Do you feel guilty about the effects of the drug trade like county lines etc?

Does it bother you that the drugs you buy are likely to have been produced or distributed due to abusive child labour?

Don’t you feel guilty about fuelling the human misery of drug dealing organised crime, money laundering, modern slavery, etc??

"recreational drug" is a very broad umbrella OP! Can you be more specific?

And do you use them recreationally? I experimented quite a bit with psychedelics in my 40s, but wouldn't exactly call it recreational use.

I am aware of the exploitation that comes from the drug industry and of course feel bad for contributing to the demand. It’s not that I don’t care or that I accept it, I’ll hold my hands up and say I am of course at fault at the fact I still do it.

It’s not a requirement but I’m sure it is probably in a policy somewhere that if I was suspected I’d have to.

Which drugs?

I mean, there are drugs that are fairly harmless or even beneficial in themselves, and can be sourced ethically - like weed or mushies - and then there are drugs that can't be sourced ethically and generally turn users into pricks - such as methamphetamine, or cocaine - as well as drugs that are just straight dangerous - like heroin.

So you'll have to be more specific!

How on earth do you know where to get it from? Presumably you can't just google your local coke dealer?!

I used to use mdma a lot but not anymore. Funnily enough the time I used mdma I was unemployed so those lengthy comedowns didn’t affect any responsibilities

Coke and to answer what I consider recreationally about once a week, sometimes there is a fortnight between use.

Do you get it delivered by your dealer or do you do a deal on a street corner?

When I first started, it was offered I didn’t buy it. Then when I started buying it I got from the person who supplied to the person who gave it to me. Over time other people who do it pass along their dealers and eventually you know quite a few

When you say that you're aware of the exploitation, is it just a case of seeing headlines and knowing of the exploitation as an abstract fact or do you have real understanding of the suffering caused by the choices of you, and people like you?

Have you read or listened to accounts of parents whose children have been groomed by county lines gangs and are then terrorised and unable to escape?

Have you read accounts of people living in towns or villages controlled by drug cartels?

If you have never read beyond the headlines then you need to educate yourself about the suffering that some people endure so that others can get off their faces for a few hours.

If you are fully aware but just don't give a fuck then I think that makes you a pretty shitty person.

The difference is that if it’s delivered it’s from someone I know already and know what it’s like. A dealer on the street could be selling you absolutely anything.
