Hello All.

I keep finding myself wanting to have a general chin wag with the bloggers on here and instead of doing that I find myself barging onto threads, hi-jacking them and being generally a pain in the tubes.

So, if you want a chat about blogging, maybe some tips and helpful stuff about plug-ins, themes or maybe a chat about what your next blog could be about, or even something else then maybe we could use this thread? (I found myself getting engrossed about the sexiness of Stringer Bell on one blog thread this week - I'm so sorry )

Mme, are you on wordpress.org? I am on .com, I think it is different. Will have a look.

It is probably a .org versus .com issue.

I use a Plugin called Jetpack that installs a lot of the .com features but not that one yet.

OK, cannot do links on phone, but if you Google 'Onswipe for iPad .org', one of the first few hits should be the WP Onswipe Support page, and if you go to the bottom it says 'Onswipe has also made the plugin available for self-hosted WordPress.org sites' with a link. Or alternatively, I think there's also a link at the head of the page over to the right of the main text column.

Oh I don't know stitchthis! I think maybe there is a swipe thing regardless, but it's just a default version of your regular blog. I have never used an iPad though so I'm not sure.

With the Onswipe thing you get to specify a "cover" image and logo image especially for iPad users to give it a special look, but I'm not entirely sure what exactly happens with those. You have to upload them, though.

Only because it's a pic of an amazing view I'm looking at now...

I can't go look! No iPad ... but I was in HMV today and checked mine then, and none of the images were showing up on the swipe screen, cover or anywhere else. Bah.

I don't understand DM. This plugin or whatever is suppose to optimize your site for iPad, is that it?

I cannot understand why it has to be PNG. It's not a very common file format, being, relatively speaking, new. Most sites are in JPG and, so far as I know, JPG is perfectly readable by iPad!

Maybe because it needs to be transparent? I am just speculating, not sure what the transparency actually, er, does.

It would help if I had an iPad handy to play around with it and see what happends when I upload different things. That, however, is not really sufficient justification to spend £500

I've skim-read back. DH has an ipad - I don't like how my site looks on it - the theme goes completely, and it's no longer 'my site' IYSWIM. #thatsallihavetosayontheipadmatter

DM transparency is exactly what it sounds like. The image is transparent or partially transparent! I have no idea why this plugin or whatever it is would require it but I know nothing about iPads.

I have moved my blog to wordpress for no reason at all. I blame MmeLindor.

Have got the first two blog posts written for next week already! Want to get Friday's done this evening too, if possible, so I can concentrate on writing my novel in my evenings this week :)

You all take it all much more seriously than me. If I feel like writing something I write it and stick it on. If I don't, I don't. None of this scheduling and planning.

I don't plan posts. I may have an idea in my head but it gets done when I feel like it.

Ah, but my blog is not just a journal. I've flipping told the world I'll be posting on such and such a day, so now I've got to do it!

My more personal blog, which, if you DM me on twitter, I will grant you access to (it's not secret :D) is written as and when. But it ain't about parenting in the slightest, and I'm not bothered who reads it, so no need to have it on here or anything like that :)
