Fast weight loss

That’s incredibly risky. Is it supervised by a doctor?

GeorgeSalad · 13/08/2025 17:57

DiscoBob · 13/08/2025 17:45

What did you eat daily before your diet? ( Breakfast, lunch, dinner etc)

And what does your daily diet look like now?

How much weight have you lost so far?

Thank you! X

As I’m only on 1000 calories a day as you can imagine - my daily diet is restricted - often a sandwich, latte and little else!

Do you think fast weight loss is best or sustainable weight loss?

Im on 1400-1700 calories a day depending on whether at the gym or not and that’s led to a steady 1lb per week loss, but interested to know if less calories is sustainable in the long run.

Liliwen · 13/08/2025 17:59

Why don’t you want to try weight loss injections if other methods of losing weight and keeping it off haven’t worked?

Because I’m changing my mindset and conventional weight loss methods have worked for me in the past

Fast calories certainly gets quick results initially then you can gradually increase cals later on in the diet - so ‘sustainable’ in that sense yes

In the past I’ve felt better on a calorie controlled diet and exercise program where I’ve lost weight

Calorie controlled v ultra low calorie are two different things. At the end of the day it’s your body and your choice, but I can’t see how this is safe!

I know what you’re saying but I thought to be on an ‘ultra’ low calorie diet you needed to eat around 500 cals a day ?

It’s technically 800 or lower but 1000 and under is incredibly low.

Surely it would be better to eat lean meat and loads of veg, you'd get bigger portions. For example- A boiled egg and grilled mushrooms, A chicken breast with loads of green salad, then prawn and veg stir fry, plus a couple bits of fruit?

That would be better than wasting half your intake on a latte! But good luck. I just think you're making it harder if you're only eating those high calorie things.

Yes thanks for these tips - you’re absolutely right 👍

Definitely think high protein, loads of green stuff. And you can split your meals up so you're eating every couple of hours? Or save 600 for a bigger meal if you are going out etc?
I'd say lay off the lattes, switch to a skinny cappuccino as a treat once a week?

I wish you well. I think losing around a pound or 2 a week is good and sustainable.

I’m 4’9 OP and will only lose weight on 1000 calories or less at my age (41) eating the recommended 1,400 calories to maintain feels like I’m feasting.

A lot depends on height and exercise, I’m active but have learned to restrict calories all my life and exercise or I gain weight quickly.

I’m 9 stone 11 now and look and feel overweight, I was always between 8 and 9 stone until my 40’s but I eat the same and have gained weight and I hate it.

A lot of people commenting won’t realise how much the height difference matters.

As long as you do it in a healthy way then it’s ok, I eat plenty and I find 1000 calories to be sufficient. I do miss wine, bread, cheese and even something as simple as hummus though!

I agree I think 1000 calories is sufficient if you balance it out well

That is great @GeorgeSalad Well done.
Week 2 will be less as it always is but don't be discouraged and keep going. A loss is a loss at the end of the day and if you can persuade anyone to drag you out for walks I would recommend that.
My friend would say 'i feel like having a cup of tea and a kitkat' and instead we would go out for a leg stretch. Good luck and keep us posted.

Have you looked at the New You plan? It’s meal replacement and recommended by the NHS. You can add in extra veg and fruit as the weight rolls off. It causes swift weight loss and the support team at NYP are incredibly supportive
