As the title says!

You sound very nice, but I don’t think you’ll find many GCSE and A Level students here to help. Average age is probably about 45.

Thank you. 🙂

I suppose I wouldn't mind helping parents who might be a bit confused as well. You can tell me if that's a good idea or not. 😆

Oh dear. Cringing for you, OP.

Should I bother asking why? 🙂

That’s not a bad idea, but your best bet for that is to hang around on the education boards and wait for some threads to pop up where you might be able to give useful advice 🙂

I expected fun, light-hearted questions. I got some... but clearly light-heartedness isn't the AMA section's strongest quality. 😂

My bad!

As you've found, it isn't.
I wouldn't jump into a conversation without getting a feel of the general vibe.
It's the same online - if you decide you're going to start posting on a particular part of a discussion site, maybe look at some threads to get a feel of them?
I'm still not sure why you leapt onto MN AMA. Me, I checked it out and started on Chat iirc.

Believe it or not, I thought it would be a way to get a feel of the general vibe... 😆

What can you do with a chicken?

BlakeCarrington · 22/11/2025 23:13

Hahaha, bad luck @5hy133n, I’m afraid you are discovering one of the fundamental truths of MN - no matter how innocent or well meaning and innocuous the OP, dozens of aggy posters will pile in, criticise and try to show you up. It’s so typical it makes me cringe.

Don’t be put off by them though, there are also loads of funny, clever and nice people on here, you just need to learn to laugh at the nutcases.

Anyway, my question to you is how are you finding your early experiences of posting on MN, and will you persevere despite all the mardy arses on this thread? 😄

BlakeCarrington · 22/11/2025 23:16

PuppyMonkey · 22/11/2025 22:54

Oh dear. Cringing for you, OP.

Oh dear, cringing for you @PuppyMonkey - absolutely no need.

CrackSpackle · 22/11/2025 23:19

Here’s question OP: do you have an Instagram account full of nothing but selfies?

I didn’t realise we all had to apply for your approval on thread suitability @LaMarschallin - is there a particular email we should use to run it past you before posting?

Talk about delusions of grandeur 😁

Doesn't like salad? MN is not prepared for this outcome.

Madam, MN is prepared for any outcome.

As this thread demonstrates

Tryingatleast · 22/11/2025 23:26

Why is the first reply always mean? (Welcome!)

3hairspastfreckle · 22/11/2025 23:32

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats to be fair you could be grumpy because you have cats even though you prefer dogs

Funnywonder · 22/11/2025 23:33

Welcome OP. It’s like the Wild West on here sometimes, but there’s some great craic and good advice too. Ignore the meanies. There are a couple of threads running at the minute about how many absolute arseholes inhabit the site these days. They have been noticed. Don’t let them put you off.

3hairspastfreckle · 22/11/2025 23:35

@5hy133n if you had to choose one breakfast to have for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 22/11/2025 23:36

Fair challenge. 🤣
Actually though I think I'd be even grumpier without the cats.

It worked then 🤣🤣🤣.
Welcome to MN.

Might I suggest you find a different outlet for you bitterness @cinnamontroll… it’s really boring reading about it all the time on here.

That's a horrible comment.

BlakeCarrington · 23/11/2025 00:52

Agree, @cinnamontroll appears to be a mardy pain in the arse, best ignored I reckon.

BlakeCarrington · 23/11/2025 00:55

It’s the bullies that spoil this lovely site imo, those I have referenced in my previous posts being the putrid examples.

Welcome OP, don’t let the losers put you off, it’s good here.

StrangerOnline · 23/11/2025 00:59

7catsisnotenough · 22/11/2025 22:49

What are your thoughts on elderly Korean ladies staying in your Mexican holiday home and leaving their penis beakers on your bedside tables?

I chuckled at this… tell me you’ve been here a long time, without saying you’ve been here a long time… (and especially mixing all 3 stories!)

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 23/11/2025 01:09

Welcome to MN, OP.

People here can be a little, er...blunt. And you need to be prepared for just about anything you post to get picked apart. But there is a lot of good stuff here too.

I recommend that you check out the various education threads - some of them are quite busy.
