made a ginger'n'orange spicy syrup that's tuned out my best ever and goes incredibly well with vodka & soda water! I'm just testing it, you understand ... Xmas Wink

Further xmassy contributions most welcome.

I haven't read the current drafts, but have to say I got very excited over the titles! Am looking forward to reading them.

yummymummyreally · 24/12/2011 10:51

Still not had an invite... Unless I am being silly and looking in the wrong place? So, I have finished a piece, just not sure how to get it to you?

It went off on a little tangent. It could be a comment on the labour party, but only it that if refers to their role in getting us here in the first place.

Only thing I can't decide on is title!

Let me know how to get it to you all folks?

Happy Christmas eve!
Wine

garlicnutcracker · 24/12/2011 12:13

If you're still around, Yummy, PM me your email address.

MmeReindor · 25/12/2011 08:58

Hi Yummymummy

just found time in the post present unpacking but pre dinner prep lull to read your post. It is really good, but doesn't really fit for the first day of Xmas. We can keep it for another day.

Or maybe if I add a bit to it?

MmeReindor · 25/12/2011 09:23

Right. I have added to it.

If no one objects, that will go live tomorrow for the FIRST DAY OF XMAS.

MmeReindor · 25/12/2011 09:30

Could do with something for 2 day.
