I did wonder if perhaps my innocent eyes didn't really want to know how you find out about sucking golf balls through pipes!!

On a less comical note - I stumbled across a couple of pictures of the man himself the other day with the alleged former live-in girlfriend

I think I've seen them Mrs LN. It mustn't have been an easy job for her. I know us lot are nuts, but it's a gentle affectionate nuts, or so I like to think. Some of the stuff I've seen on the interweb is a little scary.

But why does it matter, MrsLN?

If, as we surely do, we value him for his Talent and his Craft and the immortal power of his Acting then none of the stuff about his bald spot or his private life really matters, does it? As I said before, I take it on trust that he does not spend his free time torturing kittens, but as he has taken the eminently sensible decision not to lay bare his private life in the pages of Hello, it feels a bit mean gossiping and speculating about things which he elects not to share, especially as we have the shelter of anonymity.

I saw those pictures too. I took comfort in the fact she looked nice and normal!!

Speak for yourself Smallbunch, I value him for all those things too, but his ability to produce 'The Look' at any given moment (and handle Russian hookers) is also a factor in my affections....

Perhaps it's an age thing, LeQueen. At my advanced age, I'd be happiest sharing a cup of tea with the gorgeous but equally ancient Mr Thornton. I could balance the Spode tea cup (and plate of ratafia biscuits) on the edge of my bath chair. Although, as discussed earlier, things might get a bit saucier once we'd sampled some of Theresaholeinyourmind's Polish Cordial.

Seriously though - I do like the bit when he's in the back of the car (in Lucas mode) near the beginning - that face....makes me think of him doing a little more than just sitting on the back seat [filthy mind emoticon!}

Flowers, I was musing on your lovely N&S Thornton -orientated extracts while doing the dusting and found myself remembering I'd heard/seen RA saying he'd read the book prior to filming.

I can quite believe he did, comparing the Gaskell text and his performance. It is uncannily alike. Perhaps we should do a learned dissertation on the subject. It will involve much exhausting scrutinizing both of texts and DVD but could no doubt be undertaken by some noble and selfless soul in the interests of Science.

Why is no one talking about Guy tonight? I miss him
