Time for a new specialism, methinks!

I have to make a confession. Just as I was about to invite Mr Thornton into the parlour, I was distracted by Mr Darcy. Mark Darcy. So I am watching Bridget Jones' Diary.

::seeks absolution for this sin::

SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 19:14

An understandable and pardonable lapse. A mere bagatelle compared with what I did last night.

Did you realise Colin Firth's brother is an ack-tor too? I didn't.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 19:29

I will return to Mr Thornton at a more opportune moment. You can trust me on that.

What did you do? Ah, yes. Giving full rein to your unconscious desires although actually I thought your unconscious desires were far ruder than that.

I think I used to know about Jonathan Firth, if you see what I mean.

SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 19:37

although actually I thought your unconscious desires were far ruder

Obviously not, in that particular direction. Which is rather a comfort I suppose.

Bridget Jones, yet another DVD I just have to get. Was the sequel any good?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 19:50

Yes, it must be. I was thinking more of your, erm, predilection for our Seigneur Gisborne.

We've just has the nice boys don't kiss like that line. I dodn't think I've ever seen the sequel, but it's here in the box set (loaned by a friend) so perhaps I will.

Comment ca va a l'ile tropicale?

DumSpiroSpero · 20/02/2011 19:57

The sequel is surprisingly good. This scene always makes me laugh...

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 20:02

Seigneur Gisborne hasn't had the guts to show up in one of my dreams for quite some time. Maybe a wise move.

Ca va assez bien, ici Mais il y a encore beaucoup de football.

Are the same actors in the Bridget Jones sequel?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 20:04

The link hasn't worked, Spiro, but maybe GardenGirl and I will watch the sequel during half term. Or is it too saucy for one so young (her) or one so old (me)?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 20:09

Toujours du football, Massive? Zut alors! Je propose .

SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 20:15

Oh la la, ca c'est un peu trop distracting. I must save it for after, or the assembled fans will swallow their vuvuzelas when they see the look on my face.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 20:17

Whoops.

::Doesn't want to be responsible for the SuperBoys choking on their vuvuzelas::

SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 20:23

In RL of course they have been confiscated long since. The temptation to ram them down their throats was very powerful at times, so in order not to risk arrest for child cruelty, they mysteriously disppeared.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 20:25

Ah yes, the toys that mysteriously disappear. Much like the noisy toys whose batteries run out and somehow you never have the right ones in the cupboard to replace them. Oh, that's just me then.

SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 20:46

Twitter is now giving us links to the local rag in Gisborne, NZ. I presume it's just for the novelty value, and we are not expected actually to read it.

DumSpiroSpero · 20/02/2011 20:53

Is that what it is, Massive? I thought it was something fact to do with Gizzy so hadn't looked.

I had a vuvuzela app on my phone (along with a virtual whoopee cushion at one point) - entertaining for DD but now thankfully deleted.

Was just reading some online sleb gossip and it got me thinking - if you could choose anyone to play you in a film, who would you pick?

I'd like Reese Witherspoon, but if I'm being realistic maybe Kathy Burke would be nearer the mark Grin

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 20/02/2011 20:54

Hello all!!!

SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 21:02

Hello Phoenix!

Spiro, I checked just to be sure as I thought I ought to take one for the team.

Who would play me in Movie? They couldn't get anybody too famous as it would be sure to bomb!
But maybe Cate Blanchett.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 21:06

Well, in One Child Tea Room: The Movie I'm going to be played by Dame Judi Dench, once they've added some prosthetic wrinkles.

. Did you hear her on Desert Island Discs?
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 21:08
DumSpiroSpero · 20/02/2011 21:11

No - I do like her though. Have you seen her in This Years Love? The bit where she spends the night with Dougray Scott and turns round to him the following morning & says "You pulled a fat bird, it's alright, I'll get my coat..." - brilliant!

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 21:14

Maybe La Burke would do my movie after she's finished yours, Spiro.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/02/2011 21:19

I haven't seen This Year's Love. I think it came too late for me - I had already done ThirtySomething, This Life and all the other explorations of thirty-something angst. Although I am aware ::cough:: of the cast list.

SupermassiveLBD · 20/02/2011 21:35

Now there's a role to write home about!

DumSpiroSpero · 20/02/2011 21:36

He's only it for about 90 seconds. It's quite different from the above I would imagine as the character are quite eccentric, although must admit I didn't watch either of those programmes.

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 20/02/2011 22:02

Evening all, been a busy old day in the Small household.

Love the Porter fashion, shame it wasn't our Porter on there.

Spiro where have your nails gone? I went on your profile to see.

Anybody watch RH on Watch this morning? It was the gambling one with 'fetch'.
