Mrs LN, a little present for you.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 02/11/2010 23:45

Theresahole - perhaps you weren't here when I posted this . As I've said, I dislike a lot of the Guy vids because the music is so naff, but this I like.

Yes, he says on the dvd extras that he read the book. As he jolly well should. You're right, though; even though they took frightful liberties with Mrs G's dialogue, the mood and character is spot-on. Funnily enough, I've been deliberating for the last week about whether I should sign up to do a PhD or whether (as is likely the case) that would be insanity. I doubt, though, that I could work North and South into it, however ingenious I tried to be, so perhaps just a Learned Essay on the science and art of adapting books for tv with particular reference to N&S? I do intend to reread the book to check whether (as I believe) that whole absurd Great Exhibition scene was a complete fabrication. A scene I love in the dvd is the one near the end with Higgins, where Higgins mentions her brother in Spain and the penny finally drops that Margaret has not got Another Suitor. The look of happiness spreading across Mr Thornton's face is in itself a joy to behold (although not as much as his beaming happiness at the very end, where they are Reunited and Kissing and she wordlessly announces that she is Coming Home With Him).

DH has just gone to bed, leaving me (as he puts it) to ogle Mr Armitage. I may perchance do a little light YTing and then I shall pursue him again with the Penguin North and South.

MrsLucasNorth · 02/11/2010 23:47

Theresa thank you v. much!

Lucas is definitely my fave incarnation, even if he has gone bad, he's still soooo good!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 02/11/2010 23:56

''The look of happiness spreading across Mr Thornton's face is in itself a joy to behold''

It's that little smile he does every so often that steals my heart. So delicately judged --a small movement of the muscles that does so much.

Mrs LN, I do agree that Lucas is seriously alluring, and we do like bad after all. The more I watch Spooks, the bigger dilemma I am in. Lucas or whoever he is, or Guy? How do I choose?

And Flowers Northern Gentleman is pretty damn fine too.

MrsLucasNorth · 02/11/2010 23:57

First installment of

A Day in the Life of Guy Thornton-North

A sliver of early morning light filtered through the curtains, illuminating the lightly stubbled jaw of Guy Thornton-North. Stirring, he groaned huskily and stretched his long limbs underneath the duvet like a particularly fine breed of cat.

He threw off the covers and strode to the shower. Flicking on the hot water, he pulled his t-shirt over his head, slipped out of his boxers and stepped into the cubicle. The Prada shower gel was cold as he smoothed it to his warm, wet skin and soon Guy was feeling considerably more awake than he had been just a few minutes earlier.

Steam was still rising from Guy?s finely muscled torso as he wrapped a fluffy towel around his waist and headed to the wardrobe. He pondered for a minute before selecting a soft, white shirt and perfectly fitting dark blue jeans. He threw on a rugged black jacket and headed out the door to the street below, where his gunmetal grey Mercedes convertible was waiting for him?

Night, night Ladies! Wink

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 02/11/2010 23:58

There is some , including the one at the very end which is simultaneously cheesetastic and !

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 03/11/2010 00:01

Apart from Obsession, this is my favourite song about obsession.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/11/2010 00:10

''Steam was still rising from Guy?s finely muscled torso ''

It's not the only thing it's rising from at this moment. That and the vids will keep me awake half the night, thrutching. Grin

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 03/11/2010 00:12

I say, MrsLN. There will be steam rising from more than Guy's finely muscled torso if you carry on writing in that vein! Don't you think he should be wearing a cravat with that fine white shirt, though?

Theresa - You are so right about the finesse with which he portrays mood through tiny facial movements. The heartbreak of the is the way in which (it seems to me) he goes from willing her to look back, to hoping that she will, to realising that she won't. The look of devastation on his face.

Right, off to bed with dh and Mr Thornton.

MrsLucasNorth · 03/11/2010 00:12

Grin Wink

Theresaholeinyourmind · 03/11/2010 00:22

Snap, Flowers!

Goodnight all

MrsLucasNorth · 03/11/2010 00:36

So, ladies,

...if you don't mind potentially outing yourselves a bit, can you post what part of the world/country you are in, and a brief description of yourself, so that I can work you into the plot of ADITLOGTN - share and share alike and all that!!! Grin

Fettle · 03/11/2010 07:48

Ditto that LeQueen, once again I have shoved DS in front of the TV so that I can catch upon some of these vids Blush My oh my, why did nobody warn there was a 'wearing glasses' scene?! Are there no Lucas vids around - I've not yet seen N&S (hello, Father Xmas!) and am trying to avoid spoilers so not watching those vids yet - but I can't imagine him being more gorge than Lucas.

Now, off to delete browsing history before dh comes home and realises why the hosuework hasn't been done :o

Boden - I can't do a link as I'm at work and can't access YouTube, but if you go on there and do a search for 'Lucas North Assassin' there is a fabulous compilation vid of his relationship with Sarah Caulfield in Series 8 of Spooks!

Well ladies, just got back from being a laydee wot lunches and the talk got round to men as always.:)

Naturally I thought it my duty to initiate them into the delights of a Real Man, since he's not known here.

''Who's that?''
''You know, the bad one in RH'' I said

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!!
was the general reaction. So they'd noticed then Grin

Mrs LN, I am waiting for your next chapter. You can put me in as Our Hero's treasured charlady if you like.

A humble suggestion for one of my lines:
''Can I do you now, sir?''

Bodenbabe · 03/11/2010 14:00

Oooooh, MrsLN that was lovely...

Have spent most of lunchtime looking at Lucas North youtube videos and enquiring minds need to know what series the scene with a shirtless Lucas having water poured all over him is from (purely because the lighting and editing in that scene is so marvellous, you understand). This current series is the only one I've seen of Spooks (can't believe how long it took mew to discover it!) and whilst I'm trying to go through them chronologically, I'm thinking I need to watch Wet Lucas NOW :)
