CHLOGGING (Chat+Blogging)

Hello All.

I keep finding myself wanting to have a general chin wag with the bloggers on here and instead of doing that I find myself barging onto threads, hi-jacking them and being generally a pain in the tubes.

So, if you want a chat about blogging, maybe some tips and helpful stuff about plug-ins, themes or maybe a chat about what your next blog could be about, or even something else then maybe we could use this thread? (I found myself getting engrossed about the sexiness of Stringer Bell on one blog thread this week - I'm so sorry )

so do you all know how many hits your individual posts get? where is that? i have never even looked.

Are you on blogger, Aitch? Or WP?

I have just installed a statistic widget thing - actually for use with the popular posts widget so can see which posts are most popular. It is quite good to know.

Or you can sign up with Google Analytics which gives detailed statistics, including where the reader came from, what posts were looked at, how many new viewers, what they searched for on google to find your blog. I find it quite fascinating, to see what the search terms were.

i do have google analytics but i can't think that i have ever gone into it in that much detail. i am hosted somewhere or other by someone or other but do use WP if that makes sense? (doesn't to me, tbh, i just type and nod).

i dont kjnow how to embed the mn badge thingy on wordpress - but then i am drunk - but even so i dont think i would know if i was sober tbh - ANy clues?

have you given up smoking, custy? bloody well done. what's your blog btw, i could REALLLLLY do with getting back on the low-carb thing. i absolutely loved it last year but fell off the wagon and somehow can't motivate myself again. which is weird because i know i felt absolutely fantastic.

You have to add a text widget, I think. I managed it but cannot remember how I did it.

Oh God, all the marketing malarky is a bit of an eye opener to me. I struggle to remember to tweet my blog posts let alone anything else! Hadn't even occurred to me to do a special post for Monday - this is why I can only dream of 100 hits in a day .....

thanks for blog and good news re fags, custy. don't know if this will help but i found i missed the footery lighter business and the enforced break and the smoke, so i spent what i saved on really nice japanese incense from space nk and that took care of all those needs, iykwim? a coffee and a fag became a coffee and lighting some incense. easier in the house, obv, than at work.

Monday is the official launch of the Bloggers Network. Did you get an email from MN?

i must sign up for that, haven't yet, looked at the page and clicked off. am highly form-averse...

I noticed that there is a "latest posts" bit on the new network page. Wonder if MNHQ will have to add new posts manually or if they will go on automatically when we post.

Argh. Had a look at the bloggers network and they have linked to my old blog. Argh.

Hurrah. It was a bit fiddly.

Up there ^^ where it says blogs, hover over it and you can see "Bloggers Network". click on that.

I have reported my post to MNHQ to ask them to change the link. Not sure how it happened, perhaps I signed up while I was still on old blog and forgot to tell them the new url.

Network page looks good. I wonder when they'll get our avatars up.

They will be automatic, I would think MMeL. There are two many for it to be a manual process!

I realise why my newest post is not on there. They are linking to my old blog, where there have been no new posts for ages. I have posted a link to new blog so that it will at least appear on the list.

Well this is all very interesting. I've been poorly and today is my first look at the network (and getting the badge on)

I posted this morning and got a comment straightaway (thanks DM) and I was interested to note that the page updated on MN as well (do you know what I mean?)

Which gives it an up on British Mum's or whatever they are calling themselves now. At least when I joined, you had to copy and paste your post to their boards to get it on there. This is much better.

Actually I was trying to figure out why the I copied and pasted from a post here to my blog actually worked! And I figured it out! It's a secret though....

I spent HOURS last night doing a post about a daytrip to France. I've read it again this morning and it's all over the bloody place.

I'm having the same trouble with a post I'm working on!
