... how long could you survive with what you have in your house right now?

Do you have any tins/bottled water etc put away in case of a emergency?

Have been frealing myself out reading some wacky conspiray sites (all baging on about something huge happeneing in the next 2 weeks) - Im not be;lieveing it, but it has made me think that one day there could be an event and I probably would only last a week with my store cupboard!

Aunt Jemima Buttermilk Complete Pancake/Waffle Mix
5 oz. Can Vienna Sausage
15.5 oz. Can Sloppy Joe Mix
32 oz. Box Velvetta Brand Cheese (short shelf life)
36 oz. Bottle Log Cabin Syrup
3 lb. Can Crisco Shortening

Not forgotten Thingumy Confused Is a very long list!

Thingumy · 04/11/2010 22:14

DON'T FORGET:

  1. It takes a lot of space to store a one-year supply of food.
  2. It will take a significant amount of time and effort to move all the food between locations.
  3. The food should not be located where it may be accidentally discovered by anyone.
  4. Absolutely no one, except your spouse, should know about your emergency food reserves.
  5. The above recommended foods need to be stored in a temperature controlled environment for a
variety of reasons.
  1. If a disaster unfolds rapidly and unexpectedly, you will need to be able to get to your food without
drawing attention to your family.

I have a basement. It is quite big and should accommodate the MNBussers if needed. Although we would be better taking over my parents house tbh...

Thingumy · 04/11/2010 22:22

your folks place it is then sarah

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 22:25

Cool. When it all kicks off I will start a thread and encode their postcode into it. You'll recognise it when you get there as Big Horse will be pulling faces over the gate.

Thingumy · 04/11/2010 22:29

cool.

You'll know me,I'll be bringing the 24 cans of spam

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 22:32

Grin who's bringing the booze?

Thingumy · 04/11/2010 22:36

dh has brewed up some sloe gin-I could pinch that for starters...

We need a alcoholic to join our 'zombie crew',they will always source it out.

mitochondria · 04/11/2010 22:36

Isle of Wight is the traditional destination in these situations. Once you've cleared the island you're protected. Also good for growing garlic in case of vampires, and if you're bored you can go to Blackgang Chine.

I don't think you need to stockpile all this stuff.
What you need is a big gun, so you can go and steal the carefully stockpiled hoards of others.

Can you buy miniguns on Amazon?

Thingumy · 04/11/2010 22:39

Blackgang chine?

offers herself up to the zombies so she doesn't have to go...

Hassled · 04/11/2010 22:43

We have an extensive collection of Nerf Guns. That would do the job.

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 22:43

I don't want to go to the IOW either. I have vivid, and bad, memories of a school trip there.

I don't do boats.

Guacamole · 04/11/2010 22:57

I've just cleaned out all of my kitchen cupboards... So barely a week! Should I go and get the bin bags back out of the bin in preparation?

Guacamole · 04/11/2010 22:59

Ooohhh but I do have loads if leftover Halloween sweeties!

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 23:03

You have all day tomorrow to restock, I wouldn't bother :)

BeenBeta · 04/11/2010 23:07

Hassled - pickled horse? Bleuuurgh!!

Are you are in fact Damian Hurst?

I suggest instead we could turn a horse into 'corned horse' with salt in big steel drums. Amundsen went to Antarctic with whale meat in steel barrels. Opened them with an axe.

Despite my earlier forgetting we had a well in our house I can divine water which might come in handy.

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 23:12

You leave my horse out of this thread. He is already earmarked for anti zombie work and looting and pillaging.

Guacamole · 04/11/2010 23:15

Sorry I've only managed to read up to page 6 of this thread, just to make sure I understand correctly...
We are going to be invaded by Aliens because Barack Obama is going to India, the Aliens will turn us into Zombies and then the World's financial system will collapse because Zombies can't use money... Is that pretty much it?

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 23:17

No you forgot the green light, pandemics, Yellowstone, Polar shifts, terrorists and general Armageddonish behaviour

Guacamole · 04/11/2010 23:20

I'd better sort out an Ocado delivery then!

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 04/11/2010 23:24

I'm constructing a spreadsheet of who has what and where they live, because we do have guns.Mwah ha ha.Grin

BeenBeta · 04/11/2010 23:48

This is fast turning into Mad Max IV.
