Time for a new specialism, methinks!

Smile fame for one of our number at last, although we seem to be fairly notorious around here this week anyway Hmm.

Righto - off for a dip. Will no doubt be back later.

Have plot outlined 7 chapters of Sparkhouse:The Sequel in the last half hour - just need to find time to write them up now.

And Maud - you'll be pleased to hear that the lovely John Standring is still fully boiler-suited Wink!

SupermassiveLBD · 27/02/2011 21:56

O frabjous day, calloo callay! Wine
Ye dreaded Space Invaders have blasted off back to their own foul lair planet, and Maudie is back in town!!

? I'd seen that thread in which this was accused of being an obsessive and scarey cult.

Nice to be acknowledged for our unique contribution to the annals of MN

So you have seen the latest pap shot of me and Gizzy, at the armour shop, trying on a replacement for the BBT set.

Gad, Spiro you are a speedwriter, it would take me six months to get that far.

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:05

How lovely to see you again Maud, how anyone can think we're scary is beyond me so I have generally ignored it. Tis all a nonsense, think it's just thread name envy Grin.

Anyone watch Being Human? Aidan had short hair in the opening scene (Paris 1833) and looked rather dashing I must say. He really does have the bad boy appeal.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 22:06

I'm surprised you didn't threaten to run them through with Gizzy's vast sword, Massive, although I noticed that someone said we were funny and not scary (or words to that effect). And yes, I was enjoying a quiet mooch in Waterstone's when I came across that intimate shot of you and Gizzy in the Nottamum branch of Ye Very Hyghe and Exceedinge Mightye, trying on the latest fashions in armour.

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:10

a welcome back present to remind you of what you were missing.

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:12

although this is nicer I think

SupermassiveLBD · 27/02/2011 22:19

As you can see, Gizzy does let me have a go with his sword now and then, Maud, but I reckoned after all the time I had spent polishing it that morning I didn't want it all over blood and guts.

So I restrained myself.

TBH I don't care what they say about us, we know it's not true, don't we?

Meanwhile, hi to everyone's favourite dwarf, as posted by Small. I hope you didn't mind me peeking underr the wrapping...

DumSpiroSpero · 27/02/2011 22:20

Both very lovely indeed SmallPrint.

I still can't believe quite how much I fancy him with the beard.

Facial hair has never been on my radar before...

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:20

No t'was a present for all really Massive. I just noticed we were nearing the end of our thread and thought I would pop in a reminder about the faculty studies this term.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 22:21

And thank you for those gifts. I think I prefer the first Do you still have your rellies staying with you?

Y'know, I think these threads have actually covered a good many MN topics and cater for a diversity of all tastes. Viz

Feminism Can one be a feminist and yet condone Gizzy's unreconstructed attitude towards women?

AIBU to be swooning over an 180 year-old Northern industrialist?

Parenting Is it appropriate to make dd watch N&S for the 5th time, ostensibly to help with her topic on the Victorians?

Style and beauty Are cravats still de rigueur for the modish man of business?

PassTheTwiglets · 27/02/2011 22:21

Hello Maud! So good to have you back, however long for. Did you see the steampunk jewellery I linked to? There are some N&S ones you will love...

Small, you are good to ignore the nonsense - I am terrible for having my hackles raised and answering back at that sort of thing. It took every ounce of my being to not respond. The thing that reeeeeally irritated me was that we were called rude, when it was the interlopers who were rude! Anyway, let it go, let it go, let it go...

Spiro, er, so how does one actually write a story then? Do you always plot outline first?

Anne Hathaway is presenting the Oscars?! Isn't she a little vanilla for that? We will have to download it next week - getting up at 0530 tomorrow morning so can't do a late night.

I watched the first 2 episodes of Being Human ages ago and did enjoy it but I didn't watch any more than that.

A conversation suggestion for Massive: "MrMassive, could you check on the cat/dog/hamster/pet of choice? I'm not sure it's normal for them to foam at the mouth like that..."

So, we are off tomorrow morning and will be back late Friday night. I may be around, internet costs and general Disney exhaustion depending. Will see you on a new thread, no doubt - Small, you're going to do a JP one for us, yes? See you all soon - hope you have a fabulous week!!
xx

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:21

So no-one doing the Oscars? No-one watched Being Human?

DumSpiroSpero · 27/02/2011 22:25

Massive it's only outlines - about 3 handwritten pages with large margins. I hope no-one's expecting this one to be of the ilk of some (ok, most Grin) of my previous efforts, because it is taking me ages to get the pair of them 'together' - which tbh, I think is exactly how it should be for them.

Wonder if the Beeb would be interested in another 3 parter? Hmm

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:25

Oh weather forecast says sleet here - oh joy.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/02/2011 22:27

Obviously not me Small, it's miserable being on the Island sometimes. Do you know, they will show the Oscars but they will talk over it in Islandish so I can't hear the proper soundtrack. Plus given our time difference it won't be silly o'clock it's on at, it'll be half past downright suicidal.

Twiggy, bon voyage and enjoy yourself hugely at le Disney. and say hello to Mickey from me.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 22:28

I always forget to watch Being Human now, although we watched all of the first series. Having dutifully sat through the Baftas I'm not doing the Oscars (plus telly is on the blink again, so stand by for very serious SMFV action).

And, confession time. I still haven't listened to Venetia beyond the first disc. I'm going to be rusticated from the university, aren't I?

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:29

Blimey Twigs that was a long one - did you pause for breath?! Grin Have a lovely trip, I wish I could see the DCs faces when they discover where you are off too. Smile

No, I am not quick witted enough to come up with quality thread titles but I think Spiro had a JP one lined up?

Maud you are quite correct in your assesment of topics covered, in fact I believe with a bit of cataloguing work we would discover many more areas of debate which would happily sit in the general MN forums.

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:31

I think we need to do some fund raising to get Maud a new moving picture box. I have £3.57 in my purse but it's all yours Maud, we cannot have this situation continue any longer.

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:33

Nah, you're OK Maud.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/02/2011 22:33

Spiro, deffo a long drawn out plot line is far more delicious, the anticipation and mental egging-on is part of the fun. Why don't you try sending the Beeb a 'treatment' ? as I think the poncey term is for three pages with large margins.

Maud, I like your thinking, this 'ere one of ours is definitely a thread for all reasons

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:33

ahhh laptop is dying.....

DumSpiroSpero · 27/02/2011 22:34

I will be couch camping tonight to catch the Oscars, although how much I'll be awake for remains to be seen. I haven't got round to seeing any of the films yet, but have to confess I am just as interested in the frocks & gossip.

Twigs - have a brilliant time chez Walt! Can't wait to hear about your dd's reaction to her surprise.

Re stories - I didn't outline the other stuff I've written on here, but this is a bit different. It will be a 'proper' story, picking up from the last scene of the programme itself, and considerably longer rotfl needs a bit more of an organised approach.

Love your MN topic list Maud! Grin

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 22:36

Ah yes, bon voyage a la famille Twig!

And, while I think of it,

Employment I am thinking of starting a new career in national security but am aware that most employees expire within a year or so. Should I be concerned?

Cooking Does anyone have a good recipe for hotpot?

Can someone explain this steampunk thing for me? What does it mean, beyond looking as if one has strayed off the set of a Tim Burton film?

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:36

btw, rellies all gone now which means I can return to my slattern status again

TheSmallPrint · 27/02/2011 22:37

steampunk? Confused
